More...All good points, but they bring up the questions: Was Uber deviating from the industry standard? And is there a clear industry standard? This is something the auto manufacturers understand really well, which is why you don't really hear much about their autonomous programs despite the fact nearly everyone in the auto industry has an autonomous program. It's only the "Tech" companies like Tesla and Uber that are playing fast and loose, and as a result we hear about their accidents all the time.
If this tech is to have a chance, it needs to sell that it is safer than human drivers. Pedestrians don't sign up to be part of the R&D of a big company, so those big companies have to be more careful than what is generally expected of them in testing this equipment, and that is something I don't think Uber understands or even cares about.

Yikes Alex. Sounds like one of Jimmy Kimmels fucking tirades.
I certainly believe the car should have "saw" her. Something seems wrong there, but like others said, not a good place to cross no matter.
Look at the sat image of the accident scene. It may not be a legal crosswalk, but the city put a brick paver walkway across the median...not exactly discouraging crossing...

I'm not sure that would be the drivers fault even if they were driving. Black coat- NO lights, not in a crosswalk.
More importantly, is that a dude with tits or a chic with a sole patch?
It's a chick with a felony and a piercing that looks like a soul patch.
Keep in mind that dashcam camera images are deceptive at night. Your eyes have much better dynamic range...
It's no more "unsafe" than a usual distracted driver with an increased reaction time, which is a higher risk than the average driver. Most autonomous chaperones are required to monitor certain things so they are being asked to split their attention - so maybe some procedures need to change here.yeah yeah all the cynics will come out and bitch that everyone is a distracted driver on their cell phone these days, but that's actually not true, no matter how bad columbus drivers seem to be.
Still, it's on the car companies now to prove to the public that testing in a live environment is still prudent and safe. Let's see how they do.
Those would be a factor in a contributory negligence determination, but it's exceedingly, extremely rare, you will ever find a pedestrian to have contributed 50% let alone more than that in the fault realm.
Most autonomous testing is done with 2 people in the vehicle, so the "driver" just has to focus on driving. All driving laws still apply to the safety driver (You could argue more so since they are being paid to do this type of driving), and there are additional restrictions on the "driver" when testing in CA, but AZ doesn't have explicit rules for testing AV's like CA does.
Also keep in mind that AZ, specifically the Phoenix area, is the deadliest place for pedestrians. There were 10 killed in a week at the beginning of March.

The only thing I think this demonstrates is that autonomous car technology is not far enough along to be testing in a live environment, and that when you rely on humans as your system redundancy you are just going to get the same human errors that you had without the technology. Maybe the autonomous tech will reduce accidents in time, who knows, but right now I think the technology needs to slow down on it's push toward adoption, maybe go back to controlled environment testing.
Incorrect. There are companies out there doing it the right way, and, even in your own words, it's no more unsafe than a "normal" human-driven vehicle when the safety driver is doing their job.

Lots of fail in the video, from the driver, the vehicle, and the pedestrian.

It will end up just like the last televised round table discussion where he agreed with Democrats on DACA and border security. He'll start walking back his claims soon.Oh man.Surprisingly, most conservatives aren't on board with Brandon's "fuck due process" plan.
I'm just gonna keep quoting this shit because it's so amazing.
This was all televised.
Indeed.
Yes, if only he could focus.
Thanks Obama.
Fucking Democrats, afraid of the NRA. Who knew that was the problem?
I remember fondly Trump's "Don't be scared of the NRA" rhetoric during his campaign, don't you?
Don't worry guys, I'm sure "All of the gun control bills currently on the table" is just a starting point for Trump's masterful negotiation skills.
I don't even know what to make of this. Just read the whole thing. It keeps going.
I'm not sure what to make of it though. Trump is not dumb, so he's either trying to get everything on the table for some masterful negotiation, or he's trying to load the bill with every crazy proposal such that it never has a chance of passing. Then again, he hates Obama, and would love to toot his own horn that he was able to het something done that Obama couldn't.

Congress has banned the CDC from doing research on gun violence, so this data does not exist (at least from CDC).How do you know this without your CDC research?Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk

I had a Murano as a rental and thought it was quite a bit bigger than the RDX. Are you thinking of the Rouge?I Like 250's. I agree with you on that color too. The FX30 Infiniti is the same vehicle just loaned to the Japanese. The 2.0t and Dual Clutch make it a sporty fun little ride too. Damn infiniti for not using a Dual Clutch in my car. The downside is it's a bit smaller than we are looking for.We looked yesterday just window shopping and the Edge, RDX and Murano, etc. are about the size she wants. I call them mid-size CUV's vs small. I still want her to drive the Highlander to see how it drives.
Stelvios are nice, not sure what deals there are, but they also use a unique (to Alfa) infotainment and Driver Assist system (not necessarily bad, I just haven't driven it). My wife didn't like the sporty seats, but what does she know. They only come in AWD, and the 505HP QV looks awesome but gets pricey.
The Levante has a variation of the UConnect and the "global" driver assist, and now offers "Highway Assist," FCA's first true Level 2 autonomous feature (Highway only). Not sure what deals are out there on these either. It drives nice, looks good, sounds great in Sport mode but IMO a Grand Cherokee Summit is more luxurious inside.
We had a Macan in the fleet. It couldn't go 2 weeks without a trip to the dealer.

