It's possible to outrun an aircraft under ideal conditions.. - long straight freeway with no other traffic - Over 150mph for something like 20 miles - You're running from a cessna or a lower powered helicopter. (Good luck outrunning a Dauphin II) Cessnas have a max airspeed only a little over 100mph. Their advantages are visual range and direct flight. In the real world it's not feasible, but under ideal conditions I believe it would be possible. Now I'm talking common police aircraft here - not military aircraft or multi-engine or jets.

Every other person I know when they see my bike on a rainy day: "But if you ride in the rain then you'll get wet!" "What? You think I'm made of tissue paper?"

Bump for new pic/video in first post.

Grand Jury = Felony. Good find - the article explains all his charges and why. I agree with the grand jury and prosecutor that the driver's actions showed "indifference to the value of human life". That could so easily have caused a fatal accident.
-
You can outrun a cessna if the road is straight and you keep it pegged AT 150+. Ride into the wind! There's no bike faster than radio, though. Good job by the police getting them both arrested without injuries. Dealing with a reckless bike must be real tough. If you hurt them then you're in deep shit. If you let them go and they hurt someone else then you're in deep shit. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. $120 fine for a minor misdemeanor speeding ticket (Or is it more now?), or jail time for felony eluding. Stupid is as stupid does.

Now that I see how bad the bruising is I'm gonna set something up next week. It's a partial tear. Grade 2 sprain. No instability. I still have full movement and can walk on it fine. I'll probably get sent for 6 to 9 weeks of physio again. Been here before.

Speaking from experience?

If there was a classification for animals it would have to be any animal that is owned by a person. Or maybe you could say it's any animal that a person has provided meadical treatment for (proven by vet bills etc) It woudl have to be a simple classification, not just listing all the different types of animals. I have cats living on our property but they are wild and I have no legal interest in them. Under old English law, flowers that are planted by a person are property for the purposes of theft and vandalism laws. Flowers that grow wild are NOT property. A similar concept.

If I hit your dog with my car then I'm not paying you diddly squat, because your dog was in the road. YOU are paying for the damages to my car. (Happened to my neighbor across the street. Not only did the judge not award vet bills, but my neighbor had to pay a couple thousand to replace the guy's bumper)

I agree with you. The law is what it is right now. Does pain count as abuse? How do we enforce that?

Justin / redkow - intersting discussion. Couple of points tho... It is perfectly legal for me to cut a table in half with a circular saw, becuase it is my property. If a dog is my property too, then...???? Neither does a severley mentally handicapped person. It would be tough to argue that the lack of capacity for emotional harm makes it ok. I believe animals are incorrectly classed. They are not people, and they are not property. They should have their own legal classification that takes into account the fact that they can be owned by a person, bought sold/traded etc (unlike a person), but that they cannot be damaged intentionally (unlike a table or a television). Side issue: I would like to see the law changed to make it a felony to illegally kill or injure an animal that is known to be a pet (with exceptions for euthanizations, self defense, defense of one pet from another pet etc). So it'd still be ok to hunt deer, but if you shoot someone's dog then you're in a sh*tload of trouble. I would also like to see the law changed or clarified to allow the use of force to defend a pet from unlawfully being killed or injured by a person. How much force should be allowed? Dunno. But if pets are property thenyou can use no more force to save your dog from being unlawfully killed than saving your television from being destroyed.

Last time I wrecked it this bad a bruise is formed that eventually spread out to cover my whole lower leg up to the knee. Gonna take daily pictures to show the progress in case it happens again. It was scary looking.

As I type this I am sitting at my desk job with an ice pack stuffed down my sock. After 30 mins I'll put my ankle brace back on. Elevation is difficutl at the desk, but the ice/compression/rest and Ibu are helping a ton. That song is a little light on details, though. Should be "The Distal Phalanx is connected to the Proximal Phalanx..."

I was wearing gloves and face mask, but nothing on my ankles. Kinda stupid on my part becuase my ankles have unusually large range of motion and therfore I sprain them easily. This is about the 6th or 7th time I've sporained it this bad. Soccer, running, even walking through te woods... When this heals up I'll be wearing ankle supports from now on for Karate. My car is a tick, which makes it difficult to push the clutch in. Clutchless shifting = win.

Saw this on a jaguar today: "SHE PURS" So, is that purrs or purse?

Sparring at karate tonight, rolled over my ankle. Now, picture me as 6'2', 225lbs with not a gram of fat on my legs (my belly is another story, but my legs are fabulous!) Now feast your eyes on my new cankle... Injury, Day 0: My ankle is about the size of a grapefruit right now. Everything from the crease in my leg down to the bottom of the bulge is swelling. The ankle bone (whatever that is called) is totally hidden under the swelling. Day 1: 24 hours after injury: Day 2: 48 hours after injury. I've been wearing a brace to immobilize it. You can see the pattern of the laces as gaps between the bruises on my shin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jT1-fL58j8E&lc Day 3: 72 hours after injury

Good to hear. Now, is he charged with First Degree Wanton Endangerment (showing indifference to the value of human life) which is a Felony, or Second Degree (creating a substantial risk of physical harm) which is a 1st degree misdemeanor? Even if they charge him with the 1st degree he'll plead it to 2nd degree. Punk assed hillbilly better get jail time.

Paypal disputes are handed by computers not people. It's a crapshoot. I wouldn't risk the guy taking hte bike then filing a dispute for some stupid reason.

Props to Joes. Glad to see you got it fixed.

Dangit. I come over here to get away from the UK and find this place is dripping with limeys. Were you born there, or did you inherit citizenship from your parents? The difference is that if you became a British Citizen by being born on British soil then you may pass British citizenship to your child (that would be my case, born in Yorkshire). However your child, if born outside the UK, cannot pass on British citizenship to your grandchildren (unless said grandchildren were born on British soil). (that would be my son's case, born in Columbus) My son is recognized as a dual (US and UK) citizen by both the US and UK governments - US by birth (citizen parents) and UK by Descent (Born British father). However *I* got US citizenship via naturalization, so the US government no longer recognizes me as a UK citizen. The UK recognizes me as dual (US/UK). You must have lived in the UK if you laugh at farts. That's 97% of British humor. When I get helmet intercoms so I could talk to my 7yo when we're 2-up, little did I know that would lead to helmet-to-helmet burping competitions. Cars next to us must think we're insane when we sit there in apparent silence and then both bust out laughing for no reason. My father is still with us but I lost my mother soon after coming to the US. The heartbreak was that my green card took 3 years to process and during that time I could not leave the US to visit home (not a family emergency, I could leave but they would consider my green card application abandoned). I missed the last 3 years of her life and was only allowed to travel home by the INS when the doctors asked us to "gather the family", and the next time I saw her she was in ICU, and she died a couple of hors later. I hated the INS for that. Still do.
