  1. I'm hoping to make round 2 or 3, I'd like to rent a bike and try this out. Sad that it's a such a long drive from CLE.
  2. Now I'm a little more confused...so the groups are a moving target based on who's there each trackday? Am I going to be bouncing back and forth between I and A? I'm the "on the cusp" guy you keep talking about with respect to laptimes - running mid-to-high 1:40s on the SV. I can only speak to my experience over the last couple years. It seems I'm passing 90% of people in "I", but getting passed by 50%+ of the guys in "A". My riding has improved by being on track with guys in "A" as I learn from their lines and braking points. Subjectively, I feel much safer in "A" as well. Just stating that my preference is to be the slow guy in "A", rather than the fast guy in "I". I hope that how things shake out.
  3. I want to ride in whatever group lets me safely run my pace without tearing up my equipment... and for selfish scheduling reasons, isn't the first on the track in the morning.
  4. Maybe this is a redundant question -- but will those that ran "A" last season be able to run "A" at all without a race license? Asking because I want to know whether or not to have my leathers on when I show up for my first trackday this year -- being auto-bumped to I(exp) ...or if I can keep running slow "A" pace. None of the coaches gave me any feedback last season, good or bad, right or wrong; so I just assumed I was out there doing OK.
  5. I can do consistency, but the SV and I may not be able to muster blisteringly fast laptimes. IMH(umble)O, having run both "I" and "A" last season, even though the riders in "A" were allowed closer passing, I felt safer in "A" compared to "I" group. I think that echos some sentiments here about the "I" group being a little bit of a cluster at times. I can appreciate what these new group rules are trying to fix. I'm anxious to see this process in action and how it's going to affect folks.
  6. Educate me on what type of bike prep is needed to run endurance above and beyond trackday prep, please.
  7. I think that only applies to half-day riders on sumos.
  8. Bought 4 single day certificates at 25% off.
  9. I should be at MidOh tomorrow and Wednesday. See you guys there!
  10. I figured it was half "nice save" and half sarcastic "way to go, bud" Total goof up on my part. And 100% agreement on the weather. Almost as perfect as you're going to get in Ohio.
  11. Also, unless there was another new blue R1 out there in our group, I'm pretty sure OSUYZFR1 was spitting flames out of his exhaust on that sick sounding bike. At least he was when he passed me. What a gorgeous machine.
  12. I wondered how many people saw the ol' "baja the bustop" or "keyhole cut-through" move. I came in a little hotter than normal into the bus stop and to compound it, my boot slipped off the peg. It was my first "off" at MidOh, but not the first time I've had a sportbike in the grass. The video isn't that exciting to watch either, but I'll have it posted later. I'm just glad everyone was WELL AWARE of my intended re-entry point in the keyhole and slowed up a little for me. I had a great time riding with you guys. I talked to Tom after we swapped passes in the afternoon session (good footage of that). Rode really clean and consistent. I was upset the SV wasn't reeling him in (I thought he was on a Superhawk), until I found it was an RC51 with some engine work done. His fuel smelled really good coming from his tailpipe though.
  13. Plenty of room in the "A" group for you Chuck. Though I thought it was odd that they made me safety wire my kickstand up. According to the MidO site that's not required, and walking around the paddock, none of the other "A" bikes that had kickstands had them wired up. Thanks to Dave, the guy next to me, for helping me put the bike on the rear stand after each session.
  14. Looks like trying to walk-in on Tuesday morning for me...
  15. Hoping to be there one of the two days as a walk-in.
  16. No update on his condition. He was moving when I rode by as well (14:20 mark in the video). If it's the same guy I'm thinking of (comes in around the 4:00 mark between me and my buddy on the red 848), he was on a mission to scrape elbows with the track (and I think he was going for his helmet too). They were nice enough to pack his bike and trailer and a buddy of his moved his truck. https://youtu.be/gJk24SHHZ4A If I had to guess, given where he was at in Thunder Valley, I think he may've tried an over/under move going into TV and was on the inside of the straight, and another rider on the outside may've unknowingly pinched him off setting up way early for T13 (the lefthander at the top of TV).
