  1. Okay, I'm back......sorry I missed ya two tall....ya shoulda went!

Icing my right knee.....cruiser leaning and pavement took my foot off the peg....left side had the decency to scrape the "curb feeler" on the end of the foot peg....Time for a new pair of boots....heels wore down from scraping pavement....fwd controls....I feel like I am walking up hill in these boots now.

When can we do this again?

  2. Hey! I get off at 3:30 AM....anybody wanna ride, SR36, Howard's-Danville, SR514 and SR520 in the darkness of the early morning?

Too Tall, you get off about then right?

......just kidding , unless you are out and about that time of the morning......I can show y'all the deer spots, come hunting season...

  3. Looking for 7.35 mm ammo for my Antique Carcano.....this is not the 6.5 model....I need 7.35. Only made it one maybe 2 yrs. NOT interested in WWII surplus ammo.

I have emails in at 4 different manufacturers/suppliers....no one has responded. Great customer focus,eh?

Found a place in Marion that handles Buffalo ammo....one I had sent a note to. Looks like a road trip to Marion one of these days....

Buffalo, Graf & Sons, and I forget the other 2 I contacted.

Smiling....saw another Carcano at Glenmont....guy pleaded with me to make an offer....tempted, but did not.

Again, I am searching for 7.35 mm ammo, for 1939(?) Italian Carcano rifle.

    Lemme know, k?

  4. Whoa! Dave just let me know, he has set up a Range Safety Officer training course, $75, be a current member of NRA ....$25 dollar deposit by April 30. Training date is Saturday, May 2, 8AM to 5PM.

Instructor is Bill Tinlin, excellent teacher, by the way. Contact him at 330.852.2156, if you are interested or have questions.

So I guess the range WILL be ready soon.

  5. We was in Danville prolee about then, but earlier we were in the Sportsman's club right by youse guys at 520 and 62.

Dave Sauer is setting up a range there. Wife and stopped to see how he was coming along....it'll be soon. Itz $15 to join Sportsman's club.....

So some one can organize. A Shoot and Scoot ride. Go to ranges shoot a bit and ride to the next on.????

  6. That's 'cause I was on USR62, too tall Timmy!

Other bits, avoiding closed 60. The long winding back road is really tore up....the one off of 62 has no pavement in spots...guess they got tired of spreading patches....use at yer own risk. It is bad all the way over the ridge, that's where it is Coshocton's 323. Spring Mountain road CR19 and turning into CR22, is better headed to Warsaw from Killbuck. Travel in the opposite direction has breaking up pavement.

  7. About the ODOT site, I am in District 11 and quite coincidentally, I jus' found this info, go to :

    transportation.ohio.gov/Service/Road-Construction

for state wide construction information. Haven't actually tried it as yet....

Well! I tried it got a 404. Smiling, maybe itz just me and electronics......I'm thinking that there should be a site to list all the highway projects. Grand idea!

  8. Legal to hunt with suppressors now, not sure if its across the board with all animals and legal calibers or if there are restrictions. I am sure that ODNR will have some say in the specifics.

An individually owned NFA item may be used by others as long as you are present. Cannot leave item unattended when others have access to it....considered an illegal transfer. Grantors and trustees may both have possession of the items contained in the trust. Again, access to them must be restricted to individuals not in the trust when you are not immediately present.

Have always been told that you have "invited" the carpetbaggers to come kicking your door in to see das papers, but have been advised that in the case of an nfa item, normal warrants are needed for a door kick. I believe they reserve the right to enter your listed address for place of business when an SOT status (class III dealer) is attained. Something about being able to check inventory...didn't read too deep as it doesn't apply to me.

Its really all a big bunch of mess trying to sort out the intricate details of the GCA and NFA regs. Hopefully, the FBI will take over soon and may run things a little more sensibly.

Sounds right....our discussions revolved around how picky they were going to be, with present atmosphere, on letting someone shoot yer stuff while you were standing there. We being the folks around here, wondered, but not bothering to confirm.

This is where, Joe, mentioned above, does all that paperwork on suppressors (or machine guns). He says it is real easy (on silencers) - which have been legal all along, provided you did the paperwork.

He makes up the suppressor and does the paperwork.

I hadn't heard how far the suppressor for hunting measure got thru legislature. Thanks, and yep on rifles in Ohio for the first time, presumedly for deer. Our local ODNR guy will be at the Glenmont gun show (4/18) ... Easy to talk to and access for info on the hunting.

  9. Look thru the old strings...USR62, SR60, etc....pretty much the same things going on...been riding, albeit wet...the last few days...early morning deer Union mtgs in the road, panic stops at 4AM due to group crossings.

Headed down Cambridge way, in Coshocton, SR 658, pavement is nasty.....if they resurface it anytime soon, add it to your choices....who needs Dragon's!

  10. ....and ... oh Yeah, I also understand having the "forms" in order on a suppressor, the fine print says, you allow gummermint access to 'inspect' anytime....not too keen in my view, but ! Hey! I'm just a woodland creature, back in the hills with all the other Appalacia. (Google yer self on da spellin')

  11. Tomorrow, in Berlin, holmes county, Ohio is a "Trust" gun auction. "Red" Miller had a Sporting Goods store in Berlin. I lost track of him over the years, not sure what happened to him.

BUT, there are some old rifles up for sale....noteably, a Springfield Trap Door....think Gen. George Custer time frame, you know the very first government gun seizure, but in reverse....Indians took all the Springfields from the 7th....anyway. Older rifles up. .577 cal Snyder-Enfield.....should any elephants be stopping around her in the woods...if you are interested..

kaufmanrealty.com. Look for link on Allen "Red" Miller auction. Tomorrow, April 9, at 10 AM.

Glenmont Gun Show is Saturday, April 18, 9-4...$5 at door....breakfast is served. Come early - that's when the deals are made....early Afghanie flint lock, absolutely beautiful, sold for $200, before show even got started....

    Bye fer now...

  12. ...to pipe in, generally the trust would be the better way to go. Not sure where Ohio legislature is on the okay ong of suppressors for hunting. You can own them legally anyway ( and machine guns) if paperwork is in order. $200 fee (may be $300) one time for you, selling it, and gummermint wants another fee.

The general drift is...you own it and ONLY you, so no one else could shoot it....or, trust owns it.....and you can pass it around to other trust members.

Local guy here for all the legal stuff, paperwork/forms, yadda, yadda.....

Joe West ... Is FFL, he does make suppressors. He has a machine shop. So see Joe for firearms, machine guns, suppressors....

    330 567-2455, Fax 330 567-3376. Or jjperformancepb@gmail.com

Or....you could slip filing on the sear, when doing the routine maint. Red endearing your firearm.....uh, nevermind...