Depending on what you want and what your budget is, there is a decent selection...
Buy new 2018 (slightly fewer options)
Buy a slightly used 2017 with full Driver Assist package
Buy a more used 2016 AWD with Driver Assist
Or a 2015 RWD with Driver Assist package
2017 and up has the newer radio with higher resolution screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Also some have the SRT front facia.

Don't worry too much, they're are a TON of 2015 lease returns coming in (from all companies) and it won't be too hard to find another. Plus used car prices and sedans especially are at a low right now.Well shit. No word from insurance but I just found out the 300S AWD that I was eyeing just soldSent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk

What's there to defend when even the evangelicals say he 'deserves a mulligan' for fucking a porn star while his third wife was at home with their newborn child then later paid her off in exchange for silence.
There's no defence necessary when everyone is willing to bend their morals in order to support Trump.

Looks pretty well optioned, since it has the panoramic sunroof, GPS, memory seats, adjustable pedals, etc. Only thing it may be missing is blind spot/ACC/LDW, but that's hard to find one a used 300 anyway.2015 Chrysler 300 S AWD is a very nice and very clean 1 owner All Wheel Drive car! The previous owner was a non-smoker who clearly took excellent care of this car. It sports a clean Carfax and it's very well equipped with AWD, automatic headlights, auxiliary jack, USB port, 2 position memory driver's seat, backup camera, back up sensors, cruise control, dual 8-way power front seats with power lumbar, dual-panel power moonroof / sunroof, dual-zone climate control, hands-free bluetooth, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, keyless entry, leather seats, 2-position memory driver seat, Navigation / GPS on 8.4" touch screen, power locks, power pedals, power windows, premium 'BEATS' audio w/10 premium amplified speakers, subwoofer and 552-watt amp, premium 19" Hyper Black aluminum wheels, remote start, steering wheel controlsSent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk

Year? Options?Steering this back on track...I did suspect something about that Buick.I've located a 300S AWD locally and I will probably take a look at it to get a feel of it. Some people have suggested a Subaru but with my price range and desired mileage (20-30k miles), the higher powered versions (the Outback) is out plus, I just don't want to own a Subaru.

Duragno's are really nice, IMO, and so are Grand Cherokee's. They only have a towing capacity of 6200lbs for the V6, so depending of the camper you plan on buying you may need something more. Go for one newer than 2014 for the 8 speed and 8.4" Uconnect, or newer than 2017 if you want updated driver assistance systems. They got Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in 2018.

flybye-what do you think of the durango srt?We had one and I took it for a short drive. Very impressive considering it's size...and it looks great. The exhaust note on any of the Hemi vehicles is music to the ears too.
The exhaust note is intoxicating. I absolutely love the Durango SRT, but the Trackhawk is ridiculous.i did a short test drive as well. sounds amazing...surprising how well it handled. great option if you need 3rd row seats..didn't get to play with all the launch settingsSent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk

You really can't beat the Pentastar/8A combo and the 300 gets good mileage.
The AWD and RWD get similar wheel designs, but as you notes the offset is different, and the AWD is an inch smaller diameter.
Keep in mind that the S model covers a very wide range of option packages and base price. When searching used you should have an idea of what options you're really looking for.

Trump himself said he is in favor of DACA. Why kick the can down the road? The program was recinded in September and Trump said he wanted Congress to bring a permanent DACA bill to him, so what's the problem? That was in terms of Immigration Reform. Completely different subject. Here we have that Schmuck Schumer demanding that any spending bill to keep the government fully operational include protections for DACA recipients. That's a bullshit move and on him.Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk

You mean he had everyone in a room and told them his expectations when he said, "I'll sign whatever they bring me?"
By all accounts I've seen, Schumer left the White House thinking he had a deal. He agreed to fully fund the border wall and give the military more funding than he was asking for, while including CHIP and DACA. They agreed to put together a 5 day funding extension to give them time to put the bill together. Once McConnell got involved the extension changed to 3 weeks and the agreement was called "too liberal." Then the deal was off and all the blaming of the Dems began.
Trump is a puppet. He is impossible to negotiate with because once you think you have an agreement Ryan or Mcconnel put their hand up his ass and change his mind.
