While true, there is no reason you can't refinance before your first payment is even due.
Some credit unions even give you a "bonus" $ per $1000 financed on a loan takeover.
I've done it same day before.
Found car in NC I wanted.
Got up early walked into credit union.
They cut me a check and I drove there and picked it up.
Mind you've I wasn't just off the street, I'd had an account there and financed several cars through them, but I'm not sure if that matters.
Bear in mind the ST is DI.
It's not like a port car where your only limitation is how big your injectors are, and how big your in-tank pump is. The mechanical high pressure pump can only give so much fuel at a given RPM. Given that most E85 tunes need a good 30% more fuel, you'd really have to be careful, unless you put on a massive aftermarket HP pump.
Every device is different.
Different brands have different ways of obtaining root, carrier unlock, "s-off" ect.
Might help if you add what devices they are.
Other than bringing ADB experience to the table, all that person is going to do is google, and read the directions like you would.
Only way I would do this is to explain that you take full responsibility if they don't come back for any reason, otherwise, it's a losing proposition for the guy "helping" you.
