sure, capitalism is an economic system, socialism is a political one. I can understand a short term need for social assistance, but ingraining these programs into society to a point where they are abused (even by the few) is destructive at best when the 'greater good' is touted as a mechanism to continue proliferation of inequitable rewards, it has a very real impact on economics as well as government. the democratic form of govt runs the risk of turning into a socialist/fascist entity. the point has already been made that we continue to punish fiscally responsible people, and vice-versa. govt really has no role of playing robin hood, but fostering an environment where a strong capital-based economy makes this situation unnecessary.

not sure, but technically he may have been in the wrong learn to swerve and avoid obstacles.. much easier than hard braking to a dead stop -
This is mostly to get an understanding around general street riding behavior I don't pay much note to the speedo so long as I stay with traffic, but on open roads the bike just seems to have a mind of its own. So... fess up folks, tell me I'm not the only one More importantly, I wonder if the risks are about the same with speeding in a car, or do the cops give just a little more leeway if you happen to be on 2 wheels.

seems a bit over the top... haven't heard of instructors getting their knickers in a knot over a 2nd gear shift. mostly they dont care so long as you finish the routine in the right gear (1st stopped)
