  1. :welcomeor:

Haspen Acres in Laurel IN is similar from what I've heard. Used to be a kickass place years ago, but drunken 4bys and side by sides have all buttrutted it out:nono:

a ton of rumors about death at haspin every weekend, but I never see it.

dont get me wrong, haspin kinda sucks... but its not necessarily due to the idiots. while there are drunken indiana hill billys there, the main issue I have is the poor condition of the trails and the dirt composition.

I have come to appreciate the high level of technicality at haspin (almost need a trials bike), it requires you to exercise some bizarre skills. I prefer to go fast though.

if you could make the trip to daniel boone sometime, it is absolutely amazing. lightning fast well maintained/marked trails on wonderful sandstone. its about 2-3 hours south of cincy, so probably 7 away from OP. there are no vehicle requirements (no registration, no sticker) only require you to check in at a ranger station.

I usually stop at the s-tree trail head, but ive also tried the white sulpher trails.

  2. LOL

My SV has close to 140,000 miles on her, and has covered most of the country.

I enjoy travelling on two wheels.

I enjoy riding smartly on twisty roads.

    I enjoy motorcycles.

    I don't enjoy assholes though.

Your point is well taken, but try not to let other's opinions sway or change your behavior. Life's too short.

I realize that Ohio Riders is populated with lots of younger folks...lots of sport bikes (with little or no mods done for comfort)...and lotf of partiers who feel inclined to advertize their propensity to get fucked up.

I'm just an older guy that like throwing my bike into turns. Lots of turns. I like to party too, but not at the expense of affecting the next day's ride.

This will be fun meeting you guys.

    140k! jesus! thats awesome!

I have to trailer there. I bring my bike on a fresh set of rubber, and usually leave on the cords. riding home isnt an option.

my next bike will be more sport tour oriented or possibly adventure, so riding there will be a definite in the future for me.

  3. In my 2 stroke RM125 I like running leaded gas with a higher octane rating. A lot of people claim that it helps with the longevity of the rings and valves, helps with carbon deposit ect. In my 4 strokes though I run 93 or sometimes will put 100 unleaded if I can get it at a good price. Anyone run leaded in their 4 strokes and do you think it helps or hurts a 4 stroke engine? I know with the newer fuel injected bikes it's not good to run it in all the time. Just want to hear some opinions. Thanks.

leaded gas and oxygen sensors dont mix. as far as fuel injection is concerned: leaded is fine as long as theres no o2 sensors present.

the only benefit to a leaded fuel would be the higher octane rating (unless that particular fuel is oxygenated and has other additives, but thats apples to oranges).

the lead deposits on valves and rings.is a myth. lead was a cheap octane boost that was patented by the dupont company. when the patent ran out and the government cracked down, alternatives were found.

that being said, even if there was a lead deposit benefit on valves, wouldnt help your 2stroke much... theyre valveless. youre benefit is higher octane, which isnt neccessarily a performance enhancer, but gives you the ability to build a hotter engine (ie: more compression)

I run 93 + klotz super techniplate in my 2t's and strait 93 in my 4t's

with a 2 stroke, its best to worry about the type of oil an a the mixture. I run mine oil rich at 32:1. its less power but more longevity. you honestly probably couldnt feel the power difference and as long as youre jetted properly, you wont foul plugs.

  4. the episode really lost me with the ghost of lori. im not a lori hater or anything, but really? complicating the already huge amount of conflict at this point wasnt really neccessary. its like theyre trying to make things too complex. its also a little unreal to me.

  5. We need you to sign a waiver

i'll sign yours if you sign mine :p

The gap is so much more fun on a scooter than a bike. I was passing cruisers going down hill with the 150 and passing sport bikes going down hill on the 250. No shifting just gas and brakes. The cruiser guys think it's funnier to get passed than the sport bike guys. The cruiser guys sit behind you and laugh when you go back up hill, some of the sport bike guys have to pass you back. I could ride the gap with just the scooter and not think I wasted my time going down there.

scooters down the dragon has been a dream of mine for a while. I contemplated renting one last time I was there.

  6. take some advil and rock on.

healthcare is so f***ed. every hypochondriac that makes an insurance claim for the sniffles, not to mention every fatass that requires life support to take a s*** drove premiums through the roof and made coverage terrible.

the working class is so screwed.

in the mean time: grab some advil and tough that thing out. its what I do with my slipped disc.

  7. it was warm in cincy a couple weeks ago, I got overly excited to ride my new bmw to bike night. took it out of winter storage mode and headed off. forgot to lock the passenger seat down. I made it pretty good ways down the highway before I felt the seat tap me on the back. I did a swift, panic like manuver to try and secure the seat, but too late. I watched it pinball off a few cars. that was an expensive mistake. apparently, bmw is very proud of their products.

The mall in Boone, NC...... Holy Crap!

is that the 2 story wendy's in that pic? boone is pretty far off the east/south of ashville riding area that everyone sticks to. its close to virginia boarder on 77. about 100 miles east of everything.

    boone always gets nasty weather.

  9. I can't disagree that there are some awesome roads in GA. But don't kid yourself if you think that yer gonna get over like a fat rat in cheese factory down there. Beware the Super Speeder Law! An EXTRA $200 tacked onto the original fine. So we're talkin' maybe $400-450 for havin' fun in GA!!!

Y'all be be safe now, ya heah? ;)

totally agree. theyre still down there, and they use a few tricks. I was told about one while stopped at the gas station at the intersection of 60 and 180 where the have a slow unmarked truck in front of you and the cop is setup within sight distance to see if you pass on the double yellow. mean bastards!

i'll take that over the harley traffic and tennessee cops on the dragon. although last year I passed one around double the posted speed and he didnt come after me... got lucky.

  10. I think op has himself sold on a HD.

my only suggestion to op is:

save money for atleast a dyna. the sporty's are small and uncomfortable for any highway running or anything over an hour. best way to describe a sporty is: bar hopper. stay away from any of the real basic ones, basically the ones that "look cool". they'll be uncpmfortable on any sort of highway srretch. riding 12" apes with forward controls sucks above 50mph, let alone for multiple hours.

id also suggest riding for yourself, and not for the ladies. the type of women you'll pickup because "youre a hot biker" are one time use anyways.
