I can see your point of view, but money can be made on stick homes you just can't stay until they need work. I bought a Maronda (yeah I know I've just been dogging them) kept it for two years and sold it. I was in over my head, but sold it for 131k and had paid 112k. Problem is these houses are throw away houses, and are only good for 10-12 years. So while I don't totally agree with you, all of these houses are no where near the quality of a custom built home.

I never worked or was around really any Centex homes. I only really wired from start to finish a handfull of track homes. I had co-workers and friends that did alot of track homes. You could tell the quality of some of the homes because liek Maronda would only care if you got it past inspection, otherwise they could care less. At least some of the others would be involved, like Homewood and M/I.

I've worked as an Electrican on some of these homes about 5-6 years ago. I can tell you that Marondas are pretty piss poor, especially anything they called a condo. M/I and Dominion are good houses, but like a lot of things nowadays if the subdivision had a lazy foreman the houses weren't as great. Homewoods used to really suck, but some of those I wired 5-6 years ago really were decent houses. I only wired a handfull of track homes because I did mostly customs when I was doing electrical, but I hope this helps some.

This is what I've been thinking about most of this year. It may seem like something next to impossible, but running 10s at the drag strip on a road course suspension would be fun. I'd also make big power to do it.

Why don't you use that for a template and make one out of bigger tubing using like one of those Spectre universal kits? You could make that work.

I may just be in a mood, but I've been thinking about what exact direction I wanted to go with the car for some time. I like drag racing, but that's also not all thats out there to do. I think I had more fun taking Tina's car down the track because it took some more skill. My car really isn't all that much fun on the street where it spends most of its time, and I don't want a dedicated track car. So as I stated earlier I haven't made up my mind, but I'm leaning towards some changes.

I haven't made up my mind as to what will go into the car, but right now I'm thinking a built T56. The stock tranny burnt up the 2-4 band about 2 years ago and I cheaped out because I didn't have much for mods with no real plans of doing much for a while. Then I got carried away and lost second gear for whatever reason (I never tore it apart to find out), and got an unbeleivable deal on the current trans. It was supposedly a "built" Callahan 4L65e. I couldn't complain about the deal I got, so I tore it apart and everything looked good in it, rebuilt the pump, and verified that while it had some upgraded clutches and servos it didn't have all the bullshit it was supposed to. Now it has lost 4th gear, and shutters. I'm tired of not banging my own gears, tuning this mess, dealing with a high stall convertor on the street, so fuck it I'm done. I love to drive the car when I'm at the dragstrip or out playing, but I don't care for hardshifts or the convertor when all I want to do is cruise. So to answer your question, yes I have pretty much cheaped out but I'm tired of having an automatic performance car. Never seen it functioning in a car, but Anthony did have one for a while and is in a car functioning now. With all the bolt-in options why would I want to go through the hassle for a damn 8.8? My 10-bolt got rebuilt last spring with 3.73s and a locker, and took a lot of abuse in the past year. The pinion worked its self loose so a couple months ago I replaced the bearings on the pinion and installed a solid spacer kit. I put it together too tight and I think it's eating the bearing. I'm done dealing with this fucking rear end too. Yes I realize that every problem I'm having with the car is my fault no matter how you want to look at it, but I'm done messing around and I'm looking at bigger better things. I've had fun drag racing, but I think I'd rather have a fun all around type car then just going fast in a straight line.

Resurecting this thread just to bitch. My Camaro is down again, god damn trans lost 4th gear and is shuttering. My pinion is also loose again. I hate my car so much right now it isn't funny. Besides that the battery is dead in my truck. God fucking hates me, and I'm feeling rather emo. I think I'm going to start putting together a 6 speed swap as soon as I get my ass back to work.

Had 4 taken out a couple years ago, swelled up bad and couldn't eat for a week then got sick. Talk about a rough month for me.

There is a Social Security office in Whitehall, my wife went there to change her name. I beleive its a fairly straight forward process, just take ID and birth certificate.

I don't have any experience on the newer BMWs, I just always think of the loosers who would bring in their old falling apart BMWs and wanted me to try and make their POS run good again.
