For just a small additional price, a lip plate will be the envy of all her friends.

Now, where do you draw the line?

I say stop it before it even gets started.

  2. ...a courtesy flash doesn't seem to register with any of them.

I think a courtesy flash is too brief for others to notice a lot of times. I've began to lengthen my flash to a couple seconds so they can't miss it.

  3. The way I see it is that after the traffic light, the caddy got on the line or partially into the right lane while the motorcycle was still behind him. I don't see that the motorcycle was in his blind spot.

00:13.....Bike's rear tire is just leaving the crosswalk while the caddy appears to be applying brakes, and is on or approaching the line between the lanes, ahead of the motorcycle.

Caddy slows further and veers into path of motorcyclist. Motorcyclist, having not slowed or changed lane position as situation developed in front of him, in left lane, has had his safe stopping distance suddenly removed from him by a much slower vehicle and collides with said vehicle.

  5. You don't see poor people providing jobs for the rest of us. It's the rich who employ us. They provide the jobs that feed, house, and clothe our families. The benefits they provide to this country through jobs, services, manufacturing, and agriculture allows most of us to live better than if we tried self employment. Income tax is collected because of those jobs, and lots of it. It's those tax dollars that feed the have-nots, the do-nothings, and those unable to provide for themselves.

When the rich spend money on cars, planes, a 3rd home, or a dinner out, the economy is stimulated and gives us work, which means we have income. And the government collects taxes on all of it, more taxes than 100 of us pay in a year.

We need the rich to keep this country running and to keep us all employed. And we need them to stay in this country. However, many of them are leaving to other countries that welcome them with open arms. When they feel abused and vilified by the government, their love for this country will evaporate and they will take all their wealth with them, along with our opportunity for a better life.

I won't even get into how much they contribute to charities which benefit many of us when we have a need. And without them, many of these charities would not exist.

They have the know-how and the ability to succeed and we could all learn a lot from them. If you divided all our wealth up evenly, because they know how, in ten years it would be redistributed to it's present day levels. The poor would be poor again and the rich would be back on top.

Be glad we have wealth in this country and don't make the ones who have it the bad guys.

  6. Well, us single guys gotta do it or live in a pigsty.

I detect that there is a need for a Rent-A-Wife service. You make a selection from a menu, she comes and provides "domestic services" for as many days as you pay for, and most importantly, she leaves. No strings. No attachments. No problem.

If you want her to return, dial up the service and place your order. If you want a different selection, make your desires known. If you desire multiple providers, it can be arranged for a nominal service fee.

Do you think there would be a market for this? I'm sure there would be provided they cook well and provide actual cleaning and other wife-like functions with an attitude of good service.

  7. Place inexperienced riders just behind the leader. That ensures that they won’t have to chase after the group, and the more experienced

riders can watch them from the back.

That's not how the Dream Ride went last year. I did a lot of chasing for my first ever group ride. The ride leader said he was only doing 55 but I was doing 70 most of the way due to a ZX-14 dropping back in front of me, pushing me back, and then zooming ahead to catch up.

I hope this year is a little different.

  8. I read somewhere that that's why we call them squids. I have yet to run across a better explanation, perhaps you can enlighten me.

I popped Squid into Google and came across some things in the Sportbike Network Forum.

    squid (skwibreve.gifd)

    n. pl. squids or squid

A motorcycle rider who demonstrates a lack of respect for the general public and the failure to realize the possible negative impact that could result from their riding actions on public or non-public roads.

The squid is just unable to rationalize or conceptualize the possible negative outcomes resulting from their actions. This is regardless of whether or not they wear protective gear.

The squid does not realize that it is not that they are not wearing gear that makes them a squid - it is the fact that they think they are exempt from social morales and can pull a 10 o`clock wheelie on public roads or weave in and out of traffic at twice the traffic speed just because they can.

    I came across this,

    SQUID PURITY TEST

    http://www.bytebrothers.org/SquidTest.htm

It might be a spam thing of some sort, but you can read the questions just for fun.

    ...and this.

  9. OP: ur right, the world is not ending. However, my annual salary this year will be about 7k less due to furlough. Also, during those 22 weeks, I will be losing 20% of my paycheck. Wana give me 20% of yours since its no big deal?! I'll take small bills, 10's & 20's.

Maybe I missed it when you sent us 20 percent of your pay when my wife was cut from 5 days to 4, THREE years ago....still going on. No offense intended, and I hope it works out for you but we are all feeling the pain man.

^^^ And this is just one small example of how we are being divided against each other. It's never been like this, before this administration. We are all victims and it's not going to end as long as we allow it to continue.

To a lot of people 7k and 20% pay cut is the end of the world. How about just take the paychecks from all the politicians.

Along the same line, since WE are their employer, WE are the bosses, when they vote themselves a raise, we vote them a decrease in wages and demand it!

Our voices are not heard, therefore we are not speaking loud enough and with enough force. They are like unruly children and we have to get their attention to get them to behave properly. It's way past time for a change in how things are done in DC.

Sorry for your coming hardship. We are all victims in one way or another of our government using us as pawns.

The government is way over-bloated and has proven itself to be more expensive than the country can support without hardship for all. We need it fixed before they own everything we have.

  12. I'd like to see a one year term of 3 years for any member of Congress, and you'd have to sit out a 3 year period before you could run for any congressional seat again. One 4 year term for the POTUS.

edit: elections every year for congress, 145 new congressmen, 33 new senators each year.

