  3. The Pub is awesome, and has all kinds of yummy brew
  4. I love the hicks that say if you don't roll over and take everything "people in charge" says, then you are a bad parent and teaching your child to disobey authority. There is a pretty thick line between standing up for what one believes in and disobeying. You can stand up and still fight bad policy and still work within the rules.

  6. if we want to play with silly extremes lets skip the orange vest and just go straight to orange jumpsuits. We can make them buy them from the school so they are all 100% the same that way no one can go and get designer orange jumpsuit so that they would feel superior.
  7. The question is not if they should, the question is what is that standard? That is what we disagree on. And the standard as an adult changes all the time. My last job jeans and a t-shirt was standard wear all the time in the office. Where I am at now, jeans are only acceptable on Fridays. Again I want to say, sense it keeps getting lost, is this is not a question of if there should be a standard, but what the standard should be.
  8. My apologies, it was Isaac's Papa that called it a stick dress code
  9. actually I am very professional in what I do, and my appearance at work. And why do you attack me? Do you know me? Do you know anything about what I do and how I do it? Yet you try to speak about it like you do. Again you aregument is if the school allows anything more then the very strick dress code, then all the kids will come to school looking like hookers and gang bangers. I doubt this is the case.
  10. I am not sure how kid one's choice in clothing would keep your child from being able to learn? Unless they are wearing bells or other things that makes noise when moving?
  11. Khakis and a Polo seems very much like a uniform to me
  12. Because it is not appropriate for work. How did I learn this? By making good and bad choices in school and learning from it. Now lets not confuse the subject her. I am not in favor of kids going to school looking like gang bangers and hookers, but uniforms are not the answer either. Why do you take it to extremes? I am for middle of the road.
  13. No I wear my club gear when I go to the club. what I do for a living? I am an IT nerd, lat 10 years being and admin and programmer.
  14. See better is a matter of opinion. I think it is better to have a basic dress code (common sense basically, yea I know it is not that common) for kids in school and you think it is better to have them wear a uniform. Now who is right? In the end we may never know, because both options have good and bad to them. My son goes to a school that has a common sense dress code, and if they change that, I will move him to another school, as a parent, that is my choice. The ironic part of all this, is my son is much much more conservative than me. He gets on me when I club gear or even when I was still playing roller derby and would be in my derby gear.
  15. I am not saying hold them to a lower standard, I am saying teach them to think and make the right choices, don't shove it down their mouths and expect them to take it as gospel. Uniforms do not teach them to make good choices, it teaches them to stay in line and not stick out and not think independently. Heaven forbid we try to change it, yea been there, done that, got the the shit beat out of me literally more then once.
  16. actually I did get what you where going for, but I gave up trying to change the world years ago. The world is generally a shit hole, most of the people with the power will screw over anyone to keep the power, and if you rock the boat too much you get kicked in the teeth.
  17. actually that had more to do on the comment you made about me not getting out of hick Ohio
  18. I am not saying it is right or wrong. I am just saying that is how a large chuck of the corporate world works. Appearances matter is the point, and if you don't let kids learn that on their own in a semi controlled environment (AKA School) they will just have to learn it later in life when it bites them in that ass
  19. actually been around the world, and am aware that there are freaks everywhere. Hell I am a freak and I know it and I love it.
  20. does one click pick on the other, yes they do. I tend to always end up on the neutral ones, but I see it day in and day out. The "popular" people talk shit and maneuver against the less popular people. And it is funny how more times than not you can tell the difference by what they wear and drive.
  21. The over the top crazy shit they wear as a rebellion for being forced in uniforms 6 days a week.
  22. when was the last time it mattered? Most of my adult life including where I am at with the State now. The software company I was at before that, and the major bank I was at before that. All 3 environments was VERY HS like, right down to the clicks and who you eat lunch with. Yes there are jobs that require uniforms, this is true. There are places I am sure where what you you are dressed in does not matter, but there is a hell of a lot of jobs where it does. Let not confuse the subject of uniform vs dress code. I do not agree with the girls that show up looking like hookers or the jack asses with the pants 3 sizes too big, but pushing to uniforms is just plain dumb. Kids keep showing up out of BASIC dress code fine the parents and as far as dress codes working, maybe to some extent, but look that the ugly side of that, check out Japan and what their kids look like when they are not in school.

  24. it just prepares them for real life, where it does matter what you wear and what brand is on your shirt or what not. High School never ends, the building just changes.
