  1. If all of you are making the trip up to the show, least I could do is try to meet up with you. I usually try to go on a week day evening but I will make the exception once someone picks a time/day.
  2. Hmm... Those dont sound like roads. Maybe I need to reconsider my expectations. I know you are a considerably more skilled rider than I am. Maybe I should get Pauly to spoon some TKCs on the bike before the trip, or I could get off my duff and do the work myself. And yes I resemble that description for trip planning. I don't usually get to plan that far ahead and most of my time is not my own. I will work out the permissions over christmas and start my planning, however I will not be able to do a 2 week trip, it will be more like 5-6 days total.
  3. @Danimal is still posting, was on this morning, so I expect he will chime in to both questions soon. Sounds like it has met or exceeded his expectations so far. Enough so that I was considering the $2200 TT250 as a cheap winter dual sport.
  4. Probably not 2 weeks for me. We will have to hook up for a day or 2 of dirty rides near base camp. I know I "should" put on some TKCs or similar, however what is the fun in that. Inappropriate tires make it more interesting. Kind of like riding a sumo on a multi 300+ mile trip with sport touring bikes. Or leading the trip with a fat cruiser So far I have found I am much more confident with the DRZ on slicks off the pavement than I ever was with the Vstrom, even with much more aggressive tires. I'm sure I will hold you up even more offroad than I did on the pavement, so just send me some tracks before the trip and promise to come looking for me if I don't get back to Fontana before dark
  5. I'm not 100% sure I will be down there for this but if I am it will be on the DRZ400SM and I will be looking to explore the dirty roads in the Smokies. I will ofcourse be on sporty tires but that just makes it more fun (unless really muddy ). I doubt I can get enough days off to do mostly dirt there and back. was probably going to do 1.5 days down and back on 2 lane roads. If things change and I can take the extra time I will let you know. Craig
  6. Too true. I have 4 bicycles in the garage that are mine, not including the ones for my daughter and wife. And yet there are 2 or 3 more I would like to have
  7. You will try to puke your lungs out, if you're doing it right I haven't actually done a race, but understand it to be redline the entire time. Just go out and have fun and try not to get in the way of the fast guys lapping you. Craig
  8. http://www.zeromotorcycles.com/zero-s/specs.php 11 hours with 110V and onboard charger from dead. If you buy the "fast" chargers you can get it down to 3 hrs. However unless your commute is 100miles I doubt you would have problems topping it back up to full with an extension cord at work. A 100 mile range would give me enough range for 2 commutes, so should be more than enough margin for daily use. If I stay off the freeway which I usually do the smaller battey pack should work quite well. Craig
  9. Really wasn't that big of deal. The seat was no problem while riding with the group. Only issue was the slab miles to down there and back. Craig
  10. I got 5000 out of a 2CT on the rear of my bike. But 2 of my bikes would weigh considerably less than Tim's setup and have much less hp Need to mount the Metzeler M7 to match the front this weekend as the last hint of tread in the tire center has disappeared this week. Craig

Nice to meet everyone who made it. I've lurked here for years but havnt met many of you before the Fall Gap Trip. I will have to try to make some of the rides next season. Craig
  12. Not sure the history. But do know that in most states parties receiving a threshold pct of votes in previous election are automatically on the next ballot. A little harder to break into the debates and/or get national attention but a strong election result even if not a win will draw attention. I am getting grief from family for not voting party lines but I was never completely convinced by a party and this cycle has left me completely disgusted. Craig
  13. Umm. Bengals are current 3rd in the division. Above only the Browns. Steelers have a full game on them and a win over them this season. Ravens currently have the same record. However I do enjoy the sports, mostly football. I enjoy all four seasons, though would prefer if late fall early winter came with more daylight. But ofcourse what motorcyclists would not want a few more days a year of great riding.
  14. Are you not providing trailering service any more or did you upgrade?
  15. The primaries are supposed to, but apparently the voting public is even more stupid than I expected. I would have rather cast my vote for nearly any other choice that was available in the primaries than either of the ones the major parties have provided us. Both VP candidates are also much better options than the top of the ticket. Since we have a choice that is much to close to Stalin vs Hilter I will vote for a third party. It may not have a direct affect on the current election but it can help to get that party on the ballot and/or debates in the next election. Which I think would be a very positive outcome. Craig
  16. Looks like those were all from day 1, before you joined us.
  17. After enjoying the Fall Trip so much I think I am going to have to go down for this one. I would probably only be in Fontana Wed-Sat (3 nights) as I would take 2 days down and 2 days back. I can't see riding the DRZ to Deals Gap in a single day Craig
  18. @what Sorry for holding you up on DG. i realize now after watching your vid you caught me pretty fast and was gain ground quickly even through the turns I thought I was taking pretty fast. Good thing I stopped for the overlook or you would have had to follow me the rest of the pass. I didn't realize how slow I was. Craig
  19. Agree, My coworker is riding his BMW to MI friday to get service and explore the trails. I seriously considered riding with him. However if I took off work and away from home again this soon my wife would kill me and work would probably fire me.
  20. Read the description it is a "back pad", not a "back protector". At least I have seen that term used before, usually mixed in with "CE approved knee and elbow armor" so that it is not immediately obvious that the pad provides minimal protection. However I have not seen any better any other budget jackets. Unless it actually states CE approved back armor it is not worth much. Craig
  21. Yea, it was amazing coming over that hill and seeing the scenery open up before you. I was in a vice groove riding the curves then the breath taking scene opened up and I had to stop despite the open road before me
  22. A nice overlook on 119 in KY. A couple pics of the sumo in the group. Doesn't look like I am barely leaning. I guess I have a ways to go to match the speeds the others can carry through the turn.
  23. Got home last night about 6. 1750 miles for the trip. I'm in surprising good shape this morning. Thanks @Tonik for putting this together and being the ride leader. I greatly improved my riding on this trip, my first real trip on these kinds of roads. Craig
