  1. I'm not an "installer" but I train those guys, plus a number of other things. Cable modem is leased for $2.50/month. You can also buy one. I HIGHLY recommend leasing them, as modems in general (all brands) tend to be pretty sensitive to anything, and don't last forever. You have one line that feeds into the house, then it is split from there. Typically, the first 2-way splitter has one leg feeding the modem, and the other leg feeding another splitter that will feed the other TV's in the house. A dedicated line to the modem is always best, but not required. Depends on the home, the signal levels, distances, etc.
  2. I just have a cheap Netgear G series, and it works just fine. $30 at Best Buy. I will say I've seen more problems w/ Linksys routers than any other brands out in the field, which was my main reason for not wanting one.
  3. Brake line, tranny line, and a starter are hardly "falling apart." Besides, it's a $400 car, what do you expect?
  4. I saw that this morning. Silver Celica w/ the factory rice package on it.
  5. - Installed new harness, as my old one expired. - Got the nitrous system rewired and running again - Fixed a couple of leaks, got the car driveable again - Had true duals fabbed up - Ran new best at Trails - Blew head gasket @ Norwalk day on first nitrous pass - Get pissed, decide to just pull the motor and spend a bunch of money. Discovered blown head gasket was due to a warped driver's side head that had to be milled down a bunch. Was most likely the cause of my last blown head gasket that I assumed was from too much timing + bad gas. - All balancing/machine work done on my shortblock. Fully forged 383, splayed 4 bolt mains. Just need cam bearings, lifters, pushrods, custom cam, intake/waterpump gaskets, SFI balancer, and assembled. Should start on that in Janurary. May do some intake porting and a bigger TB, but buying my Avalanche hit the funds a bit.
  6. Which you can't do unless you itemize, and she can't do that with her taxes due to nothing to claim otherwise. The only thing that was breaking on that car was the brakes. That said, it's freaking cold out, my garage is very full, and any time I spend working on a vehicle needs to be the Jimmy and Formula.
  7. I'm man enough to admit a retarded kid can do things (like wrapping) that I can't. They can drool better than me too, which sucks, because I thought I was pretty good at that.
  8. That is so homo. And I wonder how much one of those Nissan motors weight. It's always "assumed" that Japanese motors weight less, but I6 motors w/ turbos are NOT light.
  9. My god, I shouldn't be wrapping presents. But I'm not taking all of these damn gifts to get wrapped. My tape content is about 3x what normal people use to wrap presents. I've had to add extra pieces to cover certain parts, things are all crooked, and crumpled sides just add to the charm, right? Wrapping presents sucks. Now I ran out of paper and have to run out and get some more. PITA I tell ya, but at least I've finished ALL of my Xmas shopping.
  10. That's a wise decision. A good friend of mine used to have a late 80's 18' Bayliner closed bow I/O (has since upgraded to a MUCH nicer boat), and took it out fishing w/ his dad on Erie during a calm day. It beat the crap out of him on that thing, and he said had a storm rolled in, that would have been the last of the boat. These boats are just for inland lakes only. Cumberland is perfect for that though; had a blast last year on a houseboat we rented (I gained 10lbs in 5 days just eating/drinking, and I was slalom skiing a ton too, not just sitting on my ass).
  11. Very funny. He kept it to where everyone could understand it, and general enough that non-enthusiasts would laugh, which cuts a little deeper into those rice boys. Of course we have members here with cars that sound like weed whackers, stickercharged, and big wings on the back. Sad, really.
  12. Sam, I think that boat is going to beat the ever living shit out of you on Erie. I have a 17' Sea Ray bow rider, and I won't take it out on Erie. I've watched those Sea Doo's on Alum Creek, and they seem to bounce around more than mine does on the water. They are quick as hell and very manuverable though!
  13. Anthony, at those boost levels, your P1SC is an advantage for you, as it has less parasitic loss than the P1SC. Otherwise yes, that car has more goodies on it. That is also a stick car.
  14. My Sportster IR will record an hour and 34 minutes of talk radio, and around 45 minutes of music (different compressions used = different amount of recording time).
  15. I've been Stern ready since the end of last year. Though I'd have my Sirius Radio w/ or w/ out Stern, but he definately helped make my choice between The Dog and XM that much easier.
  16. It gets very expensive to go fast and pay someone to do the work for you. VERY expensive.
  17. This guy is being a douche bag, his little for sale thread is going no where, so I'll just go ahead and lock it. If you can post following the simple rules, go for it. If you think I'm being a dick head....well, I'm sure it is bigger than yours.
  18. I wasn't dissing an awesome machine like that C3 either, douche bag. I'm also not the one trashing this car all the while sporting some significant factory rice. I never stated that you thought your car was sweet looking, but simply pointed out that you shouldn't talk about a car like that while sporting what you do.
  19. There isn't a "best" heads and cam. Ported 5.3L heads are popular, as are ported LS1 and LS6 heads. AFR's are another route, as are a few other options. Cams really depend on how big you wanna go. Go to a site like LS1Tech and do a search; don't just post up the question, search on past topics; you;; get your answer. Block strength isn't the problem, piston, piston ring, and rod strength (more the rod bolts then the rods themselves) are the worry areas. Block strength comes into play at FAR higher HP levels than a stock shortblock car could ever make without killing the other components well before hand. I 100% disagree on the only a 75-100 shot is safe on a stock shortblock. I have an LT1, which I'd say the stock shortblock is no stronger than an LS1, and ran a 150 wet shot for a number of years. For most of those bottles, it was 100% internally stock; I even did a lot of bottles through STOCK exhaust manifolds and STOCK Y-pipe/cats and all emissions equipment in place. Ran pretty good w/ that setup too I might add. I just tore down my motor a couple months ago (decided I needed to go fast = building bigger and better). That stock shortblock looked fine; bearings were all nice, and no damage anywhere. 94k miles on it too. **WAIT** I just noticed you are 18 years old. Leave it stock and get good at SAFELY driving this car prior to ANY mods. I know I sure as hell didn't belong in a low 13 second car as an 18 year old!!!
  20. LS6 intake is a good idea. Bigger TB wouldn't be bad. Long Tube headers are a must. MSD coils will be a complete waste of money. Custom Tuning once your mods done is a good idea (Bill Wright on COFBA can do it at an affordable rate). Nitrous is awesome, but comes with its own set of risks and issues + the cost of spray. I'd go cam first, then heads. LS1's allow you to do this without some of the hassles other OHV motors require for a cam swap. Might want to do headers at the same time you do heads, as that makes the headers a REALLY easy job. Don't forget the drivetrain. If its a manual, that clutch will only take so much abuse, especially a 00 w/ the non-Z06 clutch. If its an auto, a tranny cooler and bigger converter are a must. If you want sticky tires, that stock rear doesn't agree with that idea. If you replace the rear (don't dump ANY money into a stock 10 bolt, unless you like throwing away money), and if you have a manual, that LS1 aluminum driveshaft is not up to the challenge. With an auto it is, a manual is just asking for trouble.
  21. When did I ever say my Formula was the sweetest looking ride?? Wait, I didn't. Never said that about the Moostang either. But you calling a heavily modded classic like that an ugly car, all the while driving a factory riced out car, is pretty pathetic. But those are pretty pink stickers on the front. And Dr., I never thought you were dogging the car. I agree the video was lame, but the car sure as hell isn't.
  22. That car is nicer than pretty much ANY car on this site, yet people want to dog it. And someone with gold rims (bling bling, where are the Daytons??), and a big riceboy wing trys to say that car is ugly!
