  1. Wish I could make it tomorrow, have Sunday plans with the family. Hope the Epic ride is Epic!
  2. I'm in Derek, thanks for organizing the meet up and the Epic Ride
  3. I had a 05 FZ1 (Blue) and loved it until the deer hit my bike. You can pick them up at low prices, great bike.
  4. I may have an extra room at the Marriot downtown Indy (350 West Maryland St.) for Friday 8/7, Saturday 8/8 and Sunday 8/9 nights. The hotel has underground parking. Please let me know if anyone is interested before Monday 7/27 because I plan to cancel the reservation.
  5. I vote for Saturday August 29, that is the weekend before Labor Day.
  6. Thanks for the ride report, looks like a great trip!
  7. I'm in, ordered the t-shirt today I'll be in the medium group. Is there a meet up point for NEO?
  8. I own a 2006 FZ1 and a 2008 FZ1. I have also owned a 2005 FZ1 (Gen. 1) until I hit a deer. The bikes are a great cross between a sport bike and a standard bike allowing you to ride all day without stopping much, every 1-1/2 to 2 hours. The seat is the only issue with the FZ1, so I bought the aftermarket Sargent seat..... problem solved. The power the FZ1 generates is more than enough for most sane people. I've done 170 MPH with power left, no reason for more IMHO. I have rode over 460 miles in SE Ohio in a day and had no problems with comfort. I am waiting to see if Yamaha redesigns the FZ1 for 2015. Good luck!
  9. FYI, going for a ride someplace tomorrow and was using Geneva as destination. I'll stop by Geneva for an hour or so to listen to some music and get something to drink. Not planning to spend the weekend in Geneva and don't plan to be kidnapped and converted into the Pirate cult! LOL!!!
  10. Is anyone riding to Geneva on the lake's "Thunder On The Strip" this weekend? I was planning to ride from the Cleveland area on Saturday (9/7) leaving at noon taking the back roads along the lake. Let me know if you are interested.
  11. I went through physical therapy and the therapist gave me shoulder exercises and I did them all. They got me back in shape, I lift four days a week and do high reps, 12-15 to stay in shape. No real long term side effects other than a click in the shoulder now and then when I am lifting weights. In (6) weeks you will recover, four months you will not know it happened. This is from a guy who recovered at the age of 50 years old when the accident happened. Best of luck!
  12. Good Luck on the recovery. In April 2008 I hit a deer on my bike at night and broke my shoulder blade and collar bone. Four weeks later I bought a new FZ1 and two weeks after that I was riding. Six weeks total recovery time for a 50 year old, at the time. Hope you have a speedy recovery and are back in the saddle soon.

    Ohio Bike Week

I have gone to OBW for a number of years and it is good to hear some bands, see stunt riding shows and people watch. The second weekend is better because they close downtown Sandusky streets except for bikes and have a stages set up for bands. I would recommend stopping at the HD Dealer for a while and then head to the downtown area. It's a carnival atmosphere. Typical BN crowd of 70% cruisers, no one bothers anyone, I've taken my wife a couple of times.
