  1. Michigan publishes the #of tests they run, but I dont think thats going to ultimately give you what you're looking for. To understand if the situation is actually improving or deteriorating you'd probably want to look at # of hospitalizations and the average age of active cases, with a very loose correlation to total # or positive tests. 2. Exactly, greg. We've known for a while that the fatality rate is lower than 3%, and other studies were predicting around 1-1.3% weeks ago. The thing is, at 0.5-1% it's still 5-10 times as deadly as the flu, it spreads more easily (faster spread to more people), has a longer duration (3-4 weeks is not uncommon), and has long lasting damage to your lungs. There is also no evidence that herd immunity even exists, that people who have recovered from it can't get it again, since we don't know how long the antibodies remain in your system. My friends co-worker had it in March but tested negative for antibodies...but those tests are garbage right now too. NPR is pretty even handed reporting. More people should read and listen to NPR. 3. Take the tin foil hat off. I don't think we overreacted, we acted on the best information we had at the time, and theres still much to learn about this virus. Maybe your hospital wasn't over run, but many hospitals were, and the people working there had no PPE, which would only be made worse by the public buying it all up. Maybe your hospital didn't have to bring in refrigerated semi trucks to store all the bodies, but some places did. Maybe your police force didn't have hundreds of officers in quarantine, but at least Detroit did, and I'd be surprised if places like NY didn't have the same problem. Hindsight is always 20/20, and we always remember things as being better than they actually were at the time. But I believe we did the right thing. I can't imagine what would have happened if we continued business as usual from mid-March. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

  9. I am not some blind leftist attacking Trump, even Fox News interrupted Trump's press conference to state that studies are showing no benefits, in some cases increased deaths, and the FDA was moving to revoke to off label approval. Given the side effects of hydroxychloroquine, I'm actually SHOCKED any doctor would prescribe it for any PUSA as a preemptive measure, especially considering everyone that comes in contact with Trump is tested and there is zero evidence that its either safe of effective (Fauci's words). I think it's borderline irresponsible by the doctors to take that risk with a President's health. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  10. Yet all the trials show no benefit and in some cases increased deaths, while the FDA has been trying to pull the approval for using it off label... Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

  12. Some people do that for allergies. My neighbor growing up always did this, even when there was no virus problem. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk

  14. Re: the aircraft carrier comment Whats the average age on an aircraft carrier? How many of them go home daily to family? Yes, 70% of the IS population may get this at some point, just like how many people get the common cold. But TIME is the important factor. More time gives us a chance to find effective treatments, ramp up supply chains, develop safety protocols, and not overwhelm the hospital system. If 70% got sick at the same time the death rate would be higher. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  15. I don't think they panicked badly. It's highly contagious, it causes a lot of hospitalizations, it kills large numbers of people and in many different ways that we still don't understand, and the numbers only look as good as they do because of lockdowns. This would be a massive disaster without lockdowns occurring. With reopening, the worst may be yet to come. Don't forget all the progress that WAS made during these shutdowns; several vaccines are in clinical trials, several drugs have been through trials (and at least one has promising results), and PPE availability has improved. We still fall very short on many things, and the response was initially slow, but without this time off to prepare, we'd be much worse off for the second wave (which would have been one continuous surge without closing). Here's just one example of how contagious it is and how important testing and contact tracing is: https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-05-09/coronavirus-case-cluster-pasadena-birthday-party-mothers-day Example #2: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6919e6.htm Also, in South Korea they traced one guy who went out to night clubs who infected over 100. 16. Yeah, we should just stop testing people. It makes our numbers look bad. /Trump Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  17. You can follow all states reopenings and new case statistics here: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/states-reopen-map-coronavirus.html Remember that spikes in new cases can lag reopening by up to 2 weeks. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  18. But it's on the internet and on a government web site, and we should never trust either of those things. How can we be sure it's true?! Probably more of the lying media conspiring against the public while getting paid off by Soros and Gates, who want to implant tracking devices in people and control them through vaccine injections. Get your guns, turn on Fox News, OAN, or Brietbart and wait for instructions. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  19. It's inevitable. Too many people will ignore any guidelines, and cases will spike anyway just from more people interacting/being out. https://www.michiganadvance.com/blog/location-data-protesters-without-masks-ppe-may-have-spread-covid-19-to-north-west-michigan/ Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  20. I'm in the area but have no plans to come to Columbus since my parents are keeping themselves in isolation. If you know an address or cross roads I can tell you if it's shady or not. 21. https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/05/02/theres-more-accurate-way-compare-coronavirus-deaths-flu/ Good information on comparing COVID-19 to the flu. Indirectly, it supports the NYT article I posted in here a few days ago. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  22. There was an interesting article on NYT showing how deaths this year compare to the previous 5 years, as an estimate of the impact of COVID-19, and it shows it's underreported. At the very least it should show you why hospitals are overwhelmed. Screen shot of the charts below. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
  23. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/apr/24/revealed-leader-group-peddling-bleach-cure-lobbied-trump-coronavirus Apparently, he didn't just get confused about UV light, or make it up by talking off script on the fly, but he's been actively lobbied by nut jobs that are selling this as an actual cure, and before he said this in front of the world those nut jobs claimed to have reached the President directly. Are we surprised that a guy who buys into every Alex Jones conspiracy theory would buy this crap and peddle it on TV as possibly the next breakthrough cure of the week?
