270 doesn't bother me either - until I try to exit through the 23/315/270 suicide merge. Or exit from 270s into 161e on the west side during rush hour. 50 cages trying to cram into a space big enough for 5, and they have as much concern for you as a squirrel that ran out into the road.

Goddard has been great for us. I took time to speak with the teachers every single day when I picked him up, for at least 10 minutes. Never had a moment's trouble. He's way in front of his peer group for reading and math and just last week was reading a book on the human body and came over to explain to us what "Deoxyribonucleic Acid" is and what it does. He's 6. I dunno if that's Goddard, him, me or luck repsonsible for that - but it works for me. You do have to be careful and pick the correct place. You don't write someone a $67k check after 5 minutes of talking to them. It's an ongoing relationship that you have to work at making sure is good. Follow up on what your kid tells you, what his teachers are telling you. Don't always believe what your kid tells you about what goes on, but don't always believe the teachers either. That goes for group daycare or a nanny.

I tried to get "Scruit" and the application went through but then I got a letter stating that the plate was inappropriate. This was about 8 years ago. It's not on the list of banned plates earlier in this thread.

We put our boy at the Goddard School from 3mo until he started the first grade this year. The price would drop as he got older and the teacher ratios dropped (More kids per teacher the older the) but inflation made up for the difference. In 2004 we started paing 845/mo. Made my last payment to them in august - $850. Over 6 years, 6 months, we paid a total of $67,000 dollars. (Since the day he started at goddard I called him my little corvette. That's the kind of car I could have gotten for an 850/mo payment)

I have the factory C50 windshield on my '04 Volusia. I'm over 6'2" so I find even at the highest setting te wind is deflected up right onto my forehead. Has anyone use the Laminar lip? http://www.laminarlip.com/ I ordered one and installed it last night but haven't been out on the road since (they said 24 for the adhesive to set up). It's supposed to deflect more air up over your head. We'll have to see about that. I'll be out on the bike tomorrow and will tell you how it goes.

No, but I was seriously considering the jet kit. Right now my main focus, beyond enjoying the ride, is to get good MPG. The bike is plenty fast enough to get me in more trouble than I need to be in. (That being said, my car is faster than my bike!) As my skills improve I can see stepping up to a more responsive bike.

I'm thinking more like a new BMW tourer or something like that. Could use a little more comfort for longer rides, but honestly I'm not finding myself hurting for anything that I can't add as easily as any other bike. Maybe GPS if I want to go exploring.

I was looking for a cruiser / first bike. Am I gonna spent $20k on a harley or $6k on a suzuki? Can't beat that especially for brand new with 2 miles on the odo. We all start somewhere. I was always planning to upgrade at some point, but I actually haven't found the need to yet. Turns out it's a damn nice bike.

This is why I'm not allowed to make the laws. I've already advocated for triple damages when the at-fault motorist violates a clearly traffic law. Specifically cases where the maneuver is ALWAYS illegal and split-second judgement is not a factor (ie, making a u-turn against a no-u-turn sign, as opposed to pulling out from a stop sign after misjudging the speed of an approaching vehicle) The RV in this case would be liable for triple damages under my plan as he was driving on the wrong side of the road across a double-yellow approaching a blind bend. Hope he finds something new before it starts to snow. I don't mind the rain so much, as long as I'm not in a rush. Snow and ice = no thanks. Unless I'm riding a trike or a Can-Am or something that won't tip over when you hit the slick stuff.

I skipped today for a few reasons. Have to turn in a rental car in on the way home from work. Had to put my kid on the school bus so I only had 25 mins to get to work and I can only get that that quickly on 270 which I don't like to ride on. Also, because it was raining pretty heavily when it was time to set off. I need more time/experience riding in the rain at a lesiurely pace before I will feel confident trying to make good time when I'm in a rush.
