  1. I'd rather watch the mongoose and snakes. :D Their shit stinks less.;)

Snakes are fine as long as I don't have to feed them live mice. At least infants don't have teeth and go batshit crazy on you.

But honestly, I do need work. I will train dogs or walk them if you want that. If you want me to be your hired pooper-scooper, I'll do that too.

  2. I failed my exam twice before I got my license. One time was a complete downpour and I couldn't see the cones. Second time, the lot was a sheet of ice and I tapped a cone and it went sliding. That's Cleveland for ya.

I'd like to add I have never been in a car accident, nor have I ever received a ticket in my life. How many of you guys can say that?

  3. Do you watch cat and what size cats do you watch

I would be in 7th heaven taking care of your cats. I've seen pictures! I originally went to college for zoology. Kept it as part of one of my minors. Was my dream growing up to work with the big cats. As much as I'd love to cuddle with them, I understand they are still feral and would be realistic about the situation :( You're probably just toying with my emotions though...

  4. Maybe both!

No, I don't kick the dog around. She's just a very difficult to train animal. Personally, I don't think she gets enough attention. I never even wanted her, and I bet I pay more attention to her than everyone else in the house, and I DON'T LIKE HER! I get so mad when the boys won't take her out with them to play, even though once they do play with her, they have fun. Maybe the boys need re-named to football?

  5. If anyone in the C-bus area needs a sitter or knows of someone who does, I am available.

I am currently CPR/AED certified, background and education as a Medical Assistant, and worked in security for over 8 yrs. I have had to respond to medical emergencies in the past, one was life threatening and I was the first responder. I also worked at a summer camp for two years as a counselor and the Arts & Crafts Director. During college I worked as a tutor for high school students and I was a big sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters for 3 years.

Completely clean background. Have my own transportation. Available anytime. Great with pets too if you need a pet sitter! I have several pets of my own and have always been around animals. Studied animal behavior in college as well.

  6. I'm doing the carbs on my 73 cb500 and my dad said he's gonna adjust the carb to match the others. I'm not good with carbs but DTM Brian is supposed to good with that stuff. I even hear about him on Craigslist.

My dad would too, but they live up north. My dad has helped a lot with this bike, but he's also meant well and messed it up lol. My huge set back is not having money to take it anywhere or being able to pay anyone to work on it. My situation is pretty messed up right now. I don't even know if I will have gas money to ride it once it finally is fixed lol! Actually, once it's fixed, it's getting sold asap.

  7. you can measure the float height a couple of ways. the only tool you really need is a caliper, or a piece of hose.

first, you can hold the carb in your hand with the bowl off, and start inverting in until the valve just seats. not all the way over. many valves have a small springy end in them. you dont want that compressed, you just want the valve seated. when its seated take your caliper and measure the distance from the carb body/gasket to the top of the float. ive found its easier to use the depth gauge. voila that is your float height. bend the tang on the floats to adjust it to the proper spec. dont bend too much, a little goes a long way.

second, if the carbs are already on the bike, you can take a clear piece of tube, hook it on to the drain and run it up along side the carb body. then when you open the drain, gas will go up into the tube to the same level it is in the carb. usually you measure +/- from the gasket/bowl.

refer to your service manual for actual measurements.

Thanks John. I don't have a caliper...that's why I can't do it myself. I can't afford to go buy one either, so I thought I'd ask.

  8. Since I fixed my recent problems with the bike, of course there's a new one. Replaced all the O-rings and gaskets on carbs and cleaned them out, but the left carb is peeing gas. Turns out there were two completely different float needles on the bike :nono:. Went out and now have two that are the same. Didn't pee gas before when it was different, but now it does.

Anyway, I don't have the proper tool to calibrate the measurements for the float. I'm guessing since it's a new/different kind of needle, it needs adjusted. Does anyone in the Columbus area think they can help me out? I live on the SE end near Groveport if someone would be kind enough to swing by, but I can bring the carb with me so I don't have to borrow a tool. Problem would be testing this POS.

ReconRat was kind enough to give me PDF shop and repair manuals, so I have the specs.

p.s. I checked the float and it's not retaining gas, so my best guess is the level needs set.

  9. Thanks. It was just an observation. If I joined a sports bike forum, I would expect such. I guess I just figured since it's called Ohio Riders and includes everyone, that it would be different. We can drop it now so it doesn't take over the thread.

  10. I won't be going because of my bike's newest problem, but I do have a rant. OR seems to be the only place where group rides (just from reading the forums) still get separated into those who like to ride fast and then everybody else. Aren't all inclusive group rides supposed to be an enjoyable ride for everyone to ride together? If you want to ride fast, then just organize a ride with people who like to ride fast. From reading other threads, it seems like every opportunity to get together is a dick measuring contest.

I'll be honest and admit that it makes me second guess going on rides just because I know I will be slower. I wouldn't want to damper anyone's style and ruin their ride because they have to go slower because of me. Last thing I would want to hear once the ride is over is about how so and so wanted to go fast and do twisties, but couldn't because of the cruisers or certain individuals.

I'm not sure if people are joking around or if they are serious when they discuss these things. All I know is that it doesn't seem like it would be much fun if not everyone rides at the same pace and enjoys themselves regardless. End of rant. Should this go into rants and raves?
