  1. Thanks for posting the link Dubguy. We're uber excited to get going with Jake. We'll have him test our BMW S1000RR and our YZF-R1 at a yet-to-be determined date/location so he can figure out which bike he wants to ride (and where) in American Superbike. I'll post some more info on the builds later on, but here are the choices: Yamaha YZF-R1 BMW S1000RR

With all the money you’re saving with this deal, get a good gear bag, like the Ogio 9800 to keep all your gear in one place and ready to go when you head the track. Alpinestars focused on designing the MX-1 suit specifically for track riders. With that in mind, ventilation was addressed to meet the needs of a rider at high speed while eliminating areas that are less effective on a racing motorcycle. The MX-1 is perforated in all the right areas for the rider in a racing position; either in full tuck or when hanging off the bike. The suit takes advantage of air passing by the sides and above the rider – where bodywork does not block or otherwise inhibit air from coming into contact with the suit. With the rider in a full tuck, perforations on the chest are of little effect, so Alpinestars uses the sides of the torso and the upper arms to address this issue. In addition to the perforated leather, the stretch material on the underside of the arms also helps support the very effective cooling properties of the suit. Not only does the air get into the suit as the rider moves down the track, but the perforations flanking the torso help draw sweat and moisture off of the rider for a comfortable ride. To deliver cooling air to the upper back, the MX-1 Alpinestars suit relies on these hard plastic shoulder protectors. With this design, it possible to safely deliver air to the upper back without sacrificing the integrity of an extremely vulnerable area of the suit. In fact, these shoulder protectors not only enhance ventilation, but they also help dissipate impact energy in the event of a crash, increase abrasion resistance of this critical joint and they reduce the likelihood of tumbling too! As you can see, these shoulder protectors are not only well-placed from a safety standpoint, but they’re also in an excellent location to send cooling air to the rider regardless of his position on the bike. Alpinestars has also relies on a perforated aerodynamic hump to push cooling air into the suit and straight to the middle back. Unfortunately, some back protectors can block this cooling effect if they’re not perforated. If this describes the unit you’re using, talk to us about getting a Forcefield ProSub4 or Pro L2 back protector – these are not only the best back protectors on the market in terms of impact performance, but they’re also extremely comfortable thanks to their well thought-out ventilation schemes that work superbly with ventilated humps like the one you see on the Alpinestars MX-1 leather suit. The upper thighs are also highly perforated to take advantage of air passing by the rider at speed to keep him cool. As you can clearly see, the ventilation systems employed on Alpinestars’ MX-1 suit are specifically designed for the track-going performance rider. Suit perforations are designed perfectly to compliment modern sportbikes while at the same time enhancing safety. You’ll stay cool and comfortable on the bike so you can enjoy your time at the track with the Alpinestars MX-1 leather suit.
