I've got the Shoei DS but I rarely wear it. The visor picks up to much air at speed on pavement. I usually go with a flipface.

Friend of mine in England raced one last year. He loved it. It had the full race kit--Termingoni pipes, oil cooler moved up behind the number plate, special forks. Harley sells a race kit for the AMA series, too, but you couldn't run a lot of those parts on the street. I like what you've done to yours. It's the only Harley I'd consider.

I had a V-Star for a year and sold it because the foot-forward riding position (even when not using the highway pegs) did not give me adequate control (and also because the bike was a dog). But it is a personal preference.

I installed Hot Grips brand on my V-Strom. These are similar to the Oxfords. Installation was very easy. The hardest part was getting the old grips off. Some grips will come off with WD-40 and a thin screwdriver. Mine were glued on and had to be heated and eventually cut off. I used Posi-Lock connectors because I am a lousy solderer. I also used a rotary variable switch, rather than the three position switch. Works great.

Then you now it was rained out. They will have 6 KTM track days next year, starting in April. See you there!

Paul repaired and ppainted my daughter's Kawi Ninjette. Must have put 50 coats of clearcoat on it. It's Kawi green, but no OEM paint job was that perty! Great job, Paul! Now find a NSR50!

I agree. At that speed, I can think of nothing other than road condition that would cause a slip. Also, at 200+ you are pushing the Ninjette pretty hard. At 190, I give my daughter's 250 a pretty hard time. If you want to continue riding this bike, you do need to upgrade the suspension.

I agree with this. I think about pointing my chin toward the exit point. The inputs follow. Works for me.

Some friends of mine are riding up from Virginia next week. I will meet them at Ravenswood, West Virginia. We will take 124 and 144 to Coolville. Any suggestions for how to get from Coolville to New Albany/east Columbus?

Warm weather: Nolan flipface, Cycleport Ultra II mesh jacket, Cyleport Kevlar jeans or Ultra II mesh overpants, Tourmaster mesh and armor gauntlet gloves, Sidi Discovery boots Cold weather: Add liners to Cycleport gear, add Tourmaster electric liner jacket, switch to Olympia 3 season gloves and turn on the grip heaters 12 miles one way, half two lane, half slab. I keep a blazer at the office and bring pants and shoes in a backpack.

The V-Strom will do the job. I spent a week on the DR650 in Mexico. Great in the dirt; no fun on the highway.

I agree. I have a pinky extension that slips onto the bottom of the clip to give a little more grip. Some think a 9mm is a little light but I find it far more accurate than my Glock .40. But that's probably just me. The 26 is a little bulky for CC but doable. Fragmented rounds will offset somewhat the slightly lower stopping power of the 9.
