  1. Driving whie distracted by anything is illegal under the "Full Time and Attention" statute. That covers people who wreck while changing the radio station or picking up a dropped phone etc. The officer would have to convince the judge that what you were doing was distracting you enough to be a hazard, but that's not a very high bar, especially if you cause an accident doing it. The thing with specifically banning texting etc is that the officer doesn't have to prove that your texting was creating a hazard - it's assumed. It's like the OVI. If you blow under 0.08 then the officer has to prove you were impaired (accident / poor performance on sobriety tests etc). If you blow 0.08 or above then the courts will assume you were imparied without the need for the officer to prove it.
  2. I hate it when you pull over to let a fire truck past and the guy behind you passes you/cuts you off as you as pulling back in to traffic. I thought common decency requires you to stay in order when you set off again?
  3. There's an old video out there of the police cracking down on people flogging it round the roads before the race (while the roads are still open to the public). Back from the early days of police dashcams. The cops would follow some squid for a while then pull them over, flip open a saddlebag and reveal a screen that they could play back the video to the squid while they were writing the ticket. It was all very light hearted and positive until the last segment of the video. The police are called to a big bike wreck. Triple-digit squidliness resulted in the bike leaving the road and landing a couple hundred feet away in a field. Rider was ok but his girlfriend was paralyzed.
  4. My biggest problem working on my biek or car is I have a nasty habit of finishng a job and leaving the tools on the nearest shelf (or any flat surface) then I can't find any of my tools and any job takes 4x as long. I'm good now, though, just got my workshop all sorted out and all my tools in the cabinet again. Have to keep up with putting the tools away. Of course there's probaby 5 of my sockets still missing and I'll have to pay an arm and a leg to replace them. I bethca I could buy a whole new socket set for the cost of replacing 10% of the sockets individually.
  5. It's your av picture too. I always loved the B17 from making models of them when I was a kid. If nothing else, looks like some of the parts can go to keep other B17s in the air. How many are left? Not many.
  6. I would like to see a law where you can submit video of people doing stupid crap like that and have them get ticketed for it. The police can't be everywhere - and it's US that wind up with an ass-full of BMW when some yuppie drops his smartphone into his triple-shot venti non-fat soy mocha-choca-poke-a-latte.
  7. ... pages of paper attached to her steering wheel that looked like they were reproduced from a textbook that she was studying intently and writing stuff in, while listening to earbuds while doing 50mph southbound on riverside. I'm not talking about printed google instructions or somethign you just need to glace at for a second, I'm talking a page full of charts, tables and paragraphs of text. She crossed the fogline for a few seconds several times and sudden;ly corrected back - just like a drunk. The cars around her were keeping well clear of her. As I pulled up alongside her at a red light I gave her a nasty stare and she was clueless. "What??" I need a little handheld sign; "I don't care what it is, put it down and JUST DRIVE."
  8. Meh. Been around that. No big at all. I don't understand why Americans hate roundabouts. It's like they are comforted by having to stop every 100 yards. Don't have to think too much or too fluently. When you approach the roundabout you signal the way you want to go. You want to turn left, signal left. Turning Right? Signal Right. Simple. The only difference is that once you are in the roundabout, as you approach your exit, signal right to show you are about to exit the roundabout (always a right turn to exit the roundabout). This means that people waiting to enter the roundabout can tell if you're going to exit before you get to them, or continue around past them. Oh, and the next cager I see texting it getting shot at. Watch for me on 10tv.

  10. I think you do... Both bikes, a semi etc all ran the light, and the guy in the puss-yellow van seemed upset that people had stopped for the light.
  11. With the off-duty cop as witness you should be set for your insurance claim. Hope that all goes well and they get your ride fixed back up. How did you feel physically on the days after? Sore from blunt force impact into the ground etc? Again, ATGATT is a smart move. Glad you're still here.
  12. The funny thing is you all accused Ringo of threatening to hack the site, but I believe that when he said he would crash the forum he mean like crashing a party, ie arrive uninvited and annoy people. I don't believe he ever meant he woudl try to take the site down. I may be wrong tho.
  13. Zombies are everywhere. Mostly driving cages.
  14. I got a call from him. He's going to call and set something up tomorrow evening. Thanks, sparksnare. I'll have to see how it goes.
  15. There is a slight curve to the left just as 315 approaches Kinnear if you're headed southbound. Seperate from the hospital curve. Basically, the offramp at Kinnear is straight and the freeway curves away to the left. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=770+kinnear+road,+columbus,+oh&sll=39.998967,-83.029353&sspn=0.008449,0.019205&g=770+kinnear+road,+columbus,+oh&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=770+Kinnear+Rd,+Columbus,+Ohio+43212&ll=40.000153,-83.028789&spn=0.008449,0.019205&t=h&z=16
  16. My guy never called or showed up. Oh well.
  17. Nevevr ridden through there. Is it that scary just trying to make the corner? May have been cut off by a car, or any number of things... But I'm sticking with the drunk theory for now. Thoughts to the rider, hope he pulls through.
  18. That's not a tight curve. The hospital curve is much tighter and he must have passed that minutes before, I'm going to go out on a limb and say his BAC is pretty close to the name of the road. 0.315

Everyone involved in the reckless driving is reponsible for his death. That's why they ran. So, there were 6 bikes... Two up front, two in the middle and two behind. The two in the midles both tried to split the same two cars at 100mph at the same time and both crashed. The two bikes up front sped away (but the police know who they are). The two bikes at the back stopped, but one of them fled soon after. So, 6 bikes, 1 dead, 1 in ICU, and only ONE bike stopped and tried to help. EVERYONE ELSE fled the scene and left the downed riders to die. Disgusting.
  20. This site says the buyer's name and address must be present on the assignment of ownership before the title is notarized... http://www.ohionotaries.org/1/documents-requiring-caution
  21. The seller's section at the top has an Assignment of Ownership section that has a price, date, minor certification, buyer's name and buyer's address. Then there's the odometer certification. Then the bit that needs to be notarized. THEN there is the buyer's acknowledgement of odometer section and application for title section below. So you can get the seller's name/address/signature section notarized without assignment of ownership and odometer certification sections completed? I understand that the buyer's acknowledgement of odometer does not need to be notarized, and the application for title comes later.
  22. Would a car dealer notarize a transaction that they're not involved in? They can charge a fee, but that fee is limited by law (and overcharging risks loss of notary status) I'm pretty close to several car dealers. That would work out well for us.
