  2. Oh, and here's the origin of stretch for you non-believers http://randy.mainevwscene.com/images/stretchorigin2.jpg
  3. This is an example of fucking stupid. http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh227/nimmodub/stretch.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c24/johnnyopolis/VW-Bora/P1000509.jpg http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r121/mikemk5/DSC_0051-1.jpg
  4. Well, I don't want to go into too much detail because I'd have to explain the culture behind tire stretching(hipari), but without much explanation I'm sure it's not hard to believe that it significantly reduces side-wall flex. Because of this there's a better feel for the car's behavior and in some cases, a car can exhibit better turn-in. Not only that, but I've read in many cases where theoretically, stretching can provide somewhat of a static camber for a solid rear-axle vehicle. I've done my share of experimenting, and I saw the biggest benefits when I had to run a cheaper tire with a larger sidewall. There is a fine point where stretching too much has absolutely no gain, but minimal stretch can be beneficial in some cases. Obviously you're going to want the largest contact patch possible for best grip, but if you're doing mega stretch on a rim just because you want a huge rim to fit a car, there's absolutely no benefit. I'm no expert however, I'm just going by what testing I've seen done by Formula D, D1GP, TRD developers and other experienced drivers, and even my own personal experience with what tracktime I do have under my belt.
  5. I'll take this one.. do you accept plastic? http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a299/iwashmycar/ect/3333333.jpg
  6. ahhahaha, shit cracks me up.
  7. EXACTLY what I was thinking.
  8. There are some benefits to tire stretching in a performance standpoint.. but nowhere near as much stretch as some VW guys run. I find it appealing to a point, but it's definitely more of a, "look who can stretch the most" kind of thing. I mean, I'm running a 225/40-18 on my 18x8.5 RS4 wheel.. that's a LITTLE stretch, but I need it to roll out as low as I am. Good luck getting a finger between my tire and fender. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c8/eightsixgts/rps4.jpg
  9. Probably, lol. Shit like that can be very frustrating.
  10. Not sure how I feel about the sawblades on VW's. http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa294/erics_car/056.jpg http://i196.photobucket.com/albums/aa294/erics_car/fall%20shoot/_DSC4784.jpg
  11. You like that? I thought it was terrible
  12. Fucking copper gasket spray doesn't work better than that RJC shit? That's the most rediculous thing I've ever seen. BTW, the buick front end on the camino makes it look even more like a douche canoe than it already does.
  13. Young grasshopper, must I show you the secrets of PS?

  15. I remember why I left Ohiodrifting now.
  16. I fucking love the sound of VR6s, and slapping a turbo on them is even better.. If it ate wheel bearings it must've been pretty rowdy. IR jealous
  17. Amsoil for me.. Once I was enlightened that Mobil 1 isn't even a real full synthetic I stopped using it.
  18. exactly what I was thinking..
  19. I find something fishy about a UK website reporting on a Pink dolphin spotted in Louisiana.
  20. VRT's are secks... I low-key wish I had one.
  21. Ehhh.. this is one Ferrari that isn't too appealing to me.
  22. I wouldn't say the VW's in general are maintenance nightmares, but they do require more attention than say, Toyotas . One thing I have learned about them is that they are very sensitive to when it comes to electricals and vehicle diagnostic. Meaning, every little thing tends to set off a check engine light, but would normally be considered minor to other manufacturers. Like any vehicle, preventative maintenance goes a long way.. especially with VW's. And not that they're necessarily harder to work on either, they just use different bolts in some places that you wouldn't normally see. I've done all of the work on my own VW without any problems other than aquiring the right Torx bits. BTW, IMO Subarus don't come to my mind as being super reliable either.. neither is better than the other in that aspect. The WRX/STI is going to make more power(although heavier) and be AWD, but nothing spectacular in comparison to the GLI as far as handling.
