  1. I've been told a few ways too cool down the engine after a long ride. I used to just kill the engine and let the fan run until it turned itself off. That was, until someone told me that that was almost useless and the best way was to just ride at low RPMs for the last few miles of the ride. Anybody have any input and/or a better way?
  2. DERP DERP HURRRR Im not that stupid, my friend.
  3. Well, I've never done anything with fluids on a motorcycle. I'm not even entirely sure I have the tools for the job.
  4. Thanks for all of the help, guys. I'm supposed to be getting a complete fluid change soon, so I wanted to get a few opinions before I brought the noise issue up with a mechanic.
  5. I really have no clue. My knowledge of motorcycles is limited, and I don't want some sleaze mechanic telling me it's one thing so he can overcharge me.
  6. So, this happened about a month and a half ago before I got out of the military and came back to Ohio. I was riding down some boring road in South Carolina when my low fuel light surprised me (as usual) and came on. Subsequently, the engine started making a "throaty" sound, much different from the typical engine noises. I figured maybe it was because the tank was almost empty, and the hollow space was making a weird echo. Well, I filled up and started the bike and it was still making the same noise. I THINK I have a little bit of torque loss in 1st and 2nd gear, but I'm not sure if I'm just being paranoid. tl;dr 2008 Yamaha R6 engine putting out a throatier than normal sound. It doesn't have that slightly high-pitched whine and rumble that it normally has. Any ideas?
  7. Thanks for all of the welcoming, everyone. To everyone who is near my area: Keep me in the loop whenever you plan any group rides!
  8. What's up everyone. My name is Matthew and I am a "new" rider in Ohio. I use quotes because I am originally from Ohio; however, I just got done serving 4 years in the Marine Corps. I just got back home and I'm looking for great riding opportunities. I've been riding for a little more than two years; I have a 2008 Limited Edition Yamaha R6.
