  1. *Most* of my Hoover pics that AM I went B/W like this one: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3738/9778816664_8e42582329_b.jpg But I liked the mix of color / morning fog like in this one: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3800/9810659063_210c1b90ba_b.jpg
  2. Thanks! From my front-porch this morning: http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5492/9809478994_0f40d9701d_b.jpg That pic is 99.99% straight out of the camera. I tried to tweak the colors a bit and it just looked fake so I put it right back to the way it was lol. Crazy colors this morning. Jeff

  11. Technically speaking I have had it for a little while but a Corvette and two kids means it tends to hibernate quite a bit Jeff
  12. Thanks! Here it is in color (Easier to see the setting sun in the barn): http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3732/9589779583_f68854ce9c_b.jpg
  13. Thanks! I haven't taken any car pics in forever so it was fun to try to find a few new spots and get something to "Work" out here in the country. If I stumble across anything else that catches my eye I'll post up a few more Jeff
  14. Nice pics! The Caterham shot and rainbow are my favs, Jeff
  15. Spent 20-30 minutes looking for spots that might make for decent car pictures. All of my old "Spots" are down by the old shop (Down-town /South C-bus) and I was trying to find something within a 2-3 mile radius of my house. Pickings were a little slim but this is what I came up with: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3821/9592537122_db30e515c8_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3818/9590751795_9bc5bee774_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7400/9593554712_d5df4c42fa_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7427/9590741811_7fb228ef0d_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7433/9592552812_d102950dc7_b.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5345/9592470700_d8d942c08c_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3804/9589718915_5be80db04c_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3671/9592412574_2cc3a9e1a5_b.jpg
  16. My 2-cents would be to look at what other Photog's use track-side when you are out. I have and from what I have seen 99% that shoot down-track are using a 70-200mm (Pick your flavor) and for walking around the pits / lanes you can use whatever you want honestly. That is why I suggest the 50mm since its dirty cheap. Wider is better if the budget is there and if you don't need the 2.8 save a few bucks and get the Canon 15-85mm. Not fast but great IS and zoom range on a crop. Jeff
  17. We just happened to be walking back to the pits when these cars were driving off the track / driving by: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7431/9448875594_8185241dc1_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3682/9446085665_65f981a35a_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3694/9446116229_fa101c82e5_b.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5477/9446128599_7e3834b16f_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7302/9446105409_f03f0958d7_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3787/9446094729_67c2805fd0_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7289/9448857314_298e5647ec_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7307/9446069689_06dbba440b_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7359/9448844296_d8966ceca1_b.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5516/9448849482_edf4476e42_b.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5323/9448825076_fa52e90de2_b.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2862/9446052985_cb98b1b176_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3794/9448806414_6977cd58cd_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7372/9446014263_cba2e2e445_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3760/9446004371_e80d42a853_b.jpg
  18. Took the kiddo's so even though I took the camera I took very few pics (Carrying around a 3.5 year-old doesn't make taking pics very easy lol). Here are a few I did take: http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5344/9446228451_8e557215b6_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3712/9449007928_f0a6d7e78c_b.jpg http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2861/9446212391_a283d4da61_b.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5338/9448977406_701fd06195_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3695/9448960134_29fcdb4fc0_b.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5523/9448938292_b01a45079d_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7419/9446147627_9bae50bba2_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7376/9446136967_c31e4583c0_b.jpg One of Graham's pit-guys getting ready for a stop: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7373/9448742742_9c40304d31_b.jpg My son saying Hi to "Clutch" through the fence: http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3790/9448748056_30d33c3ac9_b.jpg
  19. Having been out at the track (Dragstrip) quite a few times things typically end up going well into the wee hours so the faster the glass and the cleaner the high-ISO the better. Can't beat a 1.8 for $80-90. On the flip-side, your locations tend to be pretty static so a zoom is nice when walking forward/back isn't an option. If you are primarily shooting in the sun at noon anything works if you aren't splitting hairs in the IQ dept. Jeff
  20. Assuming you need it primarily for track-side use I would grab a 50/1.8 and then a 70-200/2.8 of whatever flavor (Sigma / Tamron / Canon V. 1) and call it good. Since the 50mm is less than $100 I would get it first. Jeff
  21. 600+ rwhp ZR1s are fun Good races!
  22. Oh I get it for that. Many don't use DSLR's for video (Regardless of how good or bad) which *Most* of the improvements seem to be based on. The 7D II will be more expensive for sure but if it comes with the 5D III AF and 8+ FPS and *IF* they can work on a new sensor to keep the noise in check and improve DR it will be a SOLID upgrade to Canon's current line-up. Jeff
  23. Depending on what you shoot I'd wait a little longer for the 7D II. I only skimmed the stats but nothing jumped out at me. Jeff
  24. Thanks! These were 500mm and most likely in 1.2 crop mode. I pulled in the driveway and saw them behind the house, grabbed the camera and snapped a few from the front yard before they ran off. Jeff
