  1. I was previously of the same opinion as your wife; willing to get one after theres more time to assess the side effects. After watching my dad struggle with it (after following all the rules to limit exposure) and knowing the risk factors are not only death, but strokes, blood clots, possible permanent organ damage, etc, I am more likely to get it once it's available to me. I will be keeping tabs on the different trials going on and will be likely to seek out a specific company's vaccine. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  2. There are other opinions on the "success" of Sweden. Also, they do have capacity restrictions at things like restaurants and cafe's, just never went on a full lock down like some other European countries. Their numbers also don't disprove the fact that many people will die, the hospitals will be overrun with cases, which means many will not even receive care if we just do noting and let it run rampant. https://time.com/5899432/sweden-coronovirus-disaster/ Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  3. I disagree with you there. Only a small % of the population has been exposed to the virus by now and herd immunity would need 8 or 9 times as many people to be exposed. We're not even sure herd immunity is even possible. We don't know how long the antibodies remain in your system (beyond 6 months) and there are people who have been infected twice. Also, the case outcome is not just recovered vs died. People that recover can also have chronic conditions that may be permanent, even in young people. This also contradicts your opinion above. We're short on supply, short on staff, yet shooting for herd immunity will massive overrun our hospital systems, shut down essentual services, and probably destroy our economy more than phased shut downs. As it sweeps through hospital staff, EMS, fire houses, police departments, government, businesses there will be a massive number of people unable to work for 2-6 weeks, with large numbers of people dying. You've seen how it can sweep through these places now with protective measures in place. Imagine what will happen is we remove those and give up on any effort to slow down the spread. 4. I agree 100%. What the mortality rate doesn't tell you is that many people who "got better" have serious health issues that may be life long. Blood clots, strokes, lung/kidney/heart/etc damage, and that's not just old people. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  5. Well, the reason people *CAN* say that and still be credible is that in the first wave they were only testing people who required hospitalization. Lot's of cases were never counted. Now that testing has ramped up we are counting more cases, but it doesn't necessarily mean it's worse than the first wave. Assuming the % of cases that will require hospitalization remains steady, you can use this to try to correlate the case loads between the first wave and whats happening now. It's not the full picture though, because real statisticians (not internet experts) would also look at the ages of the positive tests and use the proper hospitalization rates for each age range. There was a previous spike that did not result in a large increase in deaths, and that has been attributed to a large number of the cases were younger. It sounds like the current spike is not just college students. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  6. Here's the national data. Cases, hospitalizations, and deaths are on the rise. Obviously deaths will lag cases and hospitalizations. https://covidtracking.com/data Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  7. ...and most of it is spreading from small gathers at peoples homes...and we're headed for Thanksgiving, with Christmas one month later. This is not going to be good, IMO. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  8. An absentee ballots can be requested by any registered voter for any reason. They don't have to prove that they are not physically able to vote in person. You can even register to be on the permanent absentee list and receive a ballot automatically for every election. If a ballot is mailed to an address where the person currently does not reside (so they moved and did not fill out a change of address or update their drivers license), how would the random person living there replicate their signature well enough to be accepted? Are unsolicited ballots sent to an address with pre-printed names on them? I'm asking for real because I don't know, but I do know that there were some mailers that preprinted this info on applications and they were deemed not vaild. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  9. What state(s) did unsolicited mail-in voting? Edit: ok, I looked it up. Still not sure why its an issue to encourage citizens to vote with security measures in place. Also, Trump likes to claim that some states are sending ballots when they are only sending applications. https://www.reuters.com/article/uk-factcheck-80-million-unsolicited-ball-idUSKBN2622SZ Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  10. Please explain the difference between "mail-in ballots" and absentee ballots. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  11. Proof of this? Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  12. You do remember that part about Trump only avoiding an indictment because a sitting President can't be charged with a crime. Muller said straight up that if he weren't President that he would be facing charges. Also, how many in Trump's circle have been charged with crimes by now? Absentee ballots have been mailed in for hundreds of years with almost no evidenceof fraud. Why make it illegal now? Maybe Biden should make stickers, signs, and flags that say "FUCK YOUR FEELINGS" too. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  13. So these rules were made up and enforced by Democrats? Are all people who count ballots Democrats? Were Democrat "watchers" standing closer than the Republicans? Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  14. There still seems to be an open issue whether it was human error or a software glitch that caused the issue. However, by law MI compares the printed tapes to the electronic results in order to certify the results and that process caught this error as well. If the same issue existed in other counties it would be caught too. Because of this I am not sure if this rises to the level of "evidence of fraud or error" that would be necessary to trigger a recount. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  15. The current counts already did that. The problem is, every state has their own laws that dictate when an automatic recount is triggered and under what circumstances a recount can be requested. For example, in MI an automatic recount occurs if the margin of victory is less than 2000 votes, and the only way to request a recount otherwise is with evidence of error or fraud. These rules exist for the integrity of the election due to a small margin of victory, while also preventing frivolous recount requests by people trying to stall the process. 16. Trump was the one who made it political and fueled the divide. He totally botched the response and policy towards the coronavirus, and he still does this today. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  17. It's insane that this was ever a political issue at all. Ohio has been setting new daily records every day for positive cases, as is the entire US now. When my dad went into the hospital on Oct 13 he was one of a handful of people in the COVID unit. A week later and the floor was filling up and nurses couldn't stay with him as long because they had other patients. He died on Monday. No pre-existing conditions, exercised regularly, and was in good shape before he got COVID. This should not be political. People need to take this shit seriously. Numbers are higher now than they were when we had shut downs in the spring (given that cases were undercounted in the spring), and we're heading towards Thanksgiving. Things could get really bad. 20. I'm going into this thinking Biden is a 1 term president regardless. The Dem's know this is the inevitable play by the opposition and they need to spend the next 4 years elevating several people inside the administration who would take over the nomination in 2024. Mayor Pete appears to be the front runner in mybhead, as he has been doing a lot of campaigning for Biden and done really well sparring with reporters. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  21. When you're talking about a new middle manager at a company, sure I would agree that someone coming in and "shaking things up," or making waves may be ok. The worst that could happen is the company's bottom line suffers and that middle manager eventually gets fired for poor performance. But when it comes to a President who doesn't understand the full impact of the laws and regulations he's making/changing, which directly impact peoples lives, I wholeheartedly disagree. 22. In 2016 Trump promised to eliminate the national debt in 8 years. Instead it's grown the fastest under his presidency than any other president in history, almost 36% from 2017 to 2020 (projected increase of over $8.3 trillion, even before the full impact of COVID is realized) with no signs of slowing. But, please go on about how the Dems are the one's borrowing from our grandkids. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  23. Franklin. Good tip, could try a location out of the city. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  24. Yes. My mom has power of attorney. Just not sure if it's more complicated to show all that or change the name on the title. End result would be the same, just looking for the path of least resistance. She's not keen on standing around in the DMV at this point. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  25. I just realized that the title is only in my dad's name, so I (or my mom) probably cannot sell it, since it looks like these electronic services ask for documents to be scanned (most likely to verify identity). Probably have to wait for a death certificate and go to the BMV to change the name on the title first. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
