  1. Was there any interest in returning to Grattan? I know it was on there I believe in 2012 but was cancelled due to weather (I think). Any thoughts on trying it again?
  2. The fourth rendition of the long running line of Kagayama graphics has just been released by Shoei for their X-12 helmets. The paint features the two stripes that we have seen on previous versions, but each they side is now dominated by a mechanized, Terminator-like skull motif. Everything to do with the paint scheme is applied with the quality that we’ve come to expect from Shoei. The Shoei X-12 Kagayama 4 is available in two colors - Blue and Black. If you are interested in this, or any other Shoei helmet, just get in touch with Nathan and he’ll be happy to help. You can reach him through this forum or by calling 866.931.6644 ext. 809. Is email more convenient? Feel free to send those to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM for a quick reply! The Shoei X-12 Kagayama 4 is shown here in the Blue colorway.

More on the Bell RS-1 Helmet: Motorcycle helmets are meant to do one thing above all others, and that is to keep your head safe. This common goal doesn’t mean that choosing a helmet is easy, however. The shear number of options and features can make shopping for one a daunting task. Luckily there are helmets like the Bell RS-1 out there to help simplify things. The Bell RS-1 is a jack-of-all-trades that comes from boiling down many features from the top-of-the-line Bell Star into a mid-range helmet. Don’t let the mid-range designation fool you though, as it punches well above its weight (especially at this sale price!). The Bell RS-1 is a SNELL M2010 and DOT approved helmet that sits in a sweet spot, both performance and price-wise. The sleek, aggressively shaped shell is made from a Kevlar/Fiberglass composite that makes it both strong and lightweight. The RS-1’s shell cuts a profile that is similar to that of the Bell Star, which results in an excellent aerodynamic balance that keeps buffeting to a minimum. Air also flows through the helmet very well. The Velocity Flow Ventilation system is adjustable and quietly keeps your head cool. Internally, the Bell RS-1 is a comfortable place to be. The lining and cheek pads feel very plush on the skin, right out of the box. They also break in quickly. An Agion Antibacterial treatment helps keep things fresh, but the lining is fully removable and washable in case things get a bit too sweaty. The RS-1 comes with a clear NutraFog II anti-fog/anti-scratch shield, which is the same as the Star. The ClickRelease shield mechanism is also shared, making for shield changes that can be done in seconds. As of this post, there is no other helmet that can do everything that the Bell RS-1 is capable of for anywhere near our sale price of $159. It offers track-level performance and street-ready comfort without compromising much in either area. 10. 2013 was the year of Marc Marquez in MotoGP. He took the premier class by storm during his rookie year and broke numerous records on his way to winning the championship. He also followed the lead of one of his idols, Valentino Rossi, and wore a special one-off helmet during his home race at the Catalan Grand Prix. This helmet is now available as the Shoei X-12 Montmelo Marquez. The name of the helmet comes from the municipality of Montmelo, which is home to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (home of the Catalan Grand Prix) is located. The theme of the helmet is based around Marc Marquez’s nickname, “”El Tro de Cervera”, or the Thunder from Cervera, and features a lightning bolt motif that streaks across the top. Everything is perfectly applied - as we have come to expect from Shoei. If you are interested in the Shoei X-12 Montmelo Marquez, or any other Shoei helmet, you can get more information by contacting Nathan at 866.931.6644 ext. 809. Is email more convenient? 11. Definitely! I have Yosh on my personal bike as well. Good quality pipe.
  12. Yoshimura R-77 slip-on exhausts are an easy way to enhance the performance, sound and look of your bike. The R-77 features a trapezoidal shape that, in addition to looking sharp, maximizes the muffler volume and allows for a larger amount of packing material. The result is a slightly more power and a sound that is much better, without being unnecessarily loud. A lower weight than the stock muffler adds to the benefits. Yoshimura R-77 slip-on exhausts come with the muffler, stainless mid-pipe, and all the necessary mounting hardware. If you are interested in a Yoshimura R-77 slip-on exhaust for your bike, just get in touch with Nathan by calling 866.931.6644 ext. 809 or contact him through this forum. Is email more convenient? 14. This excellent deal is still available! We still have it in all sizes, although XL and XXL are now down to limited numbers. Here’s another look at the Bell RS-1 Emblem Hi-Vis Yellow on a white background. It’s hard to capture the Hi-Vis nature of the paint in photos, but it definitely pops in person!
  15. Arai has added another new graphic to their Corsair-V line - the Rea-3. Based on the latest helmet worn by Irish WSBK rider Jonathan Rea, the Rea-3 doesn’t feature the numbers or mascots often found on racer-replica lids and focuses on the outstanding paint scheme instead. Just like the design, wearing an Arai helmet is always an outstanding experience, and the Corsair-V is at the top of the Arai food chain. The unbeatable protection, superior ventilation, exceptional comfort and ability to fully customize the fit with a variety of cheekpads and headliners make the Corsair-V one of the best helmets money can buy. If you are interested in the Arai Corsair-V Rea-3 you can get more information by contacting Nathan at 866.931.6644 ext. 809. Is email more convenient? Feel free to send one to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away!
