  1. Welcome!

Reading through this thread brought back great memories of when me and a bunch of buddies first got bikes... We learned together and had a blast the first season, actually that was some of the funnest times we had together. As seasons went on we started to ride with other people and soon some of the guys were involved with other things... Ego's came out, guys got in trouble, and the guys I was close to that first year parted ways. :( Anyways again enjoy your first bike and all that comes with it!

That is exactly what I was thinking, minus the later part. Two buddies and myself all were learning about the same time. I got my license back in 2001, and for the most part there really wasn't any motocycle related forums. I probably would of had a easier go round with it, even though I did pretty good on my own, but it would have been nice to get some info as far as gear and other techniques.

    I started on a 94 Seca II.

Yes before asked, that is inside a house (I realize that looks hillbilly). Its in an old farmhouse that we use for storage, and where we keep our bikes in the winter so I can get them out of the garage.

  2. Interesting just in time for an upcoming election year. Then once he gets back in office (I hope not), the gates will close. Nothing like trying to please the sheeple where it hits them most.

yah i mean what the fuck did he do anyway?

    and also...

look. just to be clear. im not saying that obama did it ALL and the increase in production is 100% due to him. obviously thats not true. of course there has been increased production in north dakota which has helped out.

but to say that he hasnt done anything, wouldnt be true either.

gas prices and oil production are complex issues, and no one party is 100% responsible for either of those. its not like obama sets the price of gas for the country when he wakes up each morning. changes in our oil production do not happen overnight either.

i feel that while domestic oil production has a large role in our energy security and our economy, its maybe not enough to change oil prices globally long term.

  3. old ones were stock 16's with Bf goodrich Rugged terrains i will be keeping them for the winter as they are really only 8-9 months old

    Gotcha.

I was hoping for a set of new OEM 18's or 20's. I've been looking at Escalade or Burban / Yukon rims, but for the price people are asking for OEM used rims, I might as well go with aftermarket new.

  4. I might be driving my truck down, and all I have is a soft tonneau cover on it. Its a crew cab, so I still don't like leaving them in the open cab. I'm going to do some checking with the gun club and see if they will look after them, or maybe get creative with a 2 double gun cases, a 20' master lock cable, big key lock in the hotel room, and the closet.

We shall see, if I'm not comfortable I'll just bring the golf clubs and hope someone does me a favor and steals those.

  5. For some reason that's exactly what I see when I look at Michelle Obama.

Exactly what I thought myself, and for Hussein Obama.

Even for the other presidents for some reason all of the above seem pretty close to what I would think they would be like.

I have read that both of the Bushes were loved by the Secret Service, the elders especially.

  6. *Here are snippets from a book of "Impressions & Observations" of Secret Service personnel assigned to guard U.S. Presidents/First Ladies, and Vice Presidents.*

Don't know how true / false this is, this was from one of those "crazy" internet emails. Just thought it was interesting.

JOHN & JACQUELINE KENNEDY : *A philanderer of the highest order. *

*She ordered the kitchen help to save all the left-over wine

during State dinner, which mixed with fresh wine and

served again during the next White House occasion.*

    *LYNDON & LADYBIRD JOHNSON *Another

philanderer of the highest order. In addition, LBJ was as

crude as the day is long.*

*Both JFK and LBJ kept a lot of women in the White

House for extramarital affairs, and both had set up "early

warning systems" to alert them if/when their wives were

nearby. Both Kennedy & Johnson were promiscuous and

    oversexed men. *

*She was either naive or just pretended to "not know" about

    her husband's many liaisons. *

    *RICHARD & PAT NIXON ** *

*A "moral" man but very odd and weird, paranoid, etc. He

had horrible relationship with his family, and in a way, was

    almost a recluse.*

*She was quiet most of the time.*

*SPIRO AGNEW:** Nice, decent man, everyone in the

Secret Service was surprised about his downfall. *

    *GERALD & BETTY FORD: ** *

*A true gentlemen who treated the Secret Service with

respect and dignity. He had a great sense of humor.. *

    *She drank a lot!*

    *JIMMY & ROSALYN CARTER: ** *

*A complete phony who would portray one picture of

himself to public and very different in private, e..g., would

be shown carrying his own luggage, but the suit cases were

always empty; he kept empty ones just for photo op's.

Wanted the people to see him as pious and a non-drinker,

but he and his family drank alcohol a lot. He had disdain

for the Secret Service, and was very irresponsible with the

"football" nuclear codes. He didn't think it was a big deal

and would keep military aides at a great distance. Often

does not acknowledge the presence of Secret Service

    personnel assigned to serve him.*

*She mostly did her own thing.*

    *RONALD & NANCY REAGAN: ** *

*The real deal --- moral, honest, respectful, and dignified.

They treated Secret Service and everyone else with respect

and honor. Thanked everyone all the time. He took the time

to know everyone on a personal level. *

*One "favorite" story which has circulated among the

Secret Service personnel was an incident early in his

Presidency, when he came out of his room with a pistol

tucked on his hip. The agent in charge asked: "Why the

pistol, Mr. President?" He replied, "In case you boys can't

get the job done, I can help." It was common for him to

carry a pistol. When he met with Gorbachev, he had a pistol

in his briefcase. Upon learning that Gary Hart was caught

with Donna Rice, Reagan said, "Boys will be boys, but

boys will not be Presidents." [He obviously either did not

know or forgot JFK's and LBJ's sexcapades!]*

*She was very nice but very protective of the President; and

the Secret Service was often caught in the middle. She tried

hard to control what the President ate, and he would say to

the agent "Come on, you gotta help me out."

