^ yup.. you can download any file explorer app on the market to help you move files around on the sd card, or plug it in to your computer and place the update at the base of the sd card.

^ pretty much what he said.. if none of that made sense I would just hard reset the whole phone to factory defaults and try for the update that way. Backup your stuff of course

If this is your first smart phone just get use to it for a few months until some newbie proof root and mod methods are released. Rooting just gives admin rights to tweak the base phone system settings. CM9 = Cyanogen Mod 9 (9 for Ice Cream Sandwhich OS). A team of extreme nerds who live their lives building a custom fully tweakable "OS" for a phone. For a newbie I would suggest reading the Droid forum or Droid Life, tons of new person info Just avoid asking those questions on XDA
