    Tariffs

Felix Lace is just a wannabe Alex Jones. there is nothing he says that should be given any credence. Dude thinks Women are inferior, LGBT people are mentally ill, low IQ and high crime affecting black people makes a case for segregation, and Central Banks are driving immigration to increase the lending pool. I mean it's pretty out there levels of conspiracy theories, and it's all pretty ill informed, poorly researched, and horrible stuff. I will say this, there seems to be lack of good credible conservative commentary right now. All the usual suspects have kind of taken the fox news model of be controversial for the sake of controversial and run games of whataboutisim and false equalivency (real or not) instead of posing any real conservative plan or position.
  2. do you still have those other factory rims for it?
  3. I say yay. and if not all red, then at least a red lip stripe.
  4. https://jalopnik.com/please-buy-this-man-s-italian-money-toilet-1819008613 Like a shady massage parlor this story has a happy ending: https://jalopnik.com/someone-fixed-that-poor-craigslisters-maserati-money-to-1819186921
  5. I think the Pontiac specific dash more than makes up for the front end. It's way better looking than the Malibu rectangle speedometer, or the printed dash gauges in a rectangular housing that replaced it. Plus the pontiac grille looks better blacked out than the silver/argent they are normally painted.
  6. what was the issue with the Chevelle? I drove through with the wife's Audi around 7:00, and the meet looked like it was in full swing and a lot of fun. I had my 6year old in tow and realized it probably wasn't the best place to be chasing a kid around so went home. Glad everyone had fun.
  7. a freak due to rarity: https://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/d/1979-pontiac-grandam-factory/6626396218.html It's a 4sp manual trans G-body, with a V8, not rotted out, and low miles. Can't be more than a couple 100 made at the time, who knows how many left now.
  8. speaking of Diesels: https://tippecanoe.craigslist.org/cto/d/91-d150-cummins-swap-short-bed/6624009324.html This looks like fun, and it's strange you don't see a lot of diesel swaps on older dodges like you do with chevys of fords. also, diesel swapped wagoneer that isn't lifted and crushed like an empty beer can on every panel because..wheelin'...: https://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/d/1990-jeep-grand-wagoneer/6614672773.html ...and Diesel swapped Hummer H2 (why didn't GM make these stock again?) with a crackpipe price tag: https://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/cto/d/hummer-h2-diesel/6610583621.html
  9. I hate to say it, but although the US is the largest market for motorcycles, Europe seems to be the only place where HD's brand is showing any signs of growing (or even maintaining consistent sales). They have to play to their strength at the moment, and with the tarrifs that means more overseas production and loss of American Jobs. But it's kind of what the japanese automakers have been doing since the 1970's (or did we forget Honda made motorcycles in Marysville from 1975 to 2012?). Maybe the new Tarriffs will cause Honda to re-open their Marysville motorcycle division to offset the loss of HD jobs. In other news.... https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/trump-calls-deporting-migrants-immediately-without-trial-n886141 Can somebody get this schmuck a 7th grade civics lesson?
  10. Except it's not "really" a 1 year only engine - it's more of a one year only engine designation. Another GM thing is to give "variants" of existing engines their own names like they are "new" designs when in reality they are often little more than cam and intake upgrades. The 1 year only LS2 was literally little more than a cam and some minor tweaks to the LT7 (which itself was actually a significant redesign from the LT6). Either way, GM lost money on all these engines because they just didn't sell. No turbo meant that the diesel was bog slow, and nobody wanted a 80's GM product that was slower than the 80's GM products that were already out there. What's interesting to me is the cars they put it in - there is a 1984 Chevy G-body Monte Carlo and Elcamino diesel as well as a GMC Caballero Diesel - those have to be rare now. FWIW, I always thought the X-11 Celebrity hatchback with the eurosport treatment would have been a hot little hatch. That "stacking boxes" design of 1980's gm sedans and coupes just bugs me.
  11. wow, a 9.7 pass with a 1.7 60 ft - that thing must pull like a freight train once in boost. Like fast and furious NOS special effects except real and made with compressed air. Awesome seeing you and the car at Cars & Coffee. I was surprised at both the presence the car commanded and the mix of really amazing craftsmanship (like your roll cage) and janky zip ties. That thing drew a crowd.
  12. I just got lung cancer from looking at that interior pic. holee shit.
  13. interesting, but not completely unexpected, twist: https://gizmodo.com/uber-driver-in-fatal-tempe-crash-may-have-been-watching-1827039127 So Let's see: Uber disabled emergency braking relying on the operator, then it cut the number of operators in the car because :dumb:, then the operator who was being relied on to drive was watching TV because as all those tesla videos show - watching a semi-autonomous car driving is just a step more boring than watching paint dry.
  14. Did I meet you at Cars and Coffee? Lowered white A3 with rims? I have the lowered black one.
  15. I keep seeing a reference to 3/32nds difference being the tread depth on an edge online, but don't quote me on that. If he's really worried, he could have the new tire shaved to match the others.
  16. overall diameter "should" be roughly the same size for an AWD car, but there is some tolerance. BMW's factory AWD cars with 18" rims in staggered sizes has an estimated .4% difference in diameter from the factory. The logic is that the difference in tire sizes will stress the transfer case or transmission and eventually lead to failure. In some cases like subaru this is to true it's almost a religion, in others it's more of a semi-strict guideline. What kind of car is it? Each mfg has it's own tread depth measure tolerance for it's cars and you usually can find that info in the service manual. Generally speaking on a subaru all tires have to have a circumference within 1/4" (2/32nd tread depth) of each other, audi's run a little looser at 1/2" (4/32nd tread depth). It sounds like the car has a part time AWD system and it's either FWD or RWD unless there is a loss of traction, and someone hasn't been rotating the tires. He can try rotating the tires with the most tread to the drive wheels and check it until it balances out. he should also check that all tires are the same pressure since pressure affects tire diameter and tread depth.
  17. The only advantage of a fastback roof on a 2 door is to get one of those frameless ones that makes it easy to unzip and store. Plus they are $300-$400 new vs $600-$900 for an actual new softtop. Quadratech is great, as is Morris 4x4 parts, but a new 4wheelparts has opened in Cbus if you want to go down there and actually physically look at tops. Also I will always plug Trail Quest in Plain City - he can get you anything you see in catalogs and install it to, he only does jeeps.
  18. I didn't want you to miss all that stunning forehead detail, lol. Anyway, switching gears - anybody want to talk about some car related politics? https://jalopnik.com/daimler-cuts-profit-expectations-ahead-of-looming-trade-1826985829 how recent tariffs can still hurt Americans in America:

  21. betcha that phone is blowing up....lol. I'm totally calling this afternoon. The article gets one thing wrong though - it's "The White Supremacist Stephen Miller" for his continued support of actual white supremacist Richard Spencer (who by the way, wrote the seeds of this policy while a grad student at Duke). Still, it's not all Miller's fault (though he is still a gigantic piece of shit), Jeff Sessions, HuckaSanders, That weird piece of Ikea furniture that is running homeland security - they are all complicit. Fuck ALL of them.
  22. dude, don't even....there are people here that are sure it isn't even happening because some pic of some kid in a cage is not real or because of their lack of understanding of some events in 1997. It's supremely disappointing. Truth is - what is happening now is happening specifically because of the zero tolerance policy, and not anything else. And it's not about conditions or photos, or audio which pulls at your heart strings - its about the act itself of the state kidnapping children. someone said it best yesterday in chat: thinking it's ok to take children away from their parents because of some imaginary line makes you a monster.
  23. Right on!!!! love me some supercub. Good luck and remember be patient. Whose plans are you using?
