  1. Correct me if I am wrong, but even if I use a Helicoil, I am going to need to drill/tap. This will cause shit to fall down in the cylinder. ?
  2. This could apply to any engine, but i figure I would be specfic as to the car typein the title. A month or so ago my GF was driving back home from work when her car started having an issue. I get there and find the front middle spark plug is completly out. Wierd, but no big deal. I go get my tools, put it in and trq it down. Today she is on the way to work when it comes out again. I am at work so she can't get a hold of me. She calls AAA. They arrive and tell her "the spark plug is 2 small for the hole, and the hole has become stripped" Interesting theory... Sure enough however the spark plug well thread is stripped and the spark plug won't thread in. I even went so far as to remove another plug and try it. I personally think AAA boy did something he shouldn't have..but I digress. I am now left with a stripped out middle bank. I am assuming I will have to pull the head and either A. Replace it. B. Have someone weld it in some, and then retap. I believe this are aluminum heads for what that's worth. My hope in posting here is that someone will have a "shortcut" so that I may cheat having to pull this motor all appart. TIA, Howard
  3. On the 2nd gens that is a sure sign of a vacuum leak. I'd start there.
  4. Everything is A OK. Just have to finish up some brake work. Car should be on the road tommorrow.
  5. Well after extensive research, and multiple suggestions, two of the 10 studs are in. Thanks to Brian for the "freezer" trick idea. MKIII studs WILL work on a MKIV. Just need to show them a little love. Read "BFH" Anyway, Steve is not out of the woods yet. Have to wait and see if this fixes his orignal problem of his wheels not fitting. Thanks guys! Howard
  6. These will be going on a set of stock rims. I want to be able to put the stock rims on and drive them to the track. I don't want ET Streets.
  7. What drag radials does everyone recommend. Also if I am going to be driving around on the street with them, what is a good match up for the fronts?
  8. Already posted on SF. Searched SF, and posted to the MKIV big list.
  9. Tried. Wheel Source. Passen (eek) Discount Tire Several places online. Seems like most Supra guys are using Morroso Studs. They are 3inches though (to long), not quite the right knurl, and will require different lugs. Still looking. Might be a nice set of Advan/Yokohama rims w/ Perelli tires for sale soon.
  10. this should probably be in Tech now that I think of it....
  11. I am trying to source longer wheel studs for my friend Steve's MKIV. He purchased set of rims used, and they did not clear the caliper. He ordered a set of Hubcentric adaptors from a local dealer, and he sent him HR Adaptors which come with wheel studs. Well the HR Adaptors that were sent are for a MKIII. The Adaptor works, but the studs do not. The head has a different type of thread on it. Steve has checked several places, but no one seems to make these. I need to know who manufactures them/where to get them. The Adaptors were 15mm. I believe the new stud is just under 2 1/2 inches. TIA,
  12. Sounds like your clutch is slipping. Moving to tech section.....
  13. Kyle, I don't make it out much during the week. I work Mon-Fri 11pm-8am. Needless to say I rarely make it to hooters. I talked to Brett(Silver Z on here), and he it going to see when he could do it. We're also going to see if we can score access to a lift to make life easier. In theory it's a simple job, but when dealing with exhaust work all the little convinences help. It took me 5 hours to do my DP on stands and with hand tools. Shoot me an email, and I'll get you my cell # Later, Howard
  14. The downpipe is the part of the exhaust between the turbos and the cat. Most of the time they have an extra cat on them. Kyle, Drop me an email. I can probably get you taken care of. Later,
