  1. As far as I understand, the Keystone XL pipeline was a shit deal for the US. There are huge environmental risks both in construction and maintenance of the pipeline, it was going to transport Canadian oil to the gulf refineries for export (the oil in this pipeline would have no effect on US gas prices), and the construction jobs that were lost were temporary anyway. The notion that killing the Keystone will drive Canada to cooperate with China is a huge stretch, given that all the oil was slated for export from the US anyway. Also, China has invested massively in clean energy technology and unless we start doing the same Biden is right that China will be eating our lunch (they already have a lead). Also, the Canadian Tar Sands are in themselves an environmental disaster, and anything that can be done to shut those down is a win, IMO. In contrast, the Turkmenistan pipeline is for natural gas that will supply the local region with energy and help broker peace deals between countries that aren't the best of friends. 3. All my friends are using Fusion 360. It's free if you are using it as a hobby or make less than $100k (or something like that) from using the s/w. I just built a PC and downloaded it so I can work on other skills as well. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  4. It does matter. At the same point in his illness (if they were truthful about the day he was diagnosed) he was as sick, and possibly sicker than my dad was. Trump was a year older than him and obese. Trump received an experimental drug that was not available to anyone else and went home 4 days later, and the message that followed was that COVID was no big deal, nothing to worry about. It was downplayed (they lied) to the American people about how severe the illness actually was, and his followers used it as a rallying cry to resist lockdown orders. (Bro, it's just a flu, it's not that bad, you've been lied to, it's all about control not public health) Meanwhile my Dad laid in the hospital and continually declined over 2-3 weeks. No miracle drug for him. http://nytimes.com/2021/02/11/us/politics/trump-coronavirus.html
  5. Trump did not "breeze through COVID." I said at the time that he had to be sicker than they told us and I've seen nothing to contradict that. You don't give an experimental drug that has been tested on less than 300 humans to the sitting President of the United States if he only has mild symptoms. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  6. No problem, apology accepted. As stated, let's just move forward and try to have empathy for other people (not saying you don't, just saying in general that is lacking these days). Not everything I wrote was specifically directed at you/your comment, but I wanted to explain my state of mind, of train of thought to hopefully give you a better understanding of my point of view. 7. I understood the post as a response to me, however I did not take it as anti-semitic. It was dismissive and the argument that his son-in-law is Jewish means nothing to me. It's the equivalent of "I have a black friend," and moving the embassy to Jerusalem was not for the Jews, it was pandering to evangelicals. Many Jews disagree with the move and support a 2 state solution in Israel. What it did make clear to me was that no matter what happened people will always defend Trump by saying, "oh, but when he said xxx he meant yyy," or "his words are just that, words. They mean nothing. People pulled the trigger on their own, that was their decision. He has no blame in this." After any culpability in inciting the hatred and paranoia that killed my aunt and severely injured my cousin was completely dismissed, I'm not surprised one bit by people making excuses for him now about the Capitol insurrection. Trump's words as President of The United States matter, they are not said in a vacuum. It's not the same as you or me spouting off on Twitter. Every President needs to understand this responsibility and choose their words carefully. I realize that one reason people like Trump is because he's unpolished and "says what he thinks," or is "not politically correct." But many people have been screaming from rooftops the last 4 years that his words are having demonstratable consequences through a rise in far right extremism, white nationalism, antisemitism, racism, anti-immigrant hate crimes. The response is that those people have TDS, Fuck Your Feelings, and it's not Trump's fault because he didn't pull the trigger. No one in the Republican party ever stood up to Trump, took his Twitter away, asked him to tone it down a bit, or contradicted his message without getting called a RINO or being cancelled from the party. Most amplified his message. The rhetoric and falsehoods continued until Jan 6th and the results were not surprising. It was a train wreck we saw coming years ago. As for Kap, it would have never been as big of an issue as it ended up had Trump not chimed in. The same people screaming about cancel culture because they have a Tweet deleted also lost their fucking minds at this man's peaceful protest and wanted him cancelled. When you represent a brand you never have total freedom of speech, but protesting racial injustice is a strange thing for a brand to take offense to. On the flip side, don't celebrate Kap getting pushed out of the entire league while being angry about not being able to get a shitty pillow at Bed Bath and Beyond anymore. 8. It wasn't this singular event that got her fired. It was months and months of incendiary posts and people calling for her removal. Producers stood behind her until this week. Also, it's a bit tone deaf and playing the victim to equate "conservative views" being under attack the same as Jews in Nazi Germany.