The Reagans drank wine during State dinners and special

occasions only; otherwise, they shunned alcohol; the Secret

Service could count on one hand the times they were served

wine during their "family dinner". For all the fake bluster of

the Carters, the Reagans were the ones who lived life as

    genuinely moral people.*

*GEORGE H. & BARBARA BUSH: *Extremely kind

and considerate Always respectful. Took great care in

making sure the agents' comforts were taken care of. They

    even brought them meals, etc.

*One time Barbara Bush brought warm clothes to agents

standing outside at Kennebunkport ; one agent who was

given a warm hat, and when he tried to nicely say "no

thanks" even though he was obviously freezing, President

Bush said "Son, don't argue with the First Lady, put the hat

on.." He was the most prompt of the Presidents. He ran the

White House like a well-oiled machine.*

She ruled the house and spoke her mind.*

BILL & HILLARY CLINTON: **Presidency was one

giant party. Not trustworthy --- he was nice because

he wanted everyone to like him, but to him life is just

one big game and party. Everyone knows of his

    sexuality.*

She is another phony. Her personality would change the

instant cameras were near. She hated with open disdain the

military and Secret Service. She was another one who felt

people are there to serve her. She was always trying to keep

    tabs on Bill Clinton.*

ALBERT GORE: An egotistical ass, who was once

overheard by his Secret Service detail lecturing his

only son that he needed to do better in school or he

"would end up like these guys" --- pointing to the

    agents.*

GEORGE W. & LAURA BUSH: The Secret Service

    loved him and Laura Bush.

He was also the most physically "in shape" who had a very

strict workout regimen. The Bushes made sure their entire

administrative and household staff understood to respect

and be considerate of the Secret Service. KARL ROVEwas

the one who was the most caring of the Secret Service in

    the administration.*

    *She was one of the nicest First Ladies, if not the nicest;

she never had any harsh word to say about anyone.*

    BARACK & MICHELLE OBAMA: "

Clinton all over again" - hates the military and looks down o n the

Secret Service. He is egotistical and cunning; looks

you in the eye and appears to agree with you, but

turns around and does the opposite---untrustworthy.

    He has temper tantrums.*

She is a complete bitch, who hates anybody who is not

black; hates the military; and looks at the Secret Service as

    servants.*

  7. I'm heading out of town to go south for a long weekend with the parents / brothers / girlfriends at the end of march. There are several gun ranges in the area and we all were wanting to go shoot sporting clays and trap. So I'm going to have to take my 4 shotguns.

My only problem is storing them. Transporting them is no biggie as I've got double gun cases. I'm trying to figure out what's the best way to leave them in a hotel while I'm out. Obviously you'd have no maid service. I've thought about getting a cable and sliding them under the bed and locking them to the bed frame. I would prefer to not leave them in any vehicle overnight or during the day unless I had to (I still wouldn't trust the trunk of a car). It would be great to bring a cheap Stack On box with a Hilti .22lr concrete anchor gun and drive some anchors in the floor and walls, but I doubt the hotel would like that.

    Just searching for ideas.

  8. It was my truck that Brian did the dyno work on.

The base HP was right around 201 HP and 270 ish TQ. I was surprised that the base was that low, I would have figured 220 ish.

It's an 04 with the 5.3. As far as bolt-on's it has a Magnaflow Cat-back, and a cold air intake.

The truck for what it is, was okay as far as acceleration in around town speeds, and on the highway it was sluggish, and would feel labored. Being an automatic the shifting was slow. It did good pulling my boat, but I'm now curious as to how it will do afterwards.

After Brian went through and took away some of the torque management, upped the line pressure in the trans, took away the 98mph speed limiter and adjusted a few other things. The truck had a very different feeling, the throttle response was much better, shifts were a tighter / faster, off the line acceleration was nice. On the highway back home accelerating from 75 to 95 was faster, and even holding highway speeds seemed easier for it.

All in all I'm very happy with the truck and Brian's work. I'm pretty particular as Brian can probably attest with all the questions I was texting him. He answered everything I texted and then asked at the shop and took the time to explain what he was doing. You can't go wrong with a guy that doesn't mind you looking over his shoulder or asking questions.

    Thanks again Brian.

  9. How Big is a Trillion?

In the U.S., one trillion is written as the number "1" followed by 12 zeros (1,000,000,000,000). One year of clock time =

    (60sec/min) x (60 min/hr) x (24 hr/da) x (365.25 da) = 3.16 x 107 sec

One trillion seconds of ordinary clock time =

    ( 1012 sec)/( 3.16 x 107 sec/yr) = 31,546 years!

Six trillion seconds equals 189,276 years. Now, as an aside, along with the nearly six trillion miles in the light-year, you might be interested to know that there are nearly five trillion dollars in the current U.S. national debt. Is it any wonder that our politicians in Washington are concerned?

(An interesting bit of trivia: If one were to count the national Debt at the rate of one dollar per second, he or she would have to use a mechanical counter to click off the digits. Why? Because, if he or she counted in the usual way, saying "one, two, three, …" etc., there would be numbers whose names are so large, that it would take more than a second of clock time to pronounce them. For example: "Nine hundred and ninety nine billion, nine hundred and ninety nine million, nine hundred and ninety nine thousand, nine hundred and ninety nine," takes about 8 seconds to pronounce.)
