Isn't Hilliard in Columbus? I'm hoping to find someone a bit closer. I've been watching some videos and toying with changing them myself. I'm not sure I should take the chance of ruining my rim though as a first time tire changer:D If I came to Hilliard I'd have to bring the truck in order to transport the wheels and the new tires, which would cost me quite a bit in gas. I don't want to ride 2 hours with 2 tires around my waist, lol!

J.D. Power and Associates 2011 U.S. Motorcycle Helmet Satisfaction Results
roxynoodle replied to Casper's topic in Daily Ride
I only have experience with Scorpion and Bell, both of which fit me well. I prefer the Bell. It's nearly a perfect fit and has the easiest shield changes imaginable. It also seems to flow more air. Shoei and HJC just don't fit my head. I haven't found the right Arai for my head yet either. -
I was wondering if anyone in my area (NW Ohio) is willing to help me change my tires. I will pay you for this service, of course. I need them mounted and balanced. I don't yet have appropriate stands (single sided swingarm bike) so we will need to be a bit creative. May have to do the rear first, put it back on and then tie the bike back on the centerstand. I also don't have the tools to mount and balance the tires. I'm being quoted like $120 for this from both dealerships and independent bike shops. I figured there might be someone in my area that could help and make a bit of money since you've already invested in the tools. I still need to order the new tires, but figured maybe I should shop around first for someone to change them. Any help is very much appreciated:)

Geez, that does suck. I used to use a bicycle cable lock to lock my helmet through the chinbar to the ex passenger grab bar. Now I put it in my locking luggage on my Sprint.

Walt hated everyone except his dog and his dead wife. It wasn't just the races that ruined the neighborhood; look at how he felt about his own sons and grandchildren. Admittedly, the granddaughter was a little bitch. He even treated the priest like crap at first because he hated the church, too. I think they picked Asians due to his having fought in Korea.

Hey now, some wimmin know what they ride:D

It's definitely worth watching. I'm not a fan of Harleys so much, but it's great drama.
-
Well, I think people recommend the bike they have because they know the most about it. That only makes sense. As for gas mileage, my lard ass Sprint gets almost as good gas mileage as my ex500 did.

Yep, you also get a 10% discount at bikebandit for parts. And the cool magazine.

It's a nice looking bike. Enjoy your new ride!

Well, I have a bike that if I crash it on a track, it really doesn't matter:D Someone before me has laid it down a couple of times already, lol! That was why I bought it. I figured I'd do a track day or 2 then sell it to someone else for the same purpose. I suppose it may get some funny looks being 24 years old now. Technology wise it's quite the relic.

^ Yeah, it really depends on what kind of 4 stroke you're talking about. A CRF 230 or TTR230 will need very little maintenance. But, don't go riding mx tracks with it. I would be skittish about buying a used 4 stroke mx bike. It really can cost more to rebuild it than it's worth. I have always ridden 2 strokes. A gearing change and heavier flywheel will help you to lug it. Right now though I'm riding a kx100 instead of a 125 and I find I can do mx or trails with it just fine in stock form. Admittedly, that's too small of a bike for many people. KTM makes many 2 strokes that work just fine on trails. You can buy pretty much anything from them between their 105 and the 300 to suit your needs.

I usually have good look with ebay, but I once used a website called mrcycleparts or something like that. It sends your message about what you're looking for to salvage yards all over the country. When one has what you want, you get a message back.

Oops! Sorry, Dave, I'm so bad with names. I have no idea how I learned 150+ students a year. Another good bike to consider might be a Concours 1000. I see 2000 year models or so all the time for the price you have to spend. Sporty but comfortable for you and your gf. SV1000s tend to be cheaper than VFRs. Sprints are kind of in between. I have seen a 98 VFR out here in your price range. It has the sweet gear driven cams. Check out the FZ1 as well. I can already tell you what will happen with your ex though. Once you have the bigger bike, you will stop riding it and it will sit there. I wanted to keep mine, too, but after realizing I only rode it like 200 miles last year, it was time to sell it.

TBH, I like the 955 better than the 1050:eek:. I grew up near Berea; Middleburg Heights for the first 10 years of my life. Then we moved to Brecksville. I have ridden out to my Cleveland Clinic appointments, lol!

It makes me very sad to see that more people have the wrong answer:(. I am a mathematician and the correct answer is 2.

Yeah, if they start chasing me with shovels, I hope I can still run!

A motorcycle has "brakes" not "breaks". If it has "breaks" you shouldn't be riding it. We don't bitch in the womens' forum. We look at pics of hot men (luncheon meat).

I'll be 43 this year. And I don't see myself ever riding anything but sportier bikes. Ok, maybe an adventure bike some day.
-
Hi Cornbread (was it Charles?). I met you back on ex500 and was the one that let you know about your ex. If you like the riding position on the ex, you would like a VFR, Sprint or SV1000. May as well go for more power with 2 up riding. None of those will be "too much" like a liter superbike. They are on the hefty side but I'm a chick whose 5'4" and 130lbs and I manage, lol! And your passenger will thank you.

Just so you know, you are responsible for any damage incurred on the KTM if you crash it. I know someone who did that last year, lol! She ended up owing them about $3k. They do only charge you for what you wreck, not the whole bike. There are nice track bikes you can buy for that price. Sure, I'll ride out to Nelson Ledges. That would be a nice ride. Oh, Bellboy has that nice ZZR inline fuel filter on his bike. I guess I can ask on insurance again, but I was told no, a track day is racing. I just said, oh, ok. Then when the $300 zx came along, I snatched that up instead.
-
A track crash won't be more severe. But, insurance will cover a street crash!
-
I am biased, too, because I have a Triumph, but this is a great all around bike. The torque is downright addictive. I think tall riders would like it, too, because my knees don't even touch the tank, lol! It's plenty roomy.
-
It's easy to get thrown off. You just have to get SC mad at you and then KS will toss you. Yep, still have the old ZX6, and still want to do a track day with it. I'm not willing to expose the Sprint to the possibility of a track crash.

I'd especially be interested in an electric dirt bike. Might get us back some of those riding areas that have been closed now. And have you ever seen one hill climb? They definitely surpass our gas powered ones!
