    First rides

Don’t remember much about the first ride (as a passenger). Have seen pictures of myself laying on the tank of my Dad’s Harley, hanging onto the handlebars for dear life…At maybe 3 or 4? Learning the clutch of my mr50 at age 6 was a whole new freedom…Even better once I learned to shift to 2nd! Hit the streets at 15&3/4 with a learner’s permit and a Honda Rebel. Took me a while to get comfortable anywhere cars were around. Was the only kid riding a motorcycle to my High School…Well, except for the kid with the moped…that kept ending up in a tree by the end of the day.

    My first gun

Try a bunch out. If you are going to carry, get something that is comfortable and train with it. Then train with it some more. CCW class prepares your mind. It's up to you to prepare yourself. Practice accessing your firearm from concealment. Practice shooting dynamically…not just standing and aiming. When things get stressful, fine motor control tends to go out the window (fight-or-flight mode). One defaults to his level of training. Example A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9zy37-_0LU Example B: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBtws_WJGfc No one was hit in either incident. Lucky for all involved, But don’t rely on luck. Don’t get caught up in the whole caliber thing. Get what feels comfortable, and actually put the rounds through it. Analogous to the track...No matter how big the bike, there’s almost always someone on a smaller bike that has the skills to make you look like a fool. Win the race in the straights or the corners?
  3. I used to know how to write in cursive.

  5. My high school had both a rifle team and trap-shooting team, as well as a shooting club. It wasn’t at all unusual to see students carrying cases, or even slung rifles down the halls in the morning—especially guys that hunted before school. Our school actually had an extended Thanksgiving break, since rifle season (this was not in Ohio) begins the Monday following. No one kept locks on their lockers…When there was a new student who did, most were suspicious of what it was they were hiding. I lived in a rural area, and everybody knew everybody…The local store-owner would allow kids to run a tab for soda and snacks, and pay it down when they had change.
  6. Oh, now. It's only if you're already thinking ... Take it from Mike Rowe: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgTBx2Sgmp4
  7. Me or them? Of course, I am having a good-butt day in this pair of jeans...
  8. I'm sure I deserve more than that... Yeah, I turned into the complex and they kept going. What really got me thinking during that ride:...I know clear indicator lenses w/ amber bulbs are cool in Ohio, but are clear brake lights w/red led's?
  9. Was riding back to work after lunch today, and somehow managed to end up between two Columbus police cruisers (front and rear)… …All the way down Morse Rd. …Stopping at every light. I was starting to wonder if they were messing with me. Couldn’t get a clean lane change since no one else apparently wanted to pass the cops. The fun part was trying to ride a V-twin litrebike w/ unbaffled Akra Hex’s “quietly.” Kinda like the motorcycle equivalent of a ‘cock-block’.
  10. Optic still looking for a good home.
  11. Had an instance just last week…Woke up out of a deep sleep by a loud crash/thud. Straight to my feet, start to clear the room… …Then realize both the Mrs. and the dog, who are lighter sleepers than I, are still sound asleep. Still, check out the rest of the house and all is well. Just a loud dream. Happens every so often.
  12. I would expect that something along those lines would have to be established, if not already done. I seem to recall a similar distinction during one of the earlier versions of the smoking ban. If not, you'd have to ask yourself before going in: "Am I here to drink and chase tail, or have a mediocre burger and a coke?"
  13. I still haven't seen any verbiage specifying the intention to allow concealed carry in a bar...Only restaurants that serve alcohol. Technically two different animals with two different purposes. Of course, we can see from the sheer carnage that happens in every Applebees and Olive Garden in the 42 U.S. States that already allow it, that it is a horrible idea.
  14. Ohioans cannot handle this responsibility. Sure, it's legal to ccw in restaurants in all the states around Ohio...and there have not been massive casualties in those states... ...But I think everyone should move back into their Y2k bunker.
  15. Sorry about your luck. CBM?

  20. Fine w/ me, provided it doesn't otherwise go by then.
  21. Had not planned on it, but may be able to swing by if you are reasonably certain that you want it.
