  1. So mask it like you would if you were waxing. Was isnt bad for matte plastic, it's just hard to get out, unless you own sophisticated things like pencil erasers, or use a plastic polish like back to black. Do what you want, I'll continue to use quick detailer between washes because it works. Your claims of damage are way overstated.
  2. I have. No damage. Maybe it depends on brand of spray, type of plastic etc.
  3. Do you feel bad doing it?
  4. This. A bottle of car wash doesnt cost much and if you get the good concentrated stuff, it only takes a few capfulls per wash. I quit using the old school turtle paste wax when I noticed that it was impossible to remove from the black plastic fill trims pieces. Google search found that liquid wax doesnt do that, and mothers back to black fixes it and makes your black plastic trim look brand new, and there is a lot of it on my bike.
  5. Yeah I cant afford that. Guess it's just scrub and rub for me.
  6. Thought about it, know any good ones?
  7. You open and clean all your electronic quick disconnects every wash?
  8. Looked into those but dont want to pull my pressure washer out every week or two. I've seen video of the hand pump one I ordered and it fits the bill.
  9. If my back ever heals I'd like to ride out with you somewhere to get fat(ter). One of my faves is the dalton dairiette. Just a good old fashioned drive-in.
  10. Do you have the hand pump kind or the one that hooks onto your pressure washer?
  11. Bout time... fuckin amateurs....
  12. No, not your cheese-encrusted yambag, talking about your bike. Never been a big bike washer in the past because most of my bikes weren't really worth the effort, but since I bought the gixxus I've been trying to bathe her regularly. Started out with just a hose, some armor all carwash soap, a sponge and some turtle wax. Lately I'm going down the rabbit hole tho, with duragloss 902 car wash, chenille wash mitts that look like muppet scrotum, Maguire's pure polymer liquid wax, quick detailer spray, mother's back to black for the plastic trim pieces and all kinds of microfiber towels and applicators. Recently bought a hand-pump foam sprayer for pre-soak to soften up the bugs. I like purple power degreaser for my wheels followed by a soapy microfiber towel and a hose off. So what is your go-to when its bath time for your bike? I understand many of you give her the once over maybe annually, and that's fine, I used to do the same, but I really love the way my bike looks and I especially love it after shes had a full wash and wax. Before you chime in with the 'rather be riding it than washing it' dreck, it only takes me maybe half an hour to do a full clean, dry and wax, so it's not like I'm wasting hours of potential riding time rubbing my bike with a diaper.
  13. You're almost always going to see better overall power out of a twin with a 2-1 because of the scavenging effect inherent in the firing order of most twins.
  14. Pretty much all bikes have an alternator, it just not easily visible. Exception is the 1st gen gsxr, the katana and the bandit. Big ole alternator right behind the cylinder bank.
  15. Oil change on the gsxs1000. 3600 miles already. Rotella with wix filter. Oil was a bit darker than i expected coming out, but there was minimal black residue on the drain plug magnet. Also cleaned and lubed chain. There is already rust on it, which angers me...must be from riding to work in the rain the other week. Have been cleaning and lubing chain every other tank of gas (300 miles or so), thought that would have been often enough. Really hosed it down with the KLR this time, maybe I'll go to lube every tank, clean and lube every other.
  16. I dont have it. Just told my guy what font and what size and sent him a pic. I have a huge stack of them and would gladly mail you a few.
  17. Go ahead and beat on it out of the box. I built a hopped up cb750 a few years ago and went straight to abusing the shit out of it and it runs just fine.
  18. Last year it was so cold that people brought propane heaters and we huddled together in the garage with the door closed and 20+ people showed up. Cant put this on the weather. I cant do this kind of thing spontaneously, it takes time and effort to get the weekend off and get the house and garage ready. I am glad you didnt have to see tonik. That's the silver lining in all this.
  19. Thanks to the few that did show, I do really appreciate you coming out, and thanks jim for the hooch, it's nearly gone. For all the money and work I put into this to have 8 fucking people show up just chaps my ass. My wife took off work today to clean the house while I spent half of last night and all morning today to set this up. While I really enjoyed having you guys over and everything, it's just not worth the fucking effort or cost.