  16. Shoei is one of the best in the business when it comes to graphics, and there are no shortage of options for the awesome RF-1200. Here’s a look at two more color options for the Shoei RF-1200 Dominance - White/Red/Blue and Black/Blue.
  17. We have all the Defiant graphics available except for the Chronos, not just the Jolly Rogers pictured here.
  18. Just like the bikes we ride, motorcycle helmets are designed fulfill different needs based upon where and how they will be used. Some are meant to offer uncompromising performance and maximum airflow under racing conditions, and others will provide a quieter, less hardcore experience that is much more comfortable on the street. The Arai Corsair-V pretty much defines the first category, while the new Arai Defiant falls into the second. The Arai Defiant has a construction that is loosely based on the RX-Q, meaning that it has all the build-quality and safety features one would expect from Arai. The outer shell is made from hand-laid fiberglass that has been shaped into a smooth, spherical shape that has been engineered to transfer stress evenly across its surface in the event of an impact. The shell also features peripheral belting in across the forehead and the patented Arai Hyper-Ridge around the base for increased strength with a low center of gravity. Underneath this shell is a multi-density EPS liner that is specifically designed to absorb impact energy in a way that is similar to the crumple zones of a modern car or truck. One area that the Defiant differs from other helmets in Arai’s line-up is the way that it manages airflow. This is because Arai’s inspiration for the Defiant was actually the latest crop of high-performance naked bikes with a slightly more upright riding position and less wind protection. Both of factors lead to a higher volume of air hitting the helmet at any given time, and Arai used its MotoGP program to develop a new type of flared chin spoiler in order to combat the issues this can cause. This addition reduces lateral movement, lift, buffeting and wind noise. A more familiar rear spoiler and pair of stabilizers at the back round out the aerodynamic feature-set at the back. Ventilation also received a significant amount of attention for the same reasons as the aforementioned aerodynamic features, and the resulting ventilation system is one of the best we have encountered. All of the vents are brand new for the Defiant and not only flow tons of air when you need it, but also create an amazingly quiet seal when closed. At first glance, the most noticeable of these is the chin vent. It has a 3-stage switch that you can use to toggle between directing air to the face, the shield, and to close it completely. Intakes on top of the head are a slick new style that close very tightly and are easy to operate with a gloved hand. Two that are easily overlooked are the vents in the shield. They look like those found on other Arai’s, but instead of venting to the forehead, the air is channeled around to the temples and ears. According to Arai, this cools the blood flowing to the brain through the temporal artery. We lacked the medical equipment to test this claim, but we can say that it does feel great to have airflow in this normally stuffy area. Inside the Arai Defiant you will find a plush lining and cheek pad system that surrounds your head in soft, premium materials. Dry-Max fabric keeps sweat from soaking into the cheek pads, while Dry-Cool fabric and 3D-mesh in the rest of the liner quickly dissipate heat. Further moisture control comes from a new type of water-resistant neck roll that helps keep you dry on rainy days. The fit of the Arai Defiant is similar to the intermediate oval head shape of the RX-Q, but it it also has layers of 5mm foam in the temples and cheek pads that allow you to customize it to your liking. Vision through the wide, SAI eye-port is excellent and features the absolute best in anti-fog technology. The Defiant comes standard with a clear, Pinlock Max-Vision shield and insert that creates a fog-free seal that covers the entire field of vision. With the Defiant, Arai set out to develop the ultimate helmet for naked bikes, but the features make it one of the best street helmets out there regardless of the type of bike. The new aerodynamic and ventilation features that were meant for riding without the wind protection of a fairing actually make for a quiet and stable ride on any bike. Interested in the Arai Defiant helmet? Get in touch with Nathan for expert sizing advice or to place an order. He can be reached at 866.931.6644 ext. 809 or through this forum. If email is more convenient, feel free to send one to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM and we’ll get back to you right away! The Arai Defiant is shown here in the Hayes Jolly Roger-2 graphic. The new chin vent has a 3-stage switch that you can use to toggle between directing air to the face, the shield, and to close it completely Brow vents in the shield channel air around to the temples and ears instead of to the forehead. According to Arai, this cools the blood flowing to the brain through the temporal artery. The new top vents are aerodynamic and create a tight seal when closed. They are very easy to operate with gloved hands. Arai used its MotoGP program to develop a new type of flared chin spoiler in order to lateral movement, lift, buffeting and wind noise. The rear spoiler provides stability and houses two adjustable extractor vents that pull the stale air out from around your head.

While we generally focus on the limited edition graphics when posting photos and reviews here, we do know they aren’t for everyone. Ogio knows this as well, and that is why they also produce them in more low-key colors like the Stealth Black option shown here for the Rig 9800. The Ogio Rig 9800 Stealth Black is shown here next to the Arai Defiant Hayes Jolly Roger-2 Helmet for scale.
