This may be factual. If you read the TMZ article it says he was previously in the hospital for seizures, but after they seemd to have stopped he was released. I believe it makes sense that he would tweet "alive and well" at that point. The article also mentions that after he was released from the hospital the first time, he went on a condeine binge and was found in his room unconcious. I guess the condeine caused his uncontrollable seizures and a readmittance to the hospital where he was then put into a coma.
