  1. Yet another dam reason to go for a ride.
  2. Although more likely to be lurking along Route 8, the Boston Strangler Township Police are only a step behind Brecksville and Peninsula in enforcement enthusiasm - at least according to a friend that would commute on 8.
  3. Need to pay better attention... could have been on this ride, particularly after missing out on the Epic one with the reschedule. Ah well, some other day - or whenever "next time" happens.
  4. Derek: Work will have me in the vicinity of Turkeyfoot Rd. in Coventry Twp. Friday mid/late afternoon. Not sure if I'll be travelling via two wheels or four, but picking up a T-shirt is certainly feasible. I'll PM my cell #.
  5. I have a V7 Stone that I bought last June, used primarily for commuting and running around town (which it does wonderfully). Assuming no unexpected craziness happens between now and the 17th, I'll be finding out how it does on an all-day EPIC ride. I have only a few of pictures of it, this one is from last September, taken at Country Maid in Richfield... C-bus, I was just in ClevelandMoto's Lakewood store yesterday (5/8) and they have two Californias on the floor (one black and one white) and they are damn pretty in person. That said, I suppose geography doesn't exactly make Lakewood a more convenient option for you.
  6. Derek: Happy to chip in a few more dollars for the difference. Would you prefer Paypal between now and the 17th, or some other method?
  7. One size "L" shirt for me. Payment incoming... Edit: Also, thanks for taking on this particular organizational hassle.
  8. Welcome. For a couple of Ohio "destinations" (using a very broad definition of that word) and an excuse to get out and rack up a few hundred miles - I'd suggest seeing the Big Muskie bucket on State Route 78 (SW Ohio), getting a Hot Dog from Tony Packo's on Front Street in Toledo, visiting the West Side Market in Cleveland, and the Aviation Heritage sites around Dayton.
  9. With the weather looking good, I think I might try to make it down from Cleveland... just for the meet-up side of things as the tires are still in good shape. Plus, meeting people is never a bad thing.
  10. Some damn fine work done there, I really like how the wing logo turned out. A bit difficult to tell from the photo, but is it gloss black on matte black, or some other combination? Also, when would be the next opportunity to admire it in person?
  11. Really need to get my May weekends figured out.... I think there might be a schedule conflict, but don't remember at the moment... Probably yes, and at the slower/relaxed end of the spectrum.
  12. Disappointed in myself for forgetting about Tanks... they have some tasty burgers, and other sandwiches, and a website: tanksbarandgrill.com
  13. Your mystery units would reduce down to pound feet per second. So with 5280 feet per mile and 3600 seconds per hour, the back-of-napkin equation will calculate out to... (800 lbs * 150 * 5280 ft) / 3600 sec = 176,000 lb.ft./s
  14. During my 5 years at UD (10 years ago now), I seem to recall a nice steak at Geez Grill & Pub at 5841 Far Hills Ave. It would be a "local" place as opposed to a chain. It's hidden off the west side of the street behind a coffee shop and a strip mall. also, thanks google for helping me "remember" the address.
  15. This is already implemented, not statewide, but regionally, with 23 "Cooperatives" or "Computer Associations" around the state. See: http://www.infohio.org/web2/web2.html Could things be more centralized or consolidated further? Possibly, but separating School funding from property taxes is a good step one.
  16. Definitely not too cold yet - rode to work every day this week except Monday. It's about a 1/2 hour ride to work, but somehow riding home takes closer to 2 hours... go figure.
  17. Thanks everyone for the Welcomes. I've had a good first few months with this bike, using it primarily for commuting to work. It's handled that task wonderfully (and even better for the commute home).
  18. But for one ham-fisted moment with 8 miles on the odometer, it's treated me well and I'm happy with my purchase. It has enough oomph to get out of its own way, a wonderful sound with the stock exhaust, and it's done everything I've asked of it. When I bought it, the other machine I was considering was a Bonneville.
  19. Two convenient pictures I have at the moment (from the 2013 Edition of the Motorcycle Picture Game)...
  20. Initially I had narrowed my decision down to one of Triumph's pseudo-retro bikes as I liked that late sixties/early seventies appearance. However, the closest dealer I knew about was about 45 minutes away (Ohio Cycle near I-217 and Alexander) which was a bit far for my liking. I found Moto Guzzi after Googling for similar bikes in that niche. Based on pictures of the V7, I started to see another VERY interesting possibility. I found that there was an MG dealership in Lakewood just 5 miles drive from my house, went there in mid-May, and sat on one. From the pictures on the internet, I was concerned about the kneecap-to-cylinder proximity. Once I was on it, that worry went away as there was a comfortable distance for my knees. I was pretty much sold on getting one that afternoon, but waited a week to make sure I really wanted to spend that money. The next weekend I handed over the deposit, and the weekend after that I rode it home - though that ride was a bit more than the 5 miles a car would take to travel from Home to the Dealer .
  21. Figured I should post something in here before I make too many more posts elsewhere around here (like the picture game thread)... Purchased my first Motorcycle this past June - though I've had my endorsement since 2007 and "borrowed" a bike from friends occasionally. The trigger pulling moment on the purchase was when I finally had both the $$ and garage space for one. I wound up with a Moto Guzzi V7 Stone, and have had about 1100 miles of enjoyment since the purchase - even with 8 weeks of broken elbow and physical therapy starting shortly after getting the bike home. PS: Thanks to P.O.C. in Lakewood for being good people and a pleasant dealership experience.
  22. Finally remembered to look for the month-old target while riding. Look closely at that "chicken". There's something green and plant-like growing out of it. Moving along, next will be a Waterfall (and bigger is definitely better).
