  1. Welcome, from your neighbor in Montgomery. I saw a UFO once many years ago...moved and changed direction too quickly for a terrestrial aircraft but I couldn't see detail, just the lights. After about 30 seconds it was gone. I managed to avoid an alien anal probe.

i'm impressed by your bmw.  i'd never think those could go through the gap that well.  the tc was working overtime though lol.   that's about as fast I can go through there on my R6 but no traction control at all on those.

The Bimmer is super nice...it definitely can handle more than my skills can offer. That SD sounds badass tho

Lunch at Coal House BBQ. Then the fun part of 119, then 421, 80 and 550.

Hammer down on 550 I see a deer running up the hillside....so I shut it down hard figuring there are more....and signal everyone behind me. Crest the hill and there is a doe and her few days old fawn in the middle of the road. Full on ABS...the fawn freezes so I dove right. That moved the fawn left where it froze again and found itself staring at the front tire of an MT10 that stopped 2 feet short of it.

That fawn should now understand the value of ABS. I know Jamie and I do.

So we start to accelerate and are still going slow and around the corner comes a cop.

So we saved that fawns life, and it for sure saved us tickets. Win win.

Home, great run and very glad I did it.

Love the Wing even more than before. Flawless in the rain, I did not slip once. Not once. Fast as hell in the twisties and effortless to pilot. When I didn't have the fuel range challenged with me I was pulling 160 miles easily before I felt like stopping.

stop...you are making me want one even more. It's bad enough that it'll be another 2wks + before I can ride anything.

  5. Jim, if there is a need to go back and do it again, LMK and I'll go as well. A few points I would add further clarification to (not criticizing what you said, just thoughts in case there is a next time).

    • re: hearing important noises with ear plugs in - I would argue I am better able to hear horns and other critical noises with ear plugs in vs without since they normalize the volume of ambient sounds, allowing for the other noises to be heard more prominently. You kind of said this though.
    • Decibel ratings are not linear, but exponential. The difference between 85 and 110db is enormous. Way more than the difference of the same span between 50 to 75db. Most people don't understand this and I doubt any of the politicians do unless they have had reason to know that from past experience. I didn't know it until I was researching air compressors and reading up on the loud vs quiet ones.

I love the points you made about OSHA vs OH law and the BMV recommendations vs law.

  6. People get all hung up on the break in and then sell the bike with less than 10k miles on it. A less than ideal break in may cause longevity issues. If you don't plan on keeping the bike long enough for that to be a factor, there are plenty of other things you can worry about that will have a greater impact on the health of the bike.

Just some 2 cents on these from a geek foole.. .... - I have been using a LiFePO4 type of battery for 5 years in my VFR and I do like it.  Very good cranking power and zero maintenance.  (I just bought my 2nd one for these season, so 5 years on the first)  -- -

I think the mistake people tend to do with these is to treat them like a LeadAcid or AGM. --They are a different animal. (Would you feed dog food to a cat?)---  In a normal lifetime, the LiFePO4 never need charging unless you screw up and discharge it.   Also your bike charging system needs to be in top shape.  Come winter, my routine is to disconnect and bring it in the house, set on my desk, You do need to pull it inside for winter. ...For grins I measure voltage... 13.23v  for October.... 13.20v for March. Do not put them on a tender.

There are tenders specifically made for these types of batteries

  8. well, we can agree that we have a large number of idiots in this country and it's only getting worse. Smartphones are making the younger generation morons. A lady at work was telling me the other day that her 19yo daughter can't even get to the local grocery store without using her GPS.

Weren't we discussing the merits of holding released persons to a different standard than other citizens?

OK, but how do you go from that to punitive actions for a crime not being committed? If by punitive action you mean denying them legal access to firearms, that is as a result of their conviction of commission of a crime so the punitive action is a result of their previous actions, regardless of their future firearm usage intent.
