Heavy trucks are spec'd a lot different than cars and they are incredibly expensive. You can get ACC and ESC on most (if not all) new trucks but I'm not sure how many actually buy it. More recently they can demonstrate a fuel economy savings if they fuse it with a GPS map, which makes the payback quicker and more will opt for it. They need electronic power steering to do lane keeping. Not only are people texting, but truckers are using laptops (I believe legally) and running on less sleep. This story is incredibly sad and it hits me hard. I can't image losing one of my kids. I hope they all find the strength to get through this, no doubt with the support of their friends and family. OnStar doesn't track you to the level of Tesla, but that's not to say OnStar won't be in the future. The system is learning and the concept is not unique to Tesla, but they are the first to implement it and people are more forgiving of Tesla. Ford said they know if you wen to Taco Bell and all hell breaks loose. Tesla tracks your every move and maps where you drive and no one cares. Traditional automakers are held to different standards. Tesla is just the first to implement this, but others will follow. This is just an example of the type of data they collect. As a competitive automaker, the concern may be greater than an average person. Pretend for a second that I purchased a Tesla for competitive benchmarking. If I take it on my proving grounds it will map all the roads, speed limit signs, etc. If I run a series of tests on the vehicle, Tesla will have our entire test/validation profile. Since they can upload images from the camera on the car, they could not only see our test equipment and testing surfaces, but also prototype vehicles. It's also very likely that you could subpoena Tesla for your location data to provide an alibi to police, if you were accused of a crime. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk

In the event of a collision, I agree that everyone is storing the same type of data. During normal operation Tesla is collecting more data AND more actively monitoring it than any other company. They map everywhere you go and everything you do (where you plus in, where you turned something on/off, where you received a warning, or braked over a certain amount, or went over a certain speed), they can remotely connect to the car for diagnostics, they can upload images from the car, the lost goes on... At this point, Tesla is gathering far more data than any other automaker, which is why they have offered to share it with NHTSA/DOT. In total they made 500 Aspen/Durango Hybrids. There are a lot of unique parts to make it a Hybrid. If something breaks, good luck getting parts for it, or even finding a tech that knows how to work on it. The base car is fine, just avoid the hybrid, although I was never much a fan of that body. Yeah, the Journey is even a better choice if it's 2011+. It's got decent cargo space, the rear doors open a full 90 degrees for loading kids easier (never park next to one at the store), and the floor in the back seat has hidden, waterproof storage that he could fill with ice and Mt Dew. Even if you find a Hybrid Aspen, avoid it like the plague. The Commander is based on the WK Grand Cherokee. Avoid the 3.7 V6, the 4.7 was decent, and you know about the Hemi. All should get about the same mileage. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk

Great article. Every SRT goes through a 24 hour track test before release, although most drag racers running sticky tires are upgrading the drive shaft (and that seems like a smart move). There are Hellcat's in the 9's already. Sent from my SM-G925V using Tapatalk
