Well everyone I thank you for your help but looks like a new computer is on the horizon for me! With mine going down and my boss having the same one he is taking the opportunity to try and get 2 or 3 new one together at a discount. I might try to revisit fixing this old one at some point still though

I have a sinking suspicion the motherboard went bad. A part of me wants to say its already gone bad once in this computer

In the first couple posts I think I put a picture of the error I was getting. When we tried to reinstall windows, it would get through that setup then blue screen. Same as the new HD

Charleston, SC!! Specifically look at the Daniel Island area. Close enough to the city and beaches as well as close to the airport. My parents are in the process of building a house there and have been there many many times for vacations

This is the widows setup screen I get and along the bottom it shows what it's setting up. When it changes to show "Starting Windows" I get this 2nd screen

I found a SATA Operation that shows 4 options: Disabled, ATA, AHCI, IRRT. IRRT is the option enabled currently

I think I know how to get to the Bios menu but I dunno what that other stuff is. As you can tell I'm pretty computer challenged

It goes through some setup and then it says starting windows and once it does that it blue screens

So I put in the new HD and start it up with the Windows Boot Disk. Everything is setting up and loading then boom it BLUE screens. What the fuck?!

The one Sapphy posted at Microcenter is the one I'm going with since I need the computer up and running ASAP As long as its somewhat equal in speed to the toshiba that came with the computer, ill be happy. Normally I'd use this as an excuse to upgrade to something awesome (ie new computer in general) but unfortunately its not in the budget now
