  1. Took my bike there because it was running too lean. They gave it back good as new. Great shop to work with.
  2. Did he have his name written on his y-fronts? Or was that just a statement of fact...
  3. Donate to Mythbusters. It will go away. At 18000fps.
  4. K, so first 8500 get a free subscription - do they tell 8501+ that they get nothing, just spam.
  5. Don't donate it unless the place says they'll accept junk cars. It can wind up costing them money when they pay $100 to have it towed for $50 in scrap value. Call a junkyard and have them come and take it. They may call it even (tow cost versus scrap value).
  6. It's a personal choice, man. Let people choose between a title WITH a helmet, or a title with a little piece of jello.
  7. Maybe. They both have had their exhausts debaffled.
  8. 30fps is not crappy - it's full motion video and you can't getany higher framerate than that unless you go for a hi-speed camera (the type they film bullets with) The resolution is surprisingly good... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWvp_KbbAd8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnPUBvcCyh4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LEmwhgTWiY The battery lasts about an hour. It won't delete the exsting video, so if you want to use it for regular commuting then you have to plug it into you computer and delete the existing video each time. It charges from the computer. If it runs out of space on the SD card or runs out of battery, it will save the current video. If you press stop, it will save the current video. **If youpower it off while recording, it will lose the current video*** I don't like the placement of the camera in the pic in the OP. I'd haate to have that thing smashed into my nose. Look at the thick chunk of foam next to your temple - a strip of velcro will hold it perfectly there. I quit using mine for commuting because it was a pain to keep clearing the video. I use it for specific recording needs. The video on my bike is filmed using a permanently-installed MDVR14 that has auto-on, auto-off and auto-overwrite of old video. 100% automated and hands-off. If it would auto-overwite, then it'd be perfect.
  9. I'll be watching out for the sale...
  10. Sure. And if you're at bike night and the guy want to hear the pipes then sure, whatever. Just as long as you're not winding it up to WOT around people who have no desire to hear your pipes, then fine.
  11. Agreed - If you're legitimately set up for racing and you're at a race track then you can run whatever pipes is fastest. If you go watch any car/bike/truck race then you should expect it to be very loud. That's racing. But if you're on the street...
  12. Went to Iron Pony at ~11:30 to pick up a new lid. As I was walking up to the door I saw two sportbikes backed up onto the sidewalk facing directly away fro the door. They both started up, and it was clear they had straight pipes. Then they set off through the parking lot at full speed and the sound of the pipes was horrendous. Everyone within 100' feet jumped and not one of them appeared to be much impressed. Was that someone here? I mean honestly, that stuff just makes you look like a douche. They may think it's cool, but it's just not. Really.
  13. Who was that last one? (spike ball into nuts) Is the official throwing the flag for the spike or the shove?
  14. Assuming you mean WRX STI...? I have a Legagy GT Turbo, same drivetrain as the WRX. Winter tires ROCK. I have Once the average temp hits 40 deg the winter tires go on. The factory all-seasons are useless in the snow. Bear in mind that snow tires and winter tires are different things. Winter tires have rubber compounds that stay flexible in the cold. Mine are siped like a sum-bish too. Snow tires tend to be more about traction in the snow itself, like studded or really aggressive tread blocks.
  15. Any change the intersection is visible to cctv cameras at a local business? Even better would be if there's a nearby gas station she just pulled out of... The insurance won't raise his rates for simply being in an accident. It has to be an accident where they had to pay as a result of his negligence. liability only = they won't pay for his bike, period. Report it to the police. You never know, she might have called in a "phantom car" police report to explain away the big dent in her car...
  16. Well, I didn't say it would be like hitting a wall at 150 - just that it was a combined speed of 150. If two cars hit head on at 75mph each (combined 150mph) then the damage to each car is the same as if the car had hit a wall at 75mph. Although there is more crash force to dissipate, the two cars share that force. Both cars are deformable objects, the wall is not.
  17. I'm guessing you're a fireman or medic? My brother is an ambulance tech (and trainee Paramedic) in the UK. Thanks for the job you do.
  18. Here's he route I'm thinking of... Before my bike went to the dealership for the carb cleaning / rejet I was getting 33mpg and a range of 100-125 miles. Therefore, the route planned here assumes that same range. I'm hoping the range becomes 150-175 onces the reject is done. If so, then I'll replan to stop less often. My Route Anyways, I'm planning for my gas stops to be pretty short and I'll take longer stops at Niagara Falls (may skip if it's busy) and for lunch. Hope to set off riding at 5am Sat 30th. Assuming 14 hours of riding and a couple of hours for various stops, hoping to be home again 9pm.
  19. I'm past arguing about helmets. Different strokes etc. ATGATT.
  20. http://www.10tv.com/live/content/local/stories/2010/10/16/story-newark-fatal-motorcycle-crash-state-route-79.html?sid=102
  21. I have a carb. And electronic ignition timing.
  22. I used to live 2 miles from work and my commute was 30 mins past 5 schools... Moved 15 miles away, same work... 15mins commute. The difference was I didn't have to go through the school zones any more. It's all about the quality of the commute, not the distance. Driving my car to my current job is usually faster, but I have to fight through 3 different suicide merges, leaving me stressed out before I even got sat down at my desk. My bike commute on country roads doesn't take me through any areas where cars fight for road position, so it's much lower stress.
  23. 25 miles one way. 25 mins if I cage it on the freeway outside of rush hour, or 40 mins during rush hour. Whenever I can, I bike it. Going country roads instead the distance is the same, speeds are lower and I get there in 40 mins. But I actually look forward to the commute...
