Thanks SilverFox, I read the blog post and that answers many of my questions.

If this is addressed in another post, I am sorry, I did a search and did not see it. I am thinking of doing a ride to FLA or somewhere like that this spring or as soon as the weather breaks. With that said, I have never done more then a day trip on a bike. So my question to the masses is: What should I bring? What should I prepare for? Sure I know I need to be ready for weather, both good and bad, but what else? Are certain hotel chains more bike friendly then others? I am looking for general advice for this.

Well I don't have a Harley, but I do have the accessory you speak of. Why? Why bike the neighbor had that taught me to ride had them, so there is this memory of way back then when life was more simple. Why he had them? I was told something about rain will go down them and away from you and not up your arm and what not. Is it true? Hell if I know.

I have a Midland kit in my helmet. On the commute i get the traffic reports to help keep me out of the highest concentrations of idiot cagers. The Midland kit is nice. Mounts well on my lid, connects to my iPhone and I can still hear what is going on around me.
