I felt much of the same issues out of the B8 S4.
Rubbery and the clutch action just didn't feel natural, I just couldn't get into a groove with it like I usually do with a car. The DSG felt much better in the chassis, and made it feel "lighter" and more alive. Blips the throttle, and feels great. Favorite thing to do was grab 2nd and spin her around round-abouts. With the sport diff, you could hold it all day, so much fun.
