With approximately 30,000 service members riding motorcycles, the Department of Defense realized in the not-so-distant past that the high likelihood of injury associated with motorcycle accidents may have an adverse effect on end strength. In the interest of preserving morale by not enforcing an outright ban on motorcycles, it was decided that certain kinds of equipment had a significant effect on reducing the chances of a collision involving a motorcycle. Consequently, new regulations for motorcycle use by service members were created stressing, among other things, retro-reflective gear. Enter the MIL SPEC 2 vest from Icon. A new color from HJC in their popular RPHA-10 lineup, the Halcyon, is now available from Riders Discount! The shell of the RPHA-10 is an advanced composite that combines carbon fiber, fiberglass epoxy, aramid epoxy and organic fibers in a precisely aligned weave that excels in strength, energy absorption and weight savings. Fleece side curtains eliminate the #1 cause of heat loss by protecting the tires from side winds. Also note the easy pull Velcro strap. Heat intensity is selectable between 130°-140° F (warm) to 170°-180° F (hot) settings. An indicator light is located where the power cord makes its way into the warmer element. It will shine red as the tires are coming up to temperature and green when they’re ready. Heating coils are tightly spaced to provide even temperatures throughout the tire carcass. This prevents hot spots from forming and increases tire life.