  9. https://www.investopedia.com/terms/m/margincall.asp# They didn't auto sell long positions, they closed margins, which is within their power. They most likely did this to raise capital in order to prevent a liquidity problem, which was just more evidence to everything I was saying in my other posts. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

  11. As one guy put it, This scenario exposed Robinhood for who they are. They wanted to make you think you were riding in a Lamborghini, but in reality you were riding a tricycle. They would have been exposed under any high volume trading, but the fact that it happened here gives the appearance of malicious intent. The reality is they simply don't have the capital to put in escrow and wait 2 days for the deal to close. Major platforms, like Fidelity never limited trading. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  12. The more I learn about the Robinhood situation, the more it appears that it wasn't malicious but it did expose a weakness in their platform. When buying stock they have to place funds in escrow and it takes 2 days for the transaction to clear. Robinhood simply doesn't have the capital to close the large volume of buy orders that came through their platform. It definitely appeared malicious and there should be an investigation, though. 15. Despite this, Michigan has been doing well lately and is starting to relax restrictions, which has led to a bunch of people saying that relaxing restrictions and numbers being low just after inauguration day is proof that that Dems made it all up to hurt Trump. 16. Where do you get your news from? I predominantly listen to and read NPR, but I'll also read stories on CNN, Washington Post, NYT, Vice, Fox News, Reuters, AP, etc to see some of the commentary from different viewpoints. NPR sticks to the facts pretty well and usually has both sides represented in radio interviews. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  17. The reforms I have seen suggested are that a platform could only remove posts that were deemed illegal (but not "objectionable" material), and that rules for moderation would have to be published and followed by the platform, as well as punishing platforms that moderate in a biased way. Here's a good summary of all the positions: https://www.theverge.com/21273768/section-230-explained-internet-speech-law-definition-guide-free-moderation IMHO, I would like some social media BETTER if comments and "sharing" were limited or eliminated in some cases. It would limit the spread of misinformation and eliminate an extremely toxic part of the internet. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  18. Publicly traded companies whose duty is generating maximum profit for shareholders will shift to automation regardless. Automation has accelerated the last few years, partially because the technology is getting cheaper, but also because of the low unemployment rate. The inability to find qualified workers has forced many places to focus on improving efficiency through more automation. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  19. There is a lot of collateral damage from COVID, and some that's probably not even understood yet. It's a sad situation, for sure. For months they have been warning about a second pandemic as a result of COVID: cancer. Over last year cancer diagnosis rates were way down, and it's not because they think fewer people got cancer. The result will be a wave of cancer diagnosed in later stages. Not knowing anything about the nursing home situation I'll ask a few questions; are they following state restrictions or is this the policy of that specific nursing home? How long ago did they finish giving the second doses? If it's a state restriction, it's possible not every nursing home in the state has completed their vaccinations, but the state should be modifying their rules because of this situation. CDC says it could take 2 weeks after the second dose to achieve immunity. If they just finished giving the shots they may be waiting for this time period before relaxing restrictions. 20. Yeah, that sucks. I have a friend who was in the process of opening a restaurant last March, and was in a partnership that was working with concert venues. Everything went full stop. I really want to see a balanced budget and reduced spending, so seeing multi-trillion $ spending packages getting thrown around does give me pause. However, without government spending many business like yours, venues, restaurants, gyms, and many other small businesses are going to go under. I believe that these stimulus packages must happen, but the money has to go to the right places, not snatched up by billion dollar corporations run by members of congress before small businesses have a chance, and people like me don't need a $2k check. Off topic, but have you thought about working with a tech company to do a concert virtually to bridge the gap to 2022? Companies like Big Screen has been doing this for music, movies, and sporting events, you sell tickets just like a normal event. Maybe when people buy a ticket maybe you send them a swag box or something to keep them engaged and make it special. The band performs on stage as usual, but with 3D cameras throughout the venue. In 4 months Oculus Quest 2 users already surpassed the original Quest user count which has been out for 2+ years, so there is a market out there. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
