  1. I like my 2-3 daily beers....fuck 'em, you only live once.
  2. I've always loved that body style and owned two of the previous gen AWD's. GLWS.

  7. Well, I got it home safely and without any trouble. This is a very different truck from anything I've ever owned or driven so the 7.3 took some getting used too with the powerband but it does ride a lot smoother than my '09 Ram 2500 4x4. The truck has a few minor issues which will need to be dealt with - ignition lock won't freely release when the key is turned, the headlights are way out of alignment making night driving a challenge (heck, no one flashes me with the hi-beams on), the power door locks don't work, and the tailgate is finicky to get open. It also garners a lot of attention....not sure why..... Thanks for all of the advise, pro and con, about these trucks.
  8. I'm hoping it was a steal and runs as good as it looks. I guess I'll find out soon enough after driving nearly 14 hours to get here. If it isn't, I'll just turn around and head home.
  9. Here is the truck: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-Ford-F-250-Super-Duty-XLT-NO-RESERVE-4-Door-7-3L-/261575368399?_trkparms=gh1g%3DI261575368399.N7.S1.M73.R1.TR4&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=cOFMJYxxlOfLrTyHj2q8wvvmF%252BQ%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
  10. Where I'm looking at cheap land that might one day be bought up by a developer - Colorado, Nevada, NM, Arizona, etc., - none your concerns are valid.
  11. Just my luck, it turns out this one is an early 99 version (7/98 build date) and not very desirable due to the changes Ford made to them after 12/7/98. Anything with a build date after 3/99 is desirable according to every powerstroke website I've visited since commencing the deal. However, if I can get 100k+ miles out of it then it'll be a good investment and I'm not one to back out of a deal. About all I'll do is throw on a 4" exhaust and get a tuned PCM.
  12. I still think land is a wise investment and not necessarily here in Ohio. Go west, young man....
  13. I bought this bitch to tow a 5th wheel and found one that might fit the bill for under $5k. But, one spur of the moment purchase at a time here.
  14. I'm all about telling the tax man to fuck himself but not so much with the po-po.
  15. The Ohio BMV said you cannot drive a vehicle purchased out-of-state with tags from another vehicle registered here in Ohio (perhaps it is only for in-state purchase, dunno, didn't ask). The Arkansas DMV, however, in my case will issue a "drive-out tag" which is good for 14 days and I only need to provide the address for my final destination. YMMV
  16. I'll give the girls down at the Ellet BMV a call to confirm, they've always been very helpful. Thanks for the tip, too, much appreciated.
  17. I think I can use the tags off of my Ram which was sold two weeks ago according to the BMV site. "When a new car is purchased, is it permissible to put the old car tags on before the transfer of title is made? Yes, however, the new title must be presented to the deputy registrar within thirty days to complete the transfer of registration. [O.R.C. 4503.12 A (4)]." Am I interpreting this correctly? -------------------------------------------- As for the Duramax, my budget is limited at $10k for the moment so your rig is way outside of my budget.
  18. I've found a clean '99 7.3 XLT 4x4 with a manual transfer case on E-Bay but it's down in Arkansas. Any suggestions on how to get it back to Ohio without having it shipped? Most people probably don't want a vehicle driven long distance with their tags and on their insurance - I know I wouldn't.
  19. Thanks, Todd. I sent him a PM but it is a holiday weekend so I wasn't expecting a response right away. I'm also trying to be patient and not jump on something right away while looking at other trucks and cars/SUV's. A lot of vehicles I've wanted are well within my cash budget along with some RV's.
  20. Okay, thanks for the information, guys. I won't be looking any further for a 6.0 but will start looking for a 7.3 4x4 in my price range.
  21. The F-250's I've found have 200k + miles and priced between $9k-$12k so that is pretty much what I'm looking to spend with the max closer to $10k. I've found one back home in NC that fits the bill but getting down there to look at it will be challenging. I know I'm unlikely to find a decent Cummins in that price range without going with a 2nd gen and most of those have been modified (not sure I want mod's). Carwhore has a nice 2003 Cummins for just under $17k with 181k miles but I would have to borrow $$$ to buy it and I'm trying to pay cash only.
  22. Will do. BTW, what is the name of the dealer he works for down in C-Bus?
  23. I agree with you on some of those points but I'm not looking to spend that kind of coin on a truck and I just sold my '09 2500 Ram 4x4 Hemi which couldn't haul worth a shit so I'm not going back to a gasser in a truck anytime soon (not to mention the 12 mpg). Plus, whatever I get will be used to pull a fifth wheel and I'm not doing that with a gasser.
