  1. I gave you my opinion and two wonderful links to resources, you chose not to follow them and educate yourself. not our fault.

i am educating myself...lol...hence this thread...and what i just posted last page...but out of those 3 links you posted the sundance amp seems to be the best for the setup im lookin for but it wasnt posted as 1 ohm stable...and also ive never heard of/know anyone that has cadence or sundanc

e so im a little skeptical of em...

  2. my time is money. for the amount of time to "learn" and hook up , id rather pay and have it come back on them if my 40000 truck or car catches fire

    +1

im goin to pay someone to hook the shit up for both those exact reasons...i just want to know what exactly im spendin my money on n not walkin into some shop n believing the guy behind the counter that the first sub he shows me is the exact one that i want...

regardless, i spent enough time punishing google tonight and have a pretty decent grasp of how the watts to ohms work, which is really all i needed someone to tell me...why couldnt someone break it down for me??....finding specific things on the net today is like finding a irish guy with small nipples. ..

im going to be happy with those boston subs i mentioned, all i need now is to find a amp, and well, tomorrow is payday :D even though its not gonna hit what i wanted my budget to be im shoppin around for a known brand, fair priced, 900-1400 watt 1 ohm stable amp with a remote bass control knob...shouldnt be that hard to find but if anyone has any recommendations give a shout out

  3. ive been lookin at the kicker 08ZX750.1 amp...i know its a little underpowered for these subs but im tryin to keep it around 300 for the amp....i really like the kenwood KAC-9104D amp but it doesnt have the bass controll knob which im pretty sure im going to need since im keeping my factory head unit...

your two options are 1 ohm or 4 ohm If you cant find a 1 ohm stable amp in your price range then wire them at 4

so your saying 2 ohms is out of the question? im still learning like i said so this whole division of ohms into however many channels has me lost still....people keep trying to explain it but i guess im just retarded cause it doesnt register....crutchfield was recommending that kenwood amp i mentioned above which will give me the right power at 2 ohms but it'll be way under at 1...or if i have this right your saying i would wire them each at 1 makin a 2 ohm load total on the amp....right?

  4. ok so ive decided on the subs....im getting 2 boston acoustic

    here's the summary on em

    • 10" subwoofer with dual 4-ohm voice coils
    • copolymer woofer cone with foam surround
    • RadialVent cooling for increased power handling
    • SPS™ (Soft Part System) allows quick field repairs
    • compatible with Boston's GTR TunableRadiators™
    • power range: 100-450 watts RMS (225 per voice coil)
    • frequency response: 24-350 Hz
    • sensitivity: 92 dB
    • mounting depth: 6-11/16"
    • sealed box volume: 0.50 cu. ft.
    • ported box volume: 1.30 cu. ft.
    • warranty: 2 years

so now i need some suggestions on amps....i need one that has a remote bass controll knob because i dont plan on replacing my factory head unit....can you guys give me some good amps around 700-900 rms @ 2 ohms to look into at or under 300?

  5. hahahahaha o man...7 pages of pure funny so far...but yea id love to snag 2 orion hcca 10" n a matchin hcca amp but the pocketbook is gearin me most likely twards mtx or somethin...like i said i listen to mostly rock but i sometimes play rap/sublime which hits...i dunno...im still shoppin...everyone is tellin me all different things

  6. You planning to run this off your stock head unit or you using an after market head unit? Cause if it has the same monsoon system as my gti does good luck patching the sub into the fgactory amp system without getting rpm feed back through the speakers. It is not easy to hook up a sub with this factory crap you need to know what you are doing and it will sound better if you use all after market stuff. I have a jbl 10 I was gonna put in my hatch with a hifonics amp but dont have the parts or skills to do it myself? But your right the stock radio has no bass. gets real loud but no bass.

you have to snag the output before the factory amp to avoid the rpm feedback through the aftermarket amp...which is what i planned on doing unless thats what you did and if so ill hafta shoot for a dif amp to cover the factory speakers then lol

  7. ok so ive been to a few shops tonight and it seems to be from what everyone is tellin me that what i want is just some powerful sq.....im lookin mainly at 2-10" subs around 1,000-1,900 watts and about a 1,500 watt amp...ive seen some jbl and powerbass subs/amps tonight that meet what ive been lookin for...any sellers or suggestions to my criteria??

p.s. i probably dont need a box, from what ive seen im most likely gonna make a white cloth covered sealed box with a slash cut front for the two 10's (seems to be the best for the hatchbacks)...interior of my car is black with white ceiling

  8. im pretty much lookin for sql...want somethin that puts out good quality n gets loud...maybe not loud enough to wake the neighbors but loud enough where they can probably hear it...i listen to mostly rock so quality is a issue...and as far as the box...i def have the skill to build one its just probably not going to be the best as i dont know about the little details that make a box from good to great...

  9. im gonna look at some you guys suggest online when i get home, im at work on my phone right now i just figured this way i could have some options to look at by then

  10. uh, both? lol...if i had to choose id say for quality cause im not goin to have it cranked 24/7, but at the same time i would like to have the power available to me where if i do crank it you can hear me a couple blocks away without loosing any beats...i woulda thought that would be everyone's goal when gettin subs..

  11. the real question to answer is sq or spl? My wifes truck is set up for sound quality. 3 mtx 10's and mtx 300.1d my truck was set up for spl 2 10w7 and 2 500/1 It all depends on what you are after. Do yourself a favor build a box to match your subs not buy a prefab box.

hahaha...you are so speakin greek to me

  12. oh yea i know alpine is a good brand...as well as rocksford fosgate (however u spell it) and orion too...im more-or-less lookin for suggestions on actual subs + amp for my budget...im really hopin to get a setup of around 1,000-1,400 watts

  13. so i recently got a gti and im lookin to get some subs since i finally have a car with enough space to fit a box...i havent been into the car audio scene in a while and i was wondering if you guys have any suggestions on brands or whatever to look into...im hopin to get this all done for around $500-550.
