60 ish right now. Gonna order one more prop and see if it helps get it to 65. I would be happy with it goin 65 and being reliable. I am already building another 350 with a good bottom end and matched cam and heads for a blower for next season. 450hp is I would need to get it close to 75-80 mph.

Got it all back together. Used a good quality marine gasket and sprayed halamar on them. Got the hei wired in and she is back to running. All is good now after 4 oil flushes.

Well so far it is. Hopefully nothing else got hurt but it looks like everything is ok.

Gonna do both just to make sure even though I know the passenger side is the bad one.

Linn is correct. Will be fixed with a proper marine gasket, not a shitty mr gasket gasket.

This motor didn't last long. I think the motor is gonzo. It won't turn over. Thought the timing was to advanced, not that. I pulled all the plug wires off and tried to start it and same problem. It acts like something is binding up in the motor. Either it wiped the camshaft or something else. I dunno. I'm done with it for now.

I actually let a shop set it for me once and it did the same thing.

Yes, I always do. I loosen it and adjust and once I get it where I want, I tighten immediatly.

Well I think the distributor is either broke or not working right. I cant ever find the mark with the light. So I adjust by ear, get it idling good and once I put a load on it, it begans to miss and it comes thru the exhaust. So I add alil and then it misses and comes thru the carb. I cant find a happy medium and then it over heated, nothing crazy, 200* but it usually runs 140*. So I shut it off. It backfired right before I did and had alil smoke coming from the carb. I tried to restart it after it cooled down and it ran alil rough. So I think the weights in the distributor either broke or are not working correctly. I still cant see the mark on the balancer with the light. Gonna try a new distributor tomorrow and re time and see if that fixes it. The one on the motor now is 22 yrs old so it might have let go.

Ok, well I know it will lean the motor out and what not and make it heat up if advanced, but I wanna know what would be the symptoms of a motor being to advanced or retarded.

If its to advance, what will the motor do. To retarded, what does it do besides the obvious run rough.
