  1. Anybody else contacted you about that offer yet? I might be very interested.

not yet. let me know and we can hash out details.

i found a campsite that is $7/night per person (minimum of $14/night if you're solo for anyone else reading) and $4/night for electricity with on sight hot showers included.

figure gas for truck, gas for bike, campsite cost, food/beverage costs would be somewhere around 100 a person for 2 people for 3 night stay.

    thats not too shabby.

  2. Gatlinburg and Cherokee don't interest me in the slightest. That's the wrong direction' date=' if you're looking to have a good time. Everyone knows Georgia is where shit's happening.[/quote']

    troof.

im thinking of chasing the dragon sometime late feb/early march.

im going to try to go 4 or 5 times this season. its a bonus that my gf's family is from taccoa ga, near clayton ga (war woman for those that ride hard). family function has now become an excuse to ride!

hopefully I can make your guys trip. sounds like a fun group. i'll probably camp somewhere for the free'ness

  3. Ummm, just a bit of an overstatement, eh? I agree that MX boots are long on protection and short on walking comfort, but last time I rode off-road in my MX boots, I'm pretty sure I was able to shift just fine. The larger, stiffer and heavier toe box would make for a cramped fit on a street bike, but still doable.

whenever I ride my dirtbike, I find myself standing mostly. I shift and brake more with my hip than my ankle. when I ride my sportbike, I find myself crouched or have the seat weighted mostly, and I shift with my ankle. I dont really know if I could fit on my street bikes with an mx boot, but than again im pretty tall. I also would imagine it tough to ride on the ball of the foot while wearing mx boots on a sportbike.

besides being cumbersome, mx boots may be possible to get on a sportbike with... i'll give you that. I believe it would be wasteful to buy mx boots with the sole intention of sportbike riding.

  4. Depends on what buell, there is a guy that shows up and runs with the lightweight twin sv group.

part of owning a buell is you get every other buell owners phone number (theres only like 5)... we have to notify eachother of our whereabouts so as we're the only buell there. its a clause in the fine prints that you sign at the dealer.

  5. I'm not a fan of buying used crossbreeds. Taking the owners word for what is what and when it comes to parts replacement what the hell do you order if he lied or didn't know what he had?

Seems like a perfect setup to fail unless the buyer is a bike guru and just knows it all

    very much this.

as for my opinions, I think crotch-choppers are badass. ive had my chance at riding a couple. theyre loud, dirty, raw, and honestly kinda stupid... id love to own one.

  6. I kinda skimmed over the thread a bit...

im hoping to run a couple rounds. MS seems nice because of local-ness and seems a bit more user friendly than WERA.

I have a kind of oddball bike to run, so im not really sure what class yet, and it would depend on who/what shows up on that day. it'll be pretty easy to spot, i'll be probably the only buell guy, with full on ghetto setup running street tires. yep, budget as hell.

  7. I like to mix it up myself.

Slo&go? Hmmmm, look up Harley Davidson Monkey on YouTube when you have a few spare moments.

this dude shreds a sporty. its really fun to follow.

then again, he pretty much shreds on anything with two wheels and a motor... although all I seem to witness him ride are HD's and zook's...

  8. Bridal Vail Falls. You should take 28 all the way to SC/GA' date=' too. You missed the good parts. :)[/quote']

I know those parts, if I was on my computer I could post a pick of.the "welcome to SC" sign thats on 28.

my favorite roads down that way are out near helen, GA. theres a road called 60, and one called 180. theres also the lower section of 129. over in clayton ga, closer to nc/ga boarder in the tristate area is war woman.

whenever I plan to hit the smokies, I plan on spending my time in GA. get away from the tourists and ride the better roads.

  9. Banks usually freeze credit cards when they notice unusual activity on them....like charges from a foreign country. You can notify your bank ahead of time that you will be out of.country to prevent this.

    ^^this

i went to mexico this summer, i called CC's ahead of time to let them know i would be there and for how long. that way they wouldn't freeze my accounts.

  10. as far as a review of the actual boot...

tech3's are excellent beginner/low end MX boot. great comfort and fit (although they do run a bit narrow if you have a wide foot). they wear great, good protection.

as stated above, they're MX boots. they will not work at all on a sport bike, you will not be able to shift. you may not even be able to sit on the bike with your feet on the rearsets. MX boots do NOT (or atleast they try not to) allow ankle movement.

  11. Actually, the race replicas don't even sell very well any more. Kawasaki sells as many Ninja 250s as it does ZX-6Rs and ZX-10Rs combined.

Maybe that's why Honda is suddenly coming out with affordable and user-friendly bikes such as the CBR250 and its new line of 500s.

    agree 100%

i would even venture to say... give it a few years and we'll see a growth in mid class since there seems to be a gap from beginner bike to supersport (as far as standard/sport bikes are concerned)

I really liked my Kawi Z750S around town, kinda buzzy though. IMO for around town/backroad riding I think the V-Twin and P-Twin 650's are about perfect. SV650, Ninja 650, Versys, Wee Strom, etc. Those new CBR 500's look like they would be a fun bike as well.

v-twin is the answer to the OP in my opinion. nothing rides like a vtwin, and i greatly prefer one to anything inline for street use. the only drawback i have to a vtwin is my fear of short engine life (from both heat concerns, which isn't a relevent arguement on a liquid cooled engine, and high performance twins are further stretched out than more piston counterparts.) although, i do have a harley powered buell and it is just below 30k miles... which is contradictary to my point... but i still have a fear. i've heard of 200k inline 4's that have never been rebuilt, but never heard of a 200k vtwin that has never been rebuilt

the 650R really nails riding position for most of us. I remember reading about it when it was new, and the Kawasaki website talking about how they designed the bike around the rider. Having sat on them at MC shows, I actually believe them.

Great all-around bike that is approachable for novices, but big enough that you could keep it forever too.

The suspension is budget, but not bad. Much nicer than you would have gotten on a "beginner" bike 10 years ago. I would personally like a big more power, but 62ish is nothing to be ashamed of. If they bored out the 650 and made a ninja 800R with 80 horsepower and a nice fat torque curve, I'd be all over that...

i have never really felt anything toward the 650r. i believe the sv650 is a much better bike even though its design is so old. i wish they'd re-vamp the sv650. give it decent brakes and suspension. 75-80hp broad torque curve small bore vtwin thats light and flickable with a comfortable riding position? sounds like competition for the high brow manufacturers (duc, trumpet, aprilia)although, they would have to tac onto the pricetag doing those sort of renovations.

  12. I thought id wonder over here and see what its like.

ive been on AFJ for a few years now, I know theres sometimes a disagreement between the two forums, I choose to not get involved in it. im just looking for like minded people to ride with.

I ride a lot. I ride controlled but like to carry a swift pace, but ofcourse always AGATT. I have a 05 buell xb12r firebolt, a 12 bmw s1000rr, and a 01 honda cr250r. you can usually find me around falmouth kentucky on nice days, and whenever I get a chance, I love to hit the smokies.

hopefully I get to meet some new friends here.
