I was like 75% right. Studrawa is probably staying. I think that the Matteson (sp?) thing ended up being almost like a package deal, and Washington will be announced shortly as the LB coach. I've been saying since The Game that UM wasn't out "schemed" by us on defense, just out performed. They don't have the horses yet.
I think Schiano ends up the HC at Temple.
On the game...It was a very un-Saban-like coaching job last night. It felt like he knew right away that he was outgunned.
Haven't seen Nick in that position very often ever.
I feel like there are some coaches who coach games as if there are deep seeded, generational ideological differences between them and everyone else, and the only solution is the complete subjugation of their opponent. Saban and Meyer, for sure. Spurrier was like that, and so was Pete Carroll. They literally get in their opponents heads and make them do shit that that just wouldn't do.
Example: James Franklin had a qb that had rushed for like 200 yards against us this year. They need to convert a fourth and short to keep a drive alive to try and win a game. What do they do? Hand off, from the shotgun, to a running back who has like 40 yards all game.
James Franklin is a decent coach. He fucking knows better.
But he's playing against a goddamned terrorist. Panic happens when you are actually afraid of being destroyed.
Saban got fucking Saban'd last night. Swinney went "Ho Chi Minh" on Nick Saban and scared him right the fuck out of Vietnam.
Going for it on 4th and 1 from your own 35 in the second quarter? That is panic. The fake field goal wasn't even the most egregious example.
Also, Clemson is going to be fucking scary for at least another 2 years.