  17. I have a Sony AS100V and then bring the data into a piece of software called Dashware to do the overlays. It's all in the GPS data, so if you had a QStarz or some GPS recorder, Dashware could do the same thing to your video. You have to sync it up manually in Dashware, that's why the audio looks like it's a little off from the speed sometimes. You can sometimes get the camera on sale for $149.99. Dashware is free.
  18. Last post for the videos on 7/6 trackday. 11AM session - 9:30 of following Brian. 10AM session - Almost get to Jim at the 4:50 mark, but it takes until around 6:45 mark to really follow him until the 8:10 mark. 9AM session - Jim is around the 8:00 mark into the carousel Again -- everything is in this playlist http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3DKaZ-xouqxl85fzyKjd84z9cfIWkEik
  19. 4PM session. Here's almost 9 minutes of chasing Brian - then traffic hit us in the esses. 3PM session. Nearly 3 minutes here chasing Brian - then passed braking into the esses. Chuck comes by in the carousel around 5:45 2PM session. Trying to get out of pit lane behind Chuck, but puts two bike between us and I never catch up again. Found Brian at 16:00 and passed in the carousel. Still uploading 1PM, 11AM, 10AM, and 9AM sessions -- I'll review those once they're done. Also, if any of you 675R guys want to trade bikes for a session... I'd entertain the idea
  20. I've got all the raw footage from my two unpaid amateur videographers - so excuse how shaky the videos are (frankly, some are just there for archive purposes as the footage is mainly unwatchable), I'm still in the process of uploading my raw onboard footage and the same clips with the Dashware overlays. Everything will eventually reside in the Mid Ohio 2015/07/06 playlist here: If you ran the intermediate group -- there's a 95% certainty you're in ONE of the videos in there. Brian (ludwb675) - A couple I know you're in: Shaky clip, but 1:25 on the front stretch: (Chuck and Jim both appear briefly at the end)Not so great footage, but I think I'm passing you under braking: Long way around the keyhole: Behind you in the esses: Behind you in the esses 2: (All of us are in this clip)You were putting more distance between me and you, but then...traffic: You and I heading out of T1: Into the esses off the backstretch (2:15, 4:10): I know I've got onboard footage of you too, I think it's in my 11AM, 3PM and 4PM sessions Chuck (Chuck Clay) - Can't miss the sumo in these: Brian briefly leads this clip, but the sumo is around 0:15 mark - Tearing up the front straight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-tdGTMYfSMThunder Alley - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cA0OfNOByMkThunder Alley 2 (0:25): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-eXZIqJIp0Around the carousel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2ZV1ierfFwPassing in the carousel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mFolqvf5J0In the esses: In the esses 2: (All of us are in this clip)Carousel (0:40): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NO4ql2lEtrEInto the esses off the backstretch (2:00. 5:40): Arguably, Chuck is in ALL the videos because that sumo makes quite the sound. Jim (jschaf) - yellow CBRs are also hard to miss: Around 2:3mark here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJgA1n3e_koPit out at the 0:25 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T016ykwWd3IAround the carousel (1:45): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4axt9g3Y8msBrief shot in the esses: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPYWGZPlUaQIn the esses: (All of us are in this clip)Into the esses off the backstretch (4:30): Esses again (2:30): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hWO-46FyucI think I've got onboard footage of you too, I just don't know which sessions yet. I also was able to grab footage from the June 2nd, 2015 trackday too if you want to take a look to see if any of the ORDN members that attended that trackday can find themselves in those clips: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3DKaZ-xouqwl7ZeBQhgQnJWXS90QpIm3
  21. I think you were the only one in "I" on a yellow (mostly stock) CBR -- did you end up in china beach on one of the sessions?
  22. I think I've got some video of you on the sumo too, Chuck. I was hoping for a little more cat-and-mouse like last time, but traffic wasn't helping make that happen.
  23. Brian -- you were definitely running a faster pace last session. I'm pretty sure you started off in front of me for 3 out of the 7 sessions, so I have lots of footage of you. I'll get it uploaded to the Youtube as soon as I can find some time and let you know.
  24. I was informed there were spots for walk-ups. Does anyone know if they take credit cards on site for the walk-ups?
