How strict is the points system for the OVR SCCA? I don't turn 18 'till May 14th, so I wouldn't be able to do every event. I'm not concerned with "winning", I just want to have some fun, meet some cool people and learn how to be a better driver. I do however plan on at least coming up and watching/helping out if I can until May?

I'm just under the cutoff for age in participation, I might head up to watch though.

Well, if your friend does consider the 3, (I'm assuming automatic DD type deal). Generally avoid the 04/05's. '04 was first model year, and it would probably be beyond warranty anyway. Mazda "revised" the A/C in 06 so that's probably useful for the "family" part. Also, in 06 they gave the auto MZ3 a 5sp. > the 4sp. Just tossing in my .02
