  1. she has the cash saved from babysitting to either replace the ipod (which seems to have recovered from it's bath) our buy her own iphone. . the issue is the $30/mo it adds to the bill. I'll give her credit. she looked at our current plan and compared it to the new ones and realized if she can convince the wife to upgrade to a smartphone, the difference for a second smartphone on the new plan is only $10 more than adding one to or current plan. she might be able to work her way in to an upgrade that way for only $10 a month. sneaky.
  2. Go figure on the timing. Daughter who has been crying for an iphone accidentally dropped her ipod touch in the toilet last night. Now she needs a new ipod, and gee, a new iphone is about the same price.... She is going to be one disappointed kid for the rest of the summer.....
  3. but her current stupid phone only adds $10/mo to our current plan.
  4. I feel your pain. At six, they thought it was special to be allowed to use my stuff and treated as such. Now as a teen, and almost teen, they just use it like it's a disposable piece of crap toy. My daughter thinks just because her two year contract is up on her first phone she should get upgraded to a smart phone and keeps asking for an iphone. That little pos phone she has now works just fine as far as I'm concerned.
  5. I watched it last night. Had to rewatch that last lap about three times. The wife laughed at me as I went from sitting back to sitting on the edge of the couch and ended up leaning through the corners with them in the last couple of turns. Great racing.
  6. You can play around between here and Madison Indiana and stay entertained. Or, deal with the boring hour slab to get to the other side of town and go from there. At that point, I would recommend an even smaller 250 and trailer it a bit further to the real decent stuff these guys typically ride. There's a cincy area dual sport email group you can join over on advrider that will give you the best options. I've had drs and other dual sports over the years and just couldn't justify owning them while living here. Now that I'm getting back in to riding after a few years off, I am leaning more towards doing what I always wanted to do and get a track bike. I just don't like street riding like I used to, but with the kids wanting to ride along, I'll keep something decent for two up riding.
  7. How difficult is it to swap the 650 back and forth from stock height to lowered? That could be a good first bike for the wife and first track bike for me.
  8. I actually like the discussion. I've been wearing a pair of Kushitani's for years, and for no reason other than age, feel like I should be shopping for a new pair of gloves. When it comes to stuff like safety gear, I'm a believer in you get what you pay for. I've never gone cheap buying gear, and have never regretted it. His post, then the rebuttals from others with real world experience with held gloves puts these up near the top of my list now.
  9. Wow. took two of my favorite bikes and made something completely unlikeable!
  10. I always thought it would be a cool hobby to get in to, but run out of free time and money before it can get a second look. Maybe when I retire.
  11. I've got an old console record player from the 60's in the basement. The underneath storage area is loaded with albums. I looked through it a few years ago, and the mix of albums is interesting to say the least.
  12. At the prices I see the 98-01 models selling for, it won't take much for me to justify putting another one back in the garage. I loved that bike.
  13. Ahhh. AC back on. Now I get to go help cut up a tree at the inlaws.
  14. The winds caught up to me just as I was getting on 74 from 75. Thankfully I was in my work van, but it was still an interesting drive. Got off at harrison ave, and there was a state trooper giving a harley rider a field sobriety test on the side of the road. I hope it wasn't failure to maintain a straight line that was his reasoning......
  15. Still no power for me. Had to find lunch in a wifi zone to get my fix.
  16. I just got home from sitting through a 2.5 hour little league baseball game. Yes, It was stupid hot.
  17. Out of the 15 or so bikes I've had, the VFR is the only one I will most likely buy again(ok, besides the ducati which I did buy twice). The best all around street bike I've ever ridden. It's the bike I rode to all those colored states in my map.
  18. I took paypal for an SV650 years ago. I made sure he gave it to me as a gift so as far as paypal was concerned, he was handing me the money just for being a swell guy, and there was no way he could reverse the payment as a bad sale. That being said, I no longer use paypal unless it is an absolute necessity to make a deal on something. Too much hassle, too much skimming off every transaction, and the BS they pull pushing their anti gun agenda was enough for me to cancel my account.
  19. The dealer is probably getting an additional couple hundred on the financing, and the bank is making the rest. And yes, they will charge $800 on a $2900 sale if they can get away with it. Taking a three year loan on a less than $3k bike is going to be high risk. They are going to make sure they are making it worth the risk. Don't take it as an insult. It's business, not personal.
  20. bike - 2990 loan application fee - 250 loan underwriting fee - 250 loan origination fee - 100 amount borrowed - 3590 payment - approx. 112/mo You didn't expect them to write the loan for free, did you?
  21. Any suggestions on which ones have instruction, and which ones just turn you loose on the track? Definitely want instructions on the first few outings.
  22. All right then. I'm start looking for info on a track day/school within the next month or so. It needs new tires now, might as well do one with fresh tires.
  23. Dammit I've been using the excuse I don't have a track worthy bike as an excuse for years. You mean I should just take the bags off the ulysses and do a track day?
  24. I've been old school, nothing but ear plugs for 20+ years of riding. Done that west coast in three days(or less) thing a few times myself, and will admit, I wished I had music at times. I don't think I'll go with ear buds as I see how bad my kids are about turning the volume up a little at a time until they can't hear what's going on around them, but either an old mans bike with a stereo, or in helmet speakers are in my future.
