Bad high-speed vibration in my Avalanche
Nitrousbird replied to Nitrousbird's topic in Tech and Tips
Discount Tire @ Easton balanced them yesterday. They pulled all the weights and just re-balanced each wheel. It did not change the vibration any at all - no better, no worse. I inspected all the tires when I pulled the wheels to clean them - I didn't see any thing abnormal on them. No rough spots or chunks out of them. They are getting worn out (31k on Nitto Terra Grapplers). I didn't spin the wheels on the hubs and specifically check for play, but didn't notice anything abnormal when I pulled and reinstalled them...something I need to check. Front tow hook, and it pulled out from the ditch very easily, so I doubt I could have done any damage from the pulling out part. No play when I was under there yesterday. After checking some of this other stuff, and if it checks out okay, I will likely want to get the driveshaft rebalanced (and probably just do new front/rear U-joints, as at 131k miles now, probably isn't a bad idea). Are there any shops on the North side of town anyone can suggest? I always used the Napa off of 104/Frank Rd when I live in Reynoldsburg, but that doesn't really work for me anymore. -
Nope...though it is rare I even see a cop. But we swim there a lot, and see plenty of other people do it too.

I'll take a useful boat over one that does 100MPH any day.

No. Being an Auto hurts the value on this car a bit. Though 12k sounds depressing, this is a 10 year old car that sold in the high 20k to low 30k range new (and that's at MSRP...probably sold for a real price of mid to high 20's). 12k today is better than most year 2000 cars priced in the same category. Too many WS6 LS1 T/A's were sold for it to have any rare value. If it were a Formula WS6 (last year was 99 for that), it would be worth more. If it were a 30th Anv. Edition (99), it would be worth a LOT more. Same for if it was a Firehawk.

I got a bad high-speed vibration after an "off-road" incident in the Avalanche (stuck up to the frame, probably moved the truck a good 1/8 of a mile or more before having to get it pulled out). Ever since then, it has had a BAD vibration. Below 50 MPH, you don't really notice it much. At 65 to 75 MPH, it vibrates the whole truck badly, especially from 70-73MPH (you can both feel and loudly hear the vibration). At around 76-80MPH, it smooths out nicely to where you barely notice it. Above 80, it starts again. Things I have tried: - Power washing everything. I pulled all the wheels, cleaned them inside and out. Powerwashed axles, driveshafts, wheel wells...there isn't any mud left. I was under there tonight and visually inspected. - Rotated tires. - Today I had all 4 tires balanced. None of this has made any difference at all. I figured the tire balancing would do the trick, but it didn't even improve it 1%. Now I have to start throwing money at this...so where to start? It does it in 2WD, so I can count out the front driveshaft. Rear driveshaft looks okay, other than a lot of surface scale rust. Pull that and have it balanced? Then what? None of the wheels show any sign of damage/inbalance. It has been this way for weeks, since I don't drive it much (I have a company vehicle, and drive the wife's car a lot on the weekends, plus local driving is under 55MPH). But I took a long trip two weeks ago, and it was awful, and will be doing the same this weekend. Any ideas on what to try next would be appreciated. Otherwise, I'm going to have to go the driveshaft route.

No. And I blame a lot of that on Bush...and Obama isn't helping much with that either. We should have never went to Iraq. The US needs to learn to keep its nose out of business we don't belong in - it's the main reason these nuts want to come over and blow our shit up in the first place. I don't think we are any safer here now than before spending billions of dollars and American lives sending them to these sand boxes. What really needs to happen: - Pull out of Afgan and Iraq - Reduce spending by a lot: cut a lot of special projects, reduce welfare, etc. - DO NOT reduce taxes - Most importantly - by taking more in to taxes than we spend, use the extra to pay off debt (politicians have a hard time with this one) This country needs a real business man running it if we ever have a chance of getting it back into shape.

I live just north of Home Rd, and east of Riverside, so we got rain up here. It didn't last super long, but soaked everything.

Those Vapor cases are nice...but damn they are expensive!

That used to be a nice area of town (this happened @ I71 / 161 interchange, just north of 161 and west of 71, near the Giant Eagle). The area actually looks decent in some places - too bad it has become a real shit hole.

http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=82889&page=2 Sorry to hear about this situation Matt. That is just plain awful. It makes it even worse that she was asleep, so you can't have a more unprovoked attack than that. What kind of dog was it? -
PLEASE explain how a Land Cruiser (British vehicle) is somehow Japanese Domestic Market.

Take boat out to O'Shaughnessy this afternoon after the storm passed. Was a little choppy when we went in. Swam for a while, go to wakeboard, and it was freaking small white caps on the water. I tried boarding, but it was hopeless. Sucks too, as there weren't that many boats out, so the water could have been awesome. Cruised and swam some more, then went home.

Oh PLEASE tell me how good Bush was, lol. I love how it is 2010, still haven't captured the terrorists involved in the World Trade Center. I enjoy how we went into Iraq for WMD's...oh wait, there weren't any. We went in for personal oil interests and finishing what daddy started, nothing more. Country went into the shitter while Bush was in power. Obama got a country in a f'ed up situation. I don't think Obama has done a good job by any stretch, but anything was better than Bush.
-
Bush was a really shitty president. If you can't see that, there is no point discussing things further with you. But you probably think we should be in the wars, so of course you are for Bush.

Wrong movie. The truck was in the movie "Class Act." Here is the trailer, where you get a glimpse of it:

I think Obama has done a poor job. That said, is there anyone here that thinks Bush did a good job? Or even an okay job? If you think that, you are officially an idiot. Bush did a worse job than Obama...that doesn't excuse Obama for what he has done, but he is at least a slight improvement. McCain was our other choice, and he was clearly another Bush. Throw in that retarded Palin broad (if you supported her, you need a fucking punch in the face). What choice did the country really have? Hopefully our country has a better choice the next go around. Obama has always been simply the lesser of two evils - how did anyone expect great things from him?

People are still stupid enough to use Limewire? Do you like getting viruses and shitty content?

That case kind of sucks. I just got rid of it...it tore in a couple of months, and started stretching out. It also gets kind of hard to slide in/out of your pocket because it is so rubbery. I just got the SwitchEasy Rebel M. So far I really like it, and have gotten some compliments on it: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110555302776&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

- Earlier CTS - IS300 - G35x - 3-series BMW - B7 A4 - TL - G8 GT if you could find one cheap enough (doubtful) At that price point, there are enough good cars out there not to buy something lame. I was sporting a 2010 Malibu the past 2 days; that car was full of suck.