Instead of one President, how about a group of three persons, all elected separately, and not as a team, to head the country? I've played with that idea in my head. I don't know if it's been tried in any other countries but they would have to work together to accomplish anything, and destructive powers like we've seen these past years would be minimalized.

  13. This is the most divided I have ever felt the county has been during my lifetime. The poeple and government seem more divided now then they were...

I think one of the key characteristics of a great leader is the ability to bring people together, and I think Obama has done just the opposite....his actions don't seem to indicate that he really knows how to gain any bipartisan support. Thoughts?

I agree, Tpoppa. The country is very fragmented politically right now, and neither side of the aisle appears to have anyone cabable of closing the divide. I agree that The President has failed to unite the nation, and as well that it isn't all on him either. Congress has very much stopped being a voice for their constituants, and never been more self-serving than now. There is a complete lack of leadership from either party, further exacerbating the flaws in the system.

    >> This is the most divided I have ever felt the county has been during my lifetime.

    >> ....his actions don't seem to indicate that he really knows how to gain any bipartisan support.

    >> The country is very fragmented politically right now, and neither side of the aisle appears to have anyone cabable of closing the divide.

It's called Divide and Conquer by gaining and maintaining power by breaking up larger concentrations of power into chunks that individually have less power than the one implementing the strategy. The concept refers to a strategy that breaks up existing power structures and prevents smaller power groups from linking up.

Dear Leader is deliberately trying to divide the country - you've got it right, TP.

The sequestration was hoped for by Dear Leader so that he'll have something else upon which to lay blame for continuing non-improvement in unemployment - blaming everything on Bush isn't working any longer - even the Dems/Libs aren't buying it; people are seeing him for what he is - a community organizer with no polictical skills whatsoever.

    >> Dear Leader is deliberately trying to divide the country...

You're darn right, he is. And he's getting lots of help from the news media by their biased reporting and slanting of reality.

    >> ...people are seeing him for what he is - a community organizer with no political skills whatsoever.

He will go down in history as the Great Divider. That will be his legacy.

...The country is going to shit and needs a real leader and real patriots in congress. We need to boot these self-serving ticks and leeches out of the capital and hope they aren't replaced with more of the same.

    >> Congress has very much stopped being a voice for their constituants, and never been more self-serving than now.

They see that they can grab benefits for themselves until closer to election time where they will once again pretend to align themselves with the will of the people and distance themselves from the undesirables for the purpose of preserving votes for themselves.

NEVER vote for an incumbent, period. Think about it, I wasted decades of my votes thinking either party or one political dickhead was worthy of my vote. Learn from my mistake.

NEVER vote for an incumbent for any reason....Always fire the incumbent.

...fire them all. And if there is a third party candidate available vote for them."

If we can vote/kill them off faster than they can make them we stand a chance.

I'm beginning to think this is the only way to drill into their heads that "we the people" put them in office to represent OUR interests and they have a limited time to do just that and then they are out, period.

They are the spokesmen for US. They represent US. When they fail to do that, heads need to roll. They should fear us. We should never fear the government because the government is supposed to be US. They seem to distance themselves from US until they want a vote and then it's business as usual. It's way past time for this to end.

Electoral college needs to go too

We need a way to keep the more populated coastal areas and high concentrations of "entitlement minded" groups in large cities from speaking for states closer to the center of the country, with totally different concerns.

Problem with voting for the third party candidate is that in most cases they have no chance to unseat the incumbent.

DC has become completely dysfunctional, though Ive always felt that the less that got done in Washington the better.

    Craig

They have less of a chance to get elected and the media makes it that way by suppressing their voice but giving biased coverage to ones they favor.

Given that the media is the eyes and ears for the bulk of America, not to mention, the "shapers" of public opinion, I think that as a people, we need to start demanding responsible and unbiased reporting with accuracy and fact, and with no hidden agenda coloring the news. And by boycotting their sponsors and protesting at their studios, pressure can be put on them to accurately present to us the events of the day.

Even if you are in touch with what the facts are, your neighbor, with equal voting power as you, may not be, and you want his information to be equally as accurate as your own so he can make an intelligent and informed decision come election day and not just accept the crap we see today on the TV.

    >> ...Ive always felt that the less that got done in Washington the better.

Those who govern least, govern best.

Had 'Paris Hilton for President because hot and stupid is better than just stupid' bumper stickers on all my vehicles.

Agreed. I just prefer Jenifer Aniston.

Okay, I'm done. Back to our regularly scheduled programming...

  14. I'll be there this year, seeing how ill management caused us to lose the account. 3 years down the drain, thank god for 401K savings and a nest egg.

And Karl, just to reinforce your determination to attend this year's ride, I'll refer you to a small comment from last year, to wit:

"next time damn it I Will be there and no boss is going to revoke my vacation time!" (emphasis added just for fun) :D

    .

  15. ...the chances of...ending up in a cornfield will be slightly lower.

^^^ The above refers to the endless opportunities to do some farming on the way to Hocking Hills for anyone who would like to add some farm implements to their motorcycle so they get some plowing done in time for planting. In reference to some post ride commentary from last year:

"I thought we were going right and we went left instead and I couldn't reposition in time so I split the difference in the pasture lol" (name withheld

    out of respect). :D

    .

  16. ...I missed last years due to a shitty work schedule.

It's worth it to do as the Aussies do if there is no other way to get off work, but you have so many days you are allowed off for illness. They call it "Chucking a sickie."

So, chuck a sickie and enjoy the day.
