  1. All the videos you see on youtube with people getting harassed during OC have to do with them being difficult with the LEO and refusing to show ID.

I've nothing to hide' date=' therefore they are more than welcome to run my ID.[/quote']

Most of those videos on youtube are difficult to make a point. The law is contradictory to what most cops are told. They specifically try to get the cops to screw up by getting on their nerves and repeating the same questions over and over again. Im all about right to bare arms, and open carry rights, but I dont want to make it difficult for the cops either. The biggest thing I keep in mind is I approach the situation the same way I do as any other. If the cop is irate and upset right off the bat, you getting there to is gonna make it worse. If your calm and collective and do as your told and inform the cop right off the bat, you basically set the tone for the entire stop. Respect is a two way street, most cops will see it that way to. However there is always those few who will push the envelope and are on a power trip.

  2. Talking to him over the phone he said its just on the other side of the bridge running along the river. If its the place I think it is then its just as he says. He also stated that the actual range is about a half a mile off the road back in the woods.

The link below shows the address north east of town

This link shows right next to the river just west of town.

  3. One thing you should always consider, keeping a voice recorder app on your phone, or keep a voice recorder on you at all times. If your pulled over or stopped while walking it takes about a second to start the app or the recorder. I also always keep a copy of the AG's CHL handbook in PDF format on my phone. The biggest thing is to always cover your ass.

As far as open carry or concealed. I open carry about 90% of the time, but im always cautious as to where I am at if there could be a lot of people freaked out by it then I can always cover it up. Plus it helps when you either get on the bike or in a car. Once on a motor vehicle its considered concealed. At that point without a CHL your breaking the law, so its always best to once again, cover your ass.

  4. I love my Contour Roam. It does great. I planned to get a Roam+2 this year as well as it takes what made the Roam so good gave it what the Hero 3 has and put it in a package like the Roam. But its got the added ability of having GPS coordinates encoded into the video.

  5. For those who are curious. I spoke with Dave the owner of Dawg Valley today. He sounds like a really nice guy. Hes a CHL instructor, NRA certified pistol and rifle. Hes got lots of plans for the property up to a 800 yard rifle range, however he still has to clear the land for it. His place isnt just a gun club. Hes got camping, swimming, tubing, fishing even looking at an archery range. Club memberships are $100 a year but you get access to the full facility and all the activities. He said last year he had 5 bands out and all the memebers get free access. Hes got 5 members that are active in helping out around the place, but said he wouldnt turn down the help from others. Hes just waiting for the weather to break so he can get out there and get some of the work done.

Im going to head down there after this snow storm goes through and has melted away to check the place out. Ill post back here once i am able to form a real impression

  6. You must have snagged the ones that MidwayUSA had available!:p

I was contemplating a purchase of 2 and they went "out of stock" before I had an opportunity to buy! I did get a couple more factory 5rd mags and a Blackhawk leather holster today though.

No actually I went to old english outfitters and bought them off the shelf. For my gun accessories i hate waiting

  7. Im considering not modding this one at all. Ive managed to find another Mosin that is already modded really horribly done that I can pick up for 100. Ill probably just get it and mod it since its already fucked.

  8. only weekday afternoons I get are Mondays. Im trying to get into a range up here in Shelby County that has a 250 yrd range for rifles. To get to 600-700 yards like I would love to I would probably have to go down to Thunder Valley.

  9. I have a Roam that I used all last summer, it worked great, however the mic sucked for riding, so I did a mic mod where I installed a mic jack on the front and used an old microphone from my old pair of Tritton gaming headsets and it worked great.

There are also the XTC Midland cameras that are all across the price spectrum, the highest end one being less then a Roam. Alot of the motovloggers out there swear by the Drift Innovations Ghost and Drift HD. Those are as good as Go pro Hero2 and the Roam plus the new Drift HD has all wireless capabilities like the Hero 3 without the issues. Bout the same price as well.

  10. went out and bought 2 boxes of 9mm for my XD9. Wife needs ammo for her conceal carry class in april. also picked up 2 extended magazines for my XDs, and bagged of couple of boxes of Hornaday Zombie Max for the XD9 as well.

  11. I ride the far left lane and when someone wants to pass I will get over when its convenient for me, (meaning when I dont have to slow down just to let you pass). Ive usually got no issues with people like that unless they are tailgating me. And i can tell how far away they are in my backup monitor. If they are within 12 feet they get the finger when they go by. If they get within 5 feet which several have, they get a phone call to the nearest state trooper office

  12. Well I have access to someone whos willing to hand load for me at a cost. I dont have the room to hand load here at my apt. My inlaws might let me out at the barn.

as smccrory mentioned, I really need to shoot it to see what kind of accuracy I can get out of the barrel the way it is and go from there. But I need to find someone who is willing to let me use their range and not make me join to shoot.

  13. Ok so a little over a month ago I purchased a 1935 Mosin Nagant 91/30 Tula hex receiver with a sealed spam can of milsurp Russian ammo manufactured in 71, and 75 rounds of Silver Bear. Cost me a total of $200. Ive since went through several websites including 7.62x54r.net and managed to narrow it down. It was selected for above average accuracy that is due to the C and crylic R on the receiver. So at some point it was selected for sniper service, however I think given that the Russians needed weapons for the field this one was never placed into sniper service and it was put into the field anyways. The other reason why is given the age of the rifle it would have had a scout type center mounted scope where they would have bored out 3 screw holes on each side of the receiver and mounted the scope there. These bore holes are not present. The biggest down side to it is that its had the barrel counter bored post war. Its in rather great shape other then that. No cracks in the stock. No rust or pitting in the barrel. Clean rifling through out the barrel. I've since gone through it and cleaned all the cosmoline out of the bore and as much as I could get out of the stock itself.

I'm considering keeping it as is, but im also flirting with the idea of just turning it into a modern sporter. I know with some work, good stock, scope, glass bedding, floating the barrel, turned down bolt/bolt handle mod, removal of front and rear sights, cutting the barrel down from 28 3/4 to around 24inches, recrowning the barrel, then rebluing the barrel. It can be turned into a sub 1 MOA rifle. However the cost, the gun itself is 125-150, all the additional work will take an easy month assuming everything comes in on time. Some people tell me to just leave it the way it is (purists), others tell me to do what I want since there are so many readily available. Was curious what others thought. Below are pictures of my Mosin.

  14. I wouldnt even consider going from a Glock to a Smith and Wesson. My gunsmith here has told me that hes had more service issues over the past 5 years with S&W then hes had with Taurus. If you can get the Glock 19, go for it if your looking for a 9mm. There are several facebook groups here in Ohio who are constantly dealing in firearms trades, and Glocks are being sought after.
